You have to give Ray Comfort credit for a powerful mind. Just imagine how much mental strength it takes to hear something explained over, and over, and never let any knowledge squeak through.
I can't remember the exact quote, but there is some quote along the lines of, "no one is as hard to teach as the man financially vested to not learn"
His mind is like a brick shithouse. It could probably survive even the hardest attempts to erase it from the map, but it's not exactly encasing lost treasure or anything.
It’s purposeful obtuseness at this point. He’s so intellectually dishonest, he could sell himself that swamp land in California
Phreemunny
I’m laughing at that image. 😂😂😂
Ray has no grey matter just fulled with rocks.
Ray-Ray's logic:
Euclid described Egyptians, Mesopotamians, Macedonians, and Romans as savages. Therefore, geometry is wrong.
Fritz Haber was a nationalist and supported the German war machine in WWI prolonging the war, therefore we should ditch artificial fertilizer and all starve
This logic is so flawed it hurts
TheLuckySpades well, just saying we could replace like 1/2 of synthetic fertilizer use with soil management practices and proper poop movement. fritz haber May have saved the world, but he is also partially responsible for the dust bowl event of the 20s and 30s. Synthetic fertilizer over use and other poor agricultural practices are reducing the size of crop land to the point we have to cut down forests to create more farm land. The future of agriculture is the microbiological revolution. Culturing bacteria in labs or on the farm to rehabilitate decrepit fields and make them fertile again.
@@juliankirby9880 cutting down on it would be ideal, but as of now we still need it
Just like we moved on from Euclids axioms for geometry and Darwin's original form of the theory we should strive to improve and eventually replace it with a better alternative
TheLuckySpades exactly! Proper resource management.
Well done sir!
I am willing to bet that Darwin was far less racist and sexist than Ray Comfort is at present, even allowing for the differences in the times in which they lived.
And Darwin would actually listen to scientific arguments that would eventually change his mind.
@ScepticalCynic no we can't, that is a step too far. Just because you are anti-slavery doesn't automatically mean you don't believe that one group of people is superior to another. Darwin probably, like many from his era, had a paternalistic view of Africans as Europeans had invented or development so much technology that Africans didn't have. Such a view is inherently racist, but not as much as that that allowed the owning of slaves.
@ScepticalCynic sorry, it had only come up on mine as the original comment.
@ScepticalCynic it's nice to meet a civilised person on YT. Have a nice day.
In the 19th century the divide between civilized and savage nations was sort of a given. Just look at the literature of the time. It's where the concept of high and low culture comes from that we still see today. So if it still has such a strong influence on our thinking today, it was exponential in the time it dominated. However, we can only judge people in their time, and not by our modern standards. The people of the 22nd century will probably think we were so barbaric, but only when compared to them.
I like that you gave Ray Comfort the Banana man a banana to hold in the intro.
I didn't notice that. Thanks for posting. Many times when seeing Ray Comfort have I sung, "Sing us a song, you're the bananaman." (to the tune of Billy Joel's "Piano Man").
The banana is the only positive element about that atroviously lying fool.
@@Ugly_German_Truths
Yum, potassium! That is, if you believe in chemistry...
I'm thinking of starting a new religion - The Church of The Banana Split. I'm wondering if Ray Comfort would be its prophet 🤔
😏
@@allan4210 bananas only got a little over 400 mg of potassium, we need about 4,700 mg a day. Probably would be better off with an avocado which has around 1,000 mg of it.
There will never come a time when I am able to get over Ray Comfort's "the first male had to wait millions of years for the first female" argument. It is the single dumbest argument I have ever heard, on ANY subject.
And yet I have personally seen/heard MANY believers regurgitate that forced ignorance "question", believing that it is the ultimate argument against evolution. Trying to explain to someone that just because they can't conceive of how something happened doesn't mean that it didn't is quite the delicate path... assuming your aim isn't to immediately insult them. If it is, I can think of a couple ways to enhance the explanation. 😂
>a right wing creationist using progressive politics to cancel evolution in a """science""" seminar
i can't name something more cringe
That just goes to show that they have no principles.
I think they're trying to accuse evolutionists of hypocrisy, because as we all know, all evolutionists are left-wing Woke atheists.
