Ya, the Civil Defense really come a long way. I remember during the 60~70s Kampong days, the CD was formed by villager volunteers on duty, with backets of sands and water and fire bells .....I don't remember there are water hoses. Now we have the motorbikes, ambulance, the fire engine at different parts of Singapore. Still we all must do our part to prevent unnecessary fire break out !
I remember back in the early 90s there are neighbourhood exercises where the adults will do rescue exercises , I don't suppose they have that now anymore ?
Remember you generally fight high rise fires from inside the building so whilst these platforms are good for tactical options, they're not the primary method of fighting tower fires at all
We can hv the best equipment but there r still limitations to save lives if many are trapped by cluttering in corridors over all HDB flats exceeding SCDF guidelines. Anyone in high post willing to solve this?
You are all not taking the account of winds.. is the boom stable enough to not shake when it’s that high? Will the operators be safe up high whilst wind is gusting. There’s a reason why CPL is deployed during house fires but never utilised
@@aeris1109 I’m talking about the part where everyone thinks it will be deployed when a high rise fire occurs. Furthermore that’s the engineering safety side, SCDF has their protocols to operation as well.
It says 500kg weight limit. At 90m reach, that’s some serious steel. I won’t be surprised it cost a few million dollars. Of coz wind loads are considered in the design and have some safety factor to spare. Scania truck frames are the strongest in the truck industry. Scadanavian steel is naturally superior
Dry riser: a system of valves and pipe work which enables the fire service to pump water onto upper floors of a building. Wet riser: a system of valves and pipe work which is kept permanently charged with water, generally utilising pumps and tanks.

There needs to be firefighting facilities @ newer high rise HDB buildings that can reach up to over 30 or even 50 storeys high. Lacking firefighting facilities or even booster pumps to boost & increase water flow capacity for putting out fire at such tall buildings only puts safety @ risk.

Fire on the 31st Floor: *I'm about to end this man's whole career*
Well then I pray for your safety hahaha
Burj khalifa: HAH!!
Just drive to the 2nd floor easy
If you want to feel really safe only live up to the 7th floor that is usually the max height that fire truck ladders can reach.
any flat above 10storeys unit owners should install fire sprinklers themselves
I want to feel even safer, can I stay next to the fire station?

One in punggol and one in kallang. What if got high rise fire in other parts of Singapore? How fast can the fire engine reach?

Don’t buy non-local no safety mark electrical items, unless you want to risk being burnt to death or have 3rd degree burns and scars
How does the SCDF extinguish super high rise building fire? say level 50 plus

drones
