Electronic doors are for safety of passengers . There were a lotnof robberies when the trains used to slow down before the stations ( especially around delhi ) .
Also from OH&S perspective - its about time train dors are locked as soon as the train strarts rolling

In India most of the rail tracks are welded so there is no knocking noise. Hence less jerks/ vibrations and quiet travel experience.