You also should have mentioned that The Decent of Man, the book Ray said was racist, argued against the classification of humans into races, because Darwin believed, quite correctly, that there was only one species of human. Darwin didn't claim that black people were more closely related to apes than humans, he argued against it!
Typical conservative christian. Claims to have read something, then claims it says the exact opposite of what it actually does.
@Ad Lockhorst You are just incorrect. According typical non specific definitions biologist usually use for term "race" there is just one human race. Check channel "concordance" and his videos about the subject for more information. The videos are also linked to my youtube page.
@Ad Lockhorst, you have a point. Even if science does classify humans without regard to race, humans definitely "see" race.
@Ad Lockhorst Yes, but humans are actually among the least genetically distinct species of primates, and these differences are not great enough for there to be several subspecies of human, which scientists thought there were.
@@williamtarry4405 I once had the "pleasure" to debate a racist - white supremacist. First he did confident claims about all progress in history being donne exclusivelly by whites. So I asked him, how does define a white person, to be able to debunk his claims. He wasn't able give me any solid definition :-D
So I did my own research on racism and found out, that the concept of human races comes from 16th century whit a massive colonialism. Concept of race was basically to distinguish between colonists and natives. They started to call all the colonists "whites" and all the natives "coloured". Later they sorted the "coloured" cathegory further.
So... There are off course different lineages of humans with some interesting differences in physiology, morfology etc., but the concept of human races as usualy understood is bull$hit.
Ah, Ray Comfort, who, in a debate with Matt Dillahunty stated he never lied, and then was caught in a lie in that same debate.
Really?
What he say

Wow. I love how Ray Comfort acts like one version of a cartoon is a chart that depicts the entire theory of evolution.
11 creationists claiming to be experts on evolution is exactly the same as 11 flat-earthers claiming to be experts in geography.
Lol! His entire argument against a scientific theory is art criticism and feigned pearl clutching over social justice concerns 😂
If I thought Ray was entering this conversation in good faith, I’d wonder how he managed to navigate his zipper before taking a piss. But the man is not stupid, and has had this stuff explained to him more times than most biology majors. He is disgraceful in his dishonesty.
@Marilyn Newman Steering wheels...on trains...on straight tracks...with literally no need to turn or otherwise navigate except at specific crossings...Christ on a crutch.
RetroMan -wow! You can quote mine! I’m totally convinced; every biologist, geologist, anthropologist and geneticist has been wrong all this time! I’m glad I get my scientific knowledge from randos on the Internet who can’t even be bothered to provide some kind of counter evidence to a foundational theory of biology
@RetroMan Yes, the idea that "macroevolution" is a meaningful term that scientists use is a fantasy that is very popular with creationists. Also the idea that "kind" has any precise meaning is another fantasy.
"Life is a magical force unexplainable by modern chemistry " is another one. And let's not even get into the millions of "special creations", presumably some instantaneous transmutation of oxygen, water and freely available carbon into discrete intact organisms that their dogma requires them to assert faith in. All so they don't have to believe in that icky "evolution".
Btw, it is an indubitable fact that you developed from a single cell in your mother's womb. Why you can't believe that similar processes over millions of years are just as possible is a failure of imagination on your part. The kind that lets scientists form hypotheses and engineers visualize trajectories, not the kind that invents deities out of whole cloth.
@RetroMan bro you watch dr James your quiet about evolution
Re: Comfort's accusations of sexism...you know Ray understands evolution so poorly that he has argued that men and women had to have evolved separately, right?
One of the apologist videos I saw - I forget who posted it, but it was called something like "Evolution Exposed in 50 seconds" - stated that evolution can't be true because the first human baby wouldn't have survived with no human parents to look after it... and the comments section was full of, "Aw, gee whiz, what a great point," type comments. The level of self delusion and lack of logic and questioning of presented 'information' scares me.
PZ Myers
No one who graduated 6th grade believes that, neither does Ray.
Con man, period.
@@dragonhealer7588 Conmen use language that their audience will believe. The claim that no one believes it is refuted by the fact that Comfort is a successful con man.
