Honestly....this version is SO MUCH better than the studio release which in my opinion is way over produced. This performance is magic!
coincido!!
I started playing bass in 1965 when I was 13 and had a successful career as a session player and touring bassist since 1974.
That said.... when I see Tal play and sing, I realize what a rare talent she is. Very few great bass players can sing, and write with the maturity and natural ability that she is blessed with. She is truly gifted and totally amazing!
I agree. I just retired from the concert business after a 39 year career and I've never seen anyone like her, especially with such a compelling voice. As you obviously see, Tal's the real deal. She'll be around for a very long time.
I feel the same as the both of you, where Tulsatom bob says she is gifted, and edfou5 says shes the real deal.may I add, as I have to admit, im really turned off by all the cute hipsters and their emotional love of scarves and hats with the new hip thing beat box, it is that much more of a definition if how gifted she is and will become monumental.Of this genra, she will become a Gedde Lee, Sting, JP Jones, flea and victor wooten, of the Ox, Redding..she is so smooth truelly saturated from within of what music is.it emits from her soul and pours from her fingertips.its the very deep feel of muddy waters, hooker, an at times like buddy rich on the drums, as she portrays a beautiful feel that Paul simon displays when singing with his eyes closed.I am so glad, that she pursues her passion.she is truly gifted, and a gift to all of us.thanks Tal, never stop.
Her choice of notes and timing is years ahead of her calendar age.
General Bob, you are so gifted in your narration. Gifted is a good word for Her.
Leelee Lovely You have a lovely name LeeLee! Thanks for the kind words and many blessings to you!
Just a ridiculous level of talent. She is already one of the greats and she is still so young. I think she is going to become a legend.
The percussion made me smile.
With all the shit corporate music tries to shove down the public's throat, it's a joy to see a true master of her craft singing and playing meaningful music. Tal is a genius.
Well said
Indeed , Tal is a True Genius!!!!!
So true! Very well said!
@Wicker Billy although now they try to keep us from owning the music; they keep it on their own servers, snoop into what we listen to, and get us to stream it so they keep control. Battles have been won, but the war isn't over.
@@squirlmy Tal's music can be steamed both with SPOTIFY and Deezer etc.
I didn't know that she could sing and that she had such a great voice! Wow Tal! Amazing.
And she is just beginning to amaze us.
She really is special.
I totally agree. Quite a surprise! More of it. This tune has got a nice groove, too
Saw her last night at Mill Valley, she was just amazing!
I think this is the perfect blend of Tal on bass, singing and song-writing. The percussion combo was sensual- as, too.
I love the sound of this Harmony bass with a single DeArmond pickup played by this awesome player. Nice project.
Her voice is entirely unlike what I ever would have imagined.
a real surprise when she started singing her first line!
No doubt.
YESS! Is a sensation soo fucking strange
Didn't expect this tone either. Sounds like a woman in her 40's
Looks are indeed deceiving. A great Female singer in her 40s and a great experienced Bassist inside this young Lady.
Tal at her very best on this track I feel.
Such a talented lady, keep up the great work...
Totally in agreement just beginning to discover the vast talents of this young lady looking forward to more ENJOY M8!
The new Renaissance is here. There is hope in the young Musicians.
I loved this version! Simple yet complex. Very interesting percussion and background vocals. Thank you Tal and friends!!!!!
Far and away the best version of this song. Kudos to all concerned including the engineers. Especially like the percussion ensemble, very organic!
Inside story-
And very spontaneous- Tal saw the two playing cajon and 'pile of shells' (both from Spain) playing with Jackson Browne/Raul Rodriguez (NYC show) and backstage invited them to come 'hang out', then when they showed up she said let's go and pulled them into a couple of live studio performances with her- they had no idea that's what they were doing with their day off... came out really nice though :-)
What a great inside back story!
This has to be one of the coolest songs/performances ever put on UA-cam!
must be.... she is truly phenomenal artist of our time.... thanks God.
@@tanapatpeemanee1230 I am still amazed . Made that song in 89' Townville , 8. november. Tal didn't know that , she just loved the words and . I had one bluesharp , a crushed beer can under each foot and two glass beer bottles on the index and long finger. A girl came runninning through the cyclone , so I grabbed her , was afraid the the " Dorothy effect would Blow her her. Can I tape you. Yes and every song from now on is Yours and the worlds .. At first I wondered if Tal was my daughter . Tal =`speak in Norwegian . The lady that recorde me on a snyo hand held device is choiring.
One of my Top 10 favorite bassists of ALL TIME! I love u Tal..........
She is that kind of musical miracles that happens rarely in time. Thanks God for let me know her.
This young lady is the best bass player I've ever seen and I'm now 70 years old. Her experiences didn't suffer from the sessions with Jeff Beck. It's great to hear that she has a voice to complement her style. Lovin" it.
One of the best performances ever
Very special, first time i hear Tal singing..... but its fantastic....she's a great musician.
I, and this world, I believe can use/need a large dose of this musical medicine. Tal bring it!
Tal, thank you for the moment of hope in times of plastic music and fake emotions. Be preised
Jacek Hnatów bigger Thumbs Up.
