This one is on my list too! My plan is to recycle some Warcry warbands (looking at you Tarantulos Brood and Corvus Cabal) and using those built-in themes to invent some new cult deities.
Excellent overview! Verrotwood is an awesome game. The initiative, the terrain mechanics and the dice pool system are really cool and innovative. I’ve played egg hunt twice with 3 & 4 players and we had a blast both times!
Thanks for the review, got me convinced to pick it up! As for a cult...I was thinking of that old fantasy movie - "Legend" - whilst watching your review and there's a line in there about "The Great Tree" and it made me think of maybe having a long dormant mother goddess who has been bound within a big old tree and with the demise of the god of Verrotwood she is seeking worshipers....best get to painting!
Good review, fella! Our little group is just about to start this. My cult is The Annointed Brotherhood of the Vast and Rooty One, who worship the forest as an entity, got a kind of root and branch scarecrow aesthetic. We've a fungus cult, one based of dark Faerie lore, a death cult of farmers and a churchy group who think they're still worshipping Verrotmir, but they're definitely not. I've been kitbashing all the creatures and it's been ace. A bag of cheap farm animals, that box of citadel skulls and some milliput, made some messed up horrors!
@@worldofwargaming I modelled up three of those fungus cultists for them, based them on the Goblin Town goblins (gw middle earth ones) I had knocking about, their lumps and bumps were brilliant to sculpt mushrooms onto, and then sculpted up some little masks that look carved from bracket fungus. I love that this game gives an excuse to do these sculpts and kitbashs, without having to make an enormous army.
Thanks for that! I thought that was probably the case but just could not find the entry to save my life, and I didn't want to give incorrect information
first time hearing of this game, that's for talkin at me 'bout it! definitely gives me vibes of frostgrave but a darker tone. will have to give this one a look and see can I convince some friends to give it a go.
I will be using a Hasslefree Oberon as my cults God. A take on The Horned God from Arthur Machen and Call of Cthulhu. So lesser summons being a Satyr. With the Oberon mini as the Greater Summons. Considering some Warhammer Dryads. Potentially as lesser Summons also. Could also use a Green Man figure i have as the Greater Summons for example.
Man that would be something @@worldofwargamingthat would be amazing, I'm trying to collabirate with the inter webs see if we can make some werewolf and vampire rules, and special rules for the may queen and wicker man
Other than being a fantasy game with solo elements I don't think it does. It's a totally different animal. If I were going to compare it to anything it would be the Forbidden psalm games, as it has a small model count and a large emphasis on kitbashing and creativity
Hey thanks for the review and kind words! You did pronounce my name correctly lol and the photography is all me.
Happy to do it my friend, thanks for making something cool! And again, cheers on the photography man, absolutely top shelf work
@@worldofwargaming no thank you!
I am also like Forest Terrain, cheap and easy.
100% my man!

100% what I did lol, I came up with my own God and backstory, but it took much thought and deliberation!
Honestly reusing the Corvus Cabal to worship a Morrigan like Crow or Raven Goddess would be pretty cool.
I'm also considering reusing some Khorne Bloodreavers and a Khornate Hound from Warhammer Underworlds for one Cult.
Im definitely also using some underworlds / war cry models that have been sitting around not doing anything for a while

Agreed, it's been sitting on my bookshelf for a while, and I finally started to make moves to get it on the table , and I am very excited!

That sounds amazing, do you have an IG or anything where they are posted? Id love to take a look
Love this game, a crit is a natural 10 just like a 20 in rangers of shadow deep 👌🏻great review look forward to some games 🙌

Nice! Pretty cheap to get at Wargame Vault. Thank you for taking the time to explain the game! Take it easy!
Happy to, thanks for checking it out!

Very welcome my friend, and if you can't convince friends it has solo play options as well!
Brother I got this just haven’t played it yet.
I chose the Crow Father as my little g!
And my Cult is the brotherhood of the Crow.
Rituals are the devout, regurgitate crow, birds of a feather and winged form. Might switch one for summon or wait until later.
Love all of this! Thanks for sharing! Crow is awesome choice, your cell can be called a murder!
@@worldofwargaming a crow god is my personal cult god also

Love it! where did you get a green man model from? That sounds absolutely awesome!
whoa its like forbidden psalm and Silver/Rangers had a weird baby. I wonder if there are any battle reps out there?
I think there are a few, and I have some coming down the pipeline as well

How does this compare to Rangers of ShadowDep? I feel like I am betraying Joseph A McCoullough