@@dragonhealer7588 Well, there is a phenomenon called induced delusion. If you love someone and he/she believes some bull$hit, you very soon notice, that your lack of trust in his/her bull$hit hurts his/her feelings. So there is a good chance if you really love him/her you will start cherry-picking and accepting his/her bull$hit...
EDIT: There is also desperate people doing and believing desperate things.
And (most immportantly in my opinion) the lack of faith fallacy: "It works only if you trully believe it." Such a filthy trick! As it again and again fails you grab your cherry pickaxe and ignore all the uncomfortable facts. Once you reach the "true faith" you no longer care that it doesn't work.
I don't believe in Satan, but this fallacy makes me doubt...
If men & women evolved separately, why do I, as a man, have nipples? Even the most ignorant creationist should grasp that concept.
I like how Ray never says or even implies that evolution isn't true. He simply says the conclusions he draws from it are distasteful.
Can you think of a distasteful conclusion you can draw from a true proposition?
Death is the permanent erasure of a sentient being who probably didn't want to be erased.

Duh, humans are not the ape KIND. Checkmate, evolutionist!
Hi fellow ape,
I also love how they claim, that evolution can't explain love, empathy, intelligence and art even though us being apes gives much more sense to those phenomenons.
And I really love, how biology can explain religion, but religion fails to explain biology.
@@amurape5497 of course religion can explain biology, just pick up a Bible! We were created from a bunch of dirt and breath, through God's magical incantation. Which is why, if you're sick, the best ways to handle it are to say magical incantations or bury you in dirt.

And now, creationists to tell you all about evolution. This program will be followed by a talk on the cosmos, delivered by the flat earth society, a lecture on medicine by the national alliance for homeopathy, and finally a talk on the finer points of quantum computing by a troglodyte using a dead slug as a fake mustache.
Surely, we’re in for a very intellectually stimulating evening.
That was excellent! I can almost smell the sarcasm.
"We invited experts on evolution"
I'm assuming the background is from their original video. I'm assuming the people in the background are the "experts". I think I recognize Ken Ham and Eric Hovind, who aren't even experts at _religion_ let alone _addition_ or especially evolution.
This is gonna be like inviting David Duke and his university degree in Grand Wizardry to talk about civil rights, isn't it.
And now to talk about the right of self determination, meet our experts: Alexander, Napoleon, Hitler, and Stalin!
I think they invited Kent Hovind but he wasn't prepared for that.

0:00 What a weird concept. This is so far from how scientists discuss things. Imagine a physics conference called "String Theory Exposed" where a bunch of speakers take 15 minutes each to diss string theory. And now imagine most (all?) of the speakers aren't physicists and instead of string theory it's high school physics.
Exposing the string theory is easy...
It's not a theory, but hypothesis ;-)

The fact of the matter is, if the Creationists had *anything at all of substance* on this subject to support their position they'd have submitted papers to every potential outlet around. And as much as it might have been a hard pill to swallow for some scientists, they'd have no choice but to swallow it if it was sufficiently evidenced and peer-reviewed.

I'm certainly not above a bit of mockery and I'm sure I could do with being more conciliatory in my approach. However I completely disagree that I (and other atheists in these discussions) provide little or no logic or substance to the arguments.
I recently asked Ray if he's ever told a lie since becoming saved. He finally was willing to admit he might have, even tho he previously has claimed he's never once lied since being saved. He made this absurd claim after having to back up another claim that those who are truly saved will not lie

why is it that comfort is the last thing I feel whenever Ray speaks?
@RetroMan
so you think someone giving me a way out of the pain of sin, would cause me to feel uncomfortable because I am dead in my sin?
Kudos for the comeback - but seriously, how could it be that God would make me in such a way that I would reject the cure for hte problems caused by rejecting the cure? That's like someone with AIDs being allergic to AIDs medicine. Do you not see the logical problem here? Do you think a good and intelligent God would deliberately create people who couldn't accept him and so go to Hell?
So... they got together and filmed their echo-chamber while not asking a single actual expert... and they think this will do what exactly? People who already agree with their claims will not understand or care, and people that don't already agree will know they are full of crap and laugh at them. The other possible group is made up of people like how Paulogia used to be, people who believe, but will have their beliefs challenged once they look at the real science.
