    Hi i just bought a pair of half rim 30's/40's half rim, 12k gold filled eyeglasses with the wrap earpiece (like the one on this video), they have the non-adjustable or removable rivets instead of conventional screws you can tighten or remove, do you sell those original rivets? also what is the best way to clean gold filled frames without having to spend a fortune..home remedies would be even better. The reason i am asking about the rivets is because one arm swings out too wide. and i'm thinking i may need to replace the rivet. thanks

      An opticians would probably adjust the glasses free of charge if you ask them nicely. I just use soap and water to clean my glasses. Not sure about the rivets but i have made many in steel, silver and gold, they are very low tech. But I work with my hands and I realise not everyone does or can....

      @@LucasRichardStephens could i possibly see how your rivets look ?

      I don't have any footage of such small rivets but the principal shown in this film my help you see what I am talking about;

      This process is the same for glasses but scaled down, if you can get some silver or gold that fits the diameter of the hole it is very soft and will rivet easily. But if the arm opens too wide I suspect it is not just the rivets at fault, it sounds like some metal is worn away or that the arm is bent. A competent optician or watch maker will be able to help you if you lack the tools/ability.

      I don't know how I can help, maybe an optician's shop can help, are your frames broken? Have you ordered new lenses? I did this and the optician also fitted the new lenses in the frame.

      @@LucasRichardStephens Thanks for getting back to me. The frames are perfect and have the original lenses. I want to put my lenses with a wider bottom in. I was thinking that the band around the top that is covered with another gold piece, could be cut and soldered back to fit my new lenses that fit my face ♥

      @@VondaInWonderland Sounds like a job for a goldsmith. The lenses you have could perhaps be ground to fit the frames, I did that once as a stop-gap, when one of my lenses broke. It is all a matter of cost and value, what is costs and what the value of the glasses have to you. I like my glasses partly because they are very old and therefore both unusual and rooted in heritage. They cost more to have new lenses made than just buying new generic glasses, but I have never regretted it and am now on my third lenses and have used the same glasses for 14 or 15 years.

      My Dad got them at an antique fair for 5 pounds, but the gold alone weighs several grams. New gold glasses are very expensive. The lenses cost about 140 pounds
