I installed twelve of the 24" Toggled tubes in six 55 year old light fixtures. The new tombstones would not work in the old fixtures, but the install was simple, white to white, black to black using the old tombstones. If you get these lights, they are extremely bright. I wish I would have gotten the dimmable ones and installed a few dimmer switches. I have these in my kitchen, and in the middle of the night... They will wake you up! Other than that, I love these LED tubes, install was a breeze, took around two hours to install all twelve bulbs with interruptions... I purchased from Home Depot, on line, they arrived in two days with free shipping. Everything I needed was included with the tubes. I will purchase more of these when I install lighting in my garage.
They have a non dimmable version? This ones the only version my local HD stocks. Mind you, I don't think it played well with ever dimmer. They are pretty good tho, I like them. Will be getting more as I need them.
@@DATT Yep, they have a version of both if you look on line. They ship direct from the manufacturer, which is located in the Detroit suburbs. I ordered online and had them in two days from HD.
I bought these bulbs and a new fixture and ballast (rapid start not instant start) and the rapid start ballast comes connected with non-shunted tombstones, so my question is, since these bulbs come with non-shunted tombstones to retrofit, am I good to just pop the bulbs in once I wire and mount my fixture?
I'll admit I'm not quite following what you're asking. Not sure what you mean by non shunted. You have to remove or at least dissconnect the ballast, these bulbs run without it. You wire the mains directly to the sockets. The bulbs come with new sockets to save you the fuss of having to get the wires out the old ones. Just drop in the new sockets, connect the mains to them. Disable the ballast.
Thanks so much for this! Can you still purchase replacement tube light bulbs without having to do any wiring? Just the bulbs to snap in and out of the fixture
Yeah, in fact, finding bulbs like this to use direct wiring is they tricky thing in my area. Most of the replacement LED bulbs I've seen sold at the hardware stores are designed to drop in to your existing fixture with no wiring. I haven't used any of them, so I can't recommend any.
The powered end, one pin gets hot (Black), the other pin get neutral (White). The only jumping I can think of is jumping over to the next tube. It's been a while since I filmed this, and it's hard to advise without the project in front of me.
Oh, I see what you did there. You connected the ends a bit different than the way the Toggled video showed it. They didn’t jumper the two sides together, but looks like either way works the same.
Great video! We're so glad to see your retrofit conversion process go so smoothly. Just want to make sure you aware that our installation kits do include a conversion sticker. Oh, I'm surprised to hear from you. That's cool you guy are you here paying attention. Is it possible it was older stock, was there a time you didn't include stickers ? I did 2 of these installs and don't recall finding one in with kit. As you can see, I've labeled it, so I'm good.
@@DATT Toggled recognizes the importance of labeling a retrofit so we have always included modification labels within our installation kits. We apologize they were missing from your package. @@DATT Yes in the US. I bought some of these fixtures about a year ago. They seem to be getting cheaper.I liked your video and see how its helpful if you didn't what to switch out all your fixtures.
Yeah, they are, I've bought many actually. I like repurposing old stuff if I can. YOu know, I'm not sure if this mod is easier than just changing a fixture, they can both be pretty easy. I guess it all depends. And thanks !
Leviton Universal rotary dimmer. Says part number RDL06. Ahhh, to be honest, they do buzz a bit. But not enough to annoy me It's very faint, and not a problem for me. IF I'm using these lights, I'm working on something where a little buzz doesn't matter.
Probably the best instructional lighting video out there. Educational and entertaining!
Wow, thanks !
Thanks for this tutorial, I was able to do it myself with pretty much zero electrical knowledge

Does the powered end need to be jumpered ?
I don’t remember that part in the instructions.

What exactly is a "toggle" light? Is there a difference between toggled and none toggled
Toggled is just the brand name.