I really don't understand the though process of people who engage in evolution denial through misrepresentation in order to support the idea of creation. They must know that they are lying at this point... they have been corrected thousands of times in some cases.
People who already know the topic will ignore (or laugh at) them because they are so amazingly full of garbage. People who already agree with their conclusion won't gain anything, but may come to question their beliefs if they look at actual science and realize that apologists are so amazingly full of garbage.
The net change with this sort of evolution denial through lies and misrepresentation can only lead to them _losing_ followers and believers and does nothing more than undermine their side.
It amazes me that they still do this. The idea that anyone can be so amazingly foolish boggles my mind.
They're stuck in the mindset of the 90's con artist. They still think that if they can present a false dichotomy and get you to mistrust the other side then you'll have no choice but to follow their bullshit
It amazes me that someone can bloviate at such length while expressing the same idea throughout multiple paragraphs.
They don’t do this so much to gain “new customers” rather to maintain their existing customer base. It’s a well known and basic principle of business: if you have something to sell you have to keep on advertising else your customers base will shrink either because of competitors or because customers will forget what makes your product special/necessary. There’s a lot of crappy products out there that get sold just because of constant advertising and I am sure even the smartest people buy at least a few of them.
@@mikean7074 Yeah... I noticed that too on a later reading... I'm worried that listening to Ray Comfort has damaged my brain in some profound way.

@@shaunelliott8583 This is what it comes down to. Once the well poisoning stops working and you start examining arguments for sound epistemology the evolution denial gets much harder. At least, that's my experience.

I love that Ray Comfort immediately shows where this is going by selecting a specific image to bitch about that is not the original image. Paulogia another excellent video, I disagree with one point here in the beginning but before I get into that I want to say thank you for the work you do and please don't ever quit. I don't know if we as a species will ever be able to evolve past these fundamentalist ideals but I know for sure that not discussing or exploring ways to educate people will lead to increasing problems and no solutions, so what you do is extremely important.
OK my disagreement which to be honest may just be my perspective and not necessarily a disagreement is the way you describe "March of Progress" from the Early Man book. I don't think the diagram is "wrong" per se. I've had this book since I was a kid and even back then didn't think it showed a linear progression because if you look at the whole picture and the descriptions underneath it is clear they don't mean it as a linear progression, the graphs? above and below the picture that show when each species lived clearly show that many lived at the same time and that many are separated by large numbers of years.
I totally think they could have made the picture more intuitive so that these people who hold it up as "how wrong we all are" wouldn't so easily be able to do that but for the beginnings of understanding the reality of evolution my own opinion is that it's actually quite a good chart. Please know if you see this Paulogia I in know way mean any offense, I guess I just see it a lil different.
I grew up in a religious home, went to church every Sunday, well Saturday lol and fell asleep a lot, the one priest was very monotone lol, never had a bad experience unless you count the time I choked on Jesus at my first communion lol but I also had a ma who to this day believes Genesis is real but allowed me to find my own path for which I'm eternally grateful. Unfortunately I don't understand why people need evolution to be false. I believe in God, not the Bible or what I've been told, and as I have said on another post God is God I don't think God is so sensitive that God can't handle evolution or a round Earth. Many of these same people who think evolution is wrong also believe the Earth is flat and then go on to use science (often misunderstood science) to try to explain their points. Unfortunately many of these videos I watch are insanely hypocritical and filled with out in out lies. The video I watched just the other day on SciMan Dan's channel had a man claiming to be "standing for truth" used the Early Man book's March of Progress and just told flat out lies masquerading as truth. I do not understand that level of hypocrisy.
Anyway I've gone on long enough and just want to wish anyone who read my words many blessings and good fortune and hope you all have a good day. Never stop Paulogia, your channel and what you do is above reproach. Thank you.
P.s. I should have listened longer, my apologies. I misunderstood you Paulogia. I'm an idiot, lol. Sorry.
Everyone in the 1850s was racist. Everyone was for most of humanity
Comparing with our modern standard is stupid.
I mean... in all fairness, you could try and rationalize this approach by saying that « because evolution was invented to justify racism, this permeated the theory and it carried it til today ».
Of course the problem (besides the massive hypocrisy it’d take for a Jew, Christian, or Muslim to say that, considering that each of their respective holy books as well as the previous books they draw upon were all made partly to justify or celebrate the ethnic or religious supremacy of their respective group) is that evolution wasn’t created to justify racism, and that the study of evolution actually helped fighting racism, so... So Ray's argument (so far) has just been to whack on an old graphic? It wasn't drawn the right way to suit him? Seriously?
What, you were expecting facts and evidence?
Before it got that far, he would need to start with some coherent claim about evolution anyway.
@@stevewebber707 -- I never expect much from Ray. But this was -- in my view -- a step stupider than anything he has done before. This goes below the banana argument.
@@Kevin_Williamson Well yes, since he didn't bother to present an argument. This was emotional pandering. I imagine this isn't the only time he's done this.
Sorry ... who is the first voice heard? Thanks.
0:16 Notice that in the "11 experts" part they had 12 panels for the video. I have it on dubious authority that there was supposed to be a twelfth panelist, one Kent Hovind. However, at the day of the filming, they called Kent where he was. Unfortunately Kent had to concede that he wasn't prepared for the conference. That's why the one panel in the bottom right corner is B-roll footage of people who are not present at the conference, to substitute for Kent.
7:35 You mean Ray Comfort has been dishonest? Again?!?
The way evolution works has been explained to Ray many times. The fact that he is still spouting nonsense that he must KNOW at this point is nonsense makes him disingenuous or willfully duplicitous (lying). But in either case, undeniably a silly person.
Wow Comfort is using racism now.........and you watched this for six hours???
Even that image of human evolution, which I agree is not ideal, could still have been educational if it had been interpreted correctly. It simply gives a general, representative view of the creatures that looked most like _Homo sapiens_ at various times, without claiming to be accurate in every way. And, it's decades old - some theories have been updated. I certainly never saw it as a series of time-lapse images of our ancestors. I think it still has value in demonstrating that there never needed to be any major, sudden changes in broad sets of characteristics to facilitate evolutionary procession from very unhumanlike monkeys, to us.
It's also notable that _any_ extant species could be placed at the right side of the diagram - a chimpanzee, a hammerhead shark, a maple tree, a bacterium - and a set of pictures could be placed behind it illustrating its evolutionary past. Linearity in such diagrams is not wrong - the evolution of every individual species is indeed mostly linear (yeah, there is likely some hybridization, but a diagram like this is representative, not exhaustive, so a linear view is generally acceptable). The main problem, I think, is that popular versions of this diagram are only offered for our own species. Nevertheless, I have seen similar images representing the evolution of horses, of elephants or of broader groups of life such as those spanning from fish to early land-dwelling creatures. They are all equally illustrative and none of them are intended to represent specific progressions of individual species.
Love Gutsick Gibbon. Her debate with Kent Hovind is one of the best you'll ever see.
"Darwin was a racist, hence what he says is always racist." XD
That's a school book example of genetic fallacy.
Comfort will for certain correct his mischaracterization.
pffff hahahahahaha HA!
"We pulled in experts on the subject of evolution" *shows Ken Ham and Eric Hovind*
I'm looking forward to the next episode :)
I have to wait until 8:30pm! Noooo!!! Torture. Guess I’ll just have to watch that Viced Rhino video...😳
Both great creators! 😉
I didn't know there were this many Religious con men that would willing get together and show how stupid, ignorant and I don't know what else. Thanks for a great video, guest speakers and yourself. Take care and waiting for the next installment if Religion Con men vs. Intelligent thinking..
Um, the video started out proclaiming mi ing they gathered "11 evolutionary experts". Seeing their panel invalidates that claim and the following conference.
Also, you're an amazing person for continuously trying to get that crowd to learn.
Re: Feminism, it does not go unnoticed that their panel is entirely Male.
Yes, the diversity isn't amazing.
“Evolution is CANCELLED!”
**looks outside at the chaos humanity creates in 2020.**
Yeah! Checks out.
Covid was intelligently designed to fuck up 2020?
Edit: That explains so much.
@Richard Ball So is my comment. Edited it.
Ray Comfort and Twitter SJWs joining forces is one of the scariest supervillain team-ups I can imagine.
Also if his first point is 'why isn't the random early human in that one famous artist's interpretation a black person or a woman?' I know we have a rough ride ahead.
Wow 👏 this series is the best work you have done Paul and a huge thank you to all the guest presenters as well. Science education is awesome 👍especially when taught from the point of view of correction and/ or building upon. Which is the goal of science. Thank you all again. Take care ❤ and stay safe 🙏
Hey Paulogia, can I translate your Videos in German?
Darwin almost got thrown off the Beagle because he questioned the captain's defense of slavery.
Funny that Ray describes sexual dimorphism as a "can of worms", when worms are hermaphrodites. Meanwhile the nematode C. Elegans has two sex variants - hermaphrodite, and fully female.
Creationists seem to think that evolutionary science stopped at Darwin. They place the bible next to The Origin of the Species and think they have to debate the 2 books while ignoring new knowledge since the 19th century.
"fundamental lack of understanding" applies to everything Comfort says.
OMG I had the Time life books as a kid. I would look at them over and over again.
To participate meaningfully in a university setting requires that you be willing to change your understanding of something when provided with sufficient observations/proof. It is obvious why people like Ray Comfort can't deal with that.
Wow, I really enjoy Erika's channel, thanks for the recommendation! Also, great video!
Yay Gutsick gibbons and Dragnauct! You always have the best guests!
"Early Man" has been in my library since I got a copy in the 1960s. :)
Always directly to Darwin. As if science hasn't taken what was useful, discarded what wasn't, and moved on. Why would---oh...they think their interpretation of the Bible hasn't changed.
You would think that after opposing evolution for so long, Ray Comfort would have at least learned the primer version of it by now. Oh, and that monochromatic dye job isn't fooling anyone. He's like 75 years old.
Can someone give me the timestamp for evolution evidence? I need to find a good clip for my comedy segment.
Thanks.
Did you use a clip from Dave?!? ZOMG I LOVE THAT MOVIE! We're walking, we're walking and we're stopping. Bonnie Hunt is amazing in this itty-bitty baby role
Right?!? Glad someone noticed
I did write a long rant about why Ray Comfort should not use the Word Eskimo.
I did provide cultural and historical backing.
But then I realized that, it does not matter.
Thanks for the great content. :-)
Is the chick @ 10:40 a voice actor? She sounds familiar.
You're talking about living waters, it's an easy picking for a video. Not a cheap shot though, I definitely wanted someone to cover them.
The intro says they brought in experts on the subject of evolution.
How does Ray Comfort interpret the biblical prohibitions against lying?
Oh my gosh, during that introduction from Ray I thought, "Wow.... how are they going to get out of this one?" And then I saw the panel. xD They're the Experts on evolution?
A 6-hour show...? Jeebus Murphy.... Thanks for doing this so that we don't have to, Paul...
Paulogia can you post other topics? I want to support your channel but it is so hard to finish some of these videos. The misrepresentation, especially when quoting, from the people you talk about is very frustrating.
Edit: after a Pureflix ad and hearing that guy ramble about where the female would fit on the March of Evolution, I have to go.
There was a video here somewhere between the mob of ads I got
Thanks for the heads-up... it had been demonetized entirely until now.
@@Paulogia No worries dude, I'm looking forward to giving it a proper watch later👌
Great start, really looking forward to this series!
Hope you enjoy it!
@@Paulogia anything that exposes Ray and his cohorts for what they are always gets my vote :)
I wanna help with a segment.
Love your channel Paul you are doing awesome work. I really enjoy the content.
Hearing Gutsick Gibbon's voice on here was like watching the end of one of those TNG episodes where the Klingons uncloak and stomp the Romulans
"Ray's obsession with bananas!" OMG I can't breathe! 🤣
Why is Ray Comfort allowed to be involved in adult conversations? He should have been declared legally incompetent long ago.
never thought I had to use the phrase, but why is Ray Comfort suddenly so obsessed with virtue signalling? I think he is simply argue to 'win' the argument instead of reaching conclusions.
i love hearing ray admit that educated people are tossing out theism.
i actually have the image at 5:11 in a poster ! got it around 6 years ago in an anime convention