She is amazing, reminds me that the human spirit is a precious gift, and we cannot let the beast take us over. Lately it seems we are slipping in that direction!
Every thumbs up for Tal.
Tal you have the most BEAUTIFUL hair that I've ever seen in my life. I LOVE your hair. Your face is very beautiful, and everything else about you is beautiful. I love your bass playing, and I love your singing. Thank you so much for doing what you do.
Wow a great song and mellow sound. Makes me want to get into the band life again. Band for 18 Yrs. During the 60' 70's on drums over 30 Yrs. Happy New Yr.
Like good wine, Tal is getting better with age.... Her true personality is rising up, made of sensuality, and subtilness. A great artist indeed!
Enjoyed Tal's bass playing for a long time. When I listened to this beautiful piece of music and heard her voice - I thought I was hearing Joni Mitchell. Amazing - keep your feet on the ground and create more for us longing for music with real soul.
it is reminiscent of Joni but of course, no one comes close to Joni IMHO
This song is so beautiful in so many ways.. and it has a beautiful way of touching my heart. Tal, I solute you!
Here is a true angel, playing bass like no tomorrow and singing like no other! Yes I am a newborn fan......love this!!
This song has made my day...words cant describe the feelings. INSPIRING!
I'm a HUGE fan. Love her and them The percussionist is way cool
Very Talented women, not only on Bass, but Vocals and writing..love it..listen to it everynight
Absolutely beautiful. I didn't know she was a gifted and emotive singer as much as she is a fantastic bass player. I love surprises like this.
Unique, folky and refreshing. Tal has a natural talent that is unmistakably real. I see nothing but good things for this lady. A rose in the desert. Most enjoyable!
truly...... she is the the rose in a desert...... absolutely right ... as we r not easy to get the real deal...in music industry.... recently.
I think I have listened to this 30 times today! Remarkable music making.
i am for my 7th listening of the song...soon I will catch up with you
Toka Reva
The Lays potato chip slogan was modelled after this song - you can't just listen to it once. ( I'm on my 4th round as I type this)
Rad. Enjoying your music Tal ~
Extremely talented young lady... wow!
I hope this one cuts through the mediocrity that's out there in the music world. A wonderful performance and no need for over-production. Congratulations! Loved it!!!
God I just loved the percussion on this! They all did a killer job! Anything Tal=awsome!
Thank you, Tal, for gracing the world with your skills. So Wow!
Recognize the gift part... so young still, and yet a talented song writer, full scale musicianship, voice, and presentation, ...all of which can come with years of practice, or can simply be realized early, as an accumulation of rapid acquisition through an uncommon blessing ... such is the gift part... not belittling the intensity of practice that had to accompany such a display of cohesion. Hard working, and blessed... hard to beat.
Beautiful. Tal has so much talent and her audiences are growing!
Jeff Baker pathetic attempt at trolling,...
bro
Jeff Baker that's the best you got? it's like clubbin seals around here
She can sing too?
Somewhat unfair.
Fucking amazing.
Luv and Peace
Well , now I am reminded of how I enjoyed the old hippie years . 1960-1986 .
Wow, I love this!
An old soul in a young body, you can hear it in her extreme grown-up voice, awesome, let alone her bass playing skills.
Her voice reminds of the early 70's, and her bass playing is really amazing
Me too, can't stop listen and watch ! You're brilliant guys !!!
I keep listening to this over and over. My God, what a breath of fresh air. I am inspired; thank you Tal for the beauty you create.
Love this! Love Tal's music, with and without vocals. Loved the whole ensemble, especially watching the percussionist on the right hand side! Everything spot on!
is that percussionist Tamir Barzilay on the right side?
Beautiful, peaceful yet melancholy. I loved it, thank you.
So, Tal is so much more than a phenomenal bass player (as well as being very pleasing on the eye), but she can also sing beautifully, as well as surround herself with wonderful musicians? Who knew. Although, we should not be in the least bit surprised! Nice one, Tal. Loving the 'earthiness' of this... \m/ (:o)
Unbelievable in every way! Absolutely astounding :)
Wow. Tal
Every time I hear this. I'm amazed by the directness of the recording, It is pretty pure.
Love it, the second voice, it is great!

Awesome. She sings rather well too. A wonderful song indeed. It has that magic quality to it. Great lyrics.
Love it. Everything is just right. Really. Just SO right with everything.
WoW . .the sky seems to be the limit for Tal. I hope she keeps her head and has a long career. I never heard her voice before, either. Cool song.
Tal that was great in every way , i just loved it !
Brilliant to see such great music get a big audience. Besides your Chops are simply outrageous, dear Tal. keep honing you talents. I simply enjoy and adore (all of you!)
Yes, I would pay good money for an LP of this standard of music. And see it played live too. Nice to see Tal coming into her own. Fabulous band and accompaniment. Oz misses ya kid...
Great stuff Tal!..You're amazing!!....I thought you were 15 when I saw you on the Beck videos...(showing my age).....but hearing your voice...I see the 29 year old in you.
Nice music. Happy to see Tal singing too. Good job.
Such beautiful harmonies at 1:30. Gorgeous song. I love that quick run/riff at 2:25 - a little Geddy Lee in her. Tal is amazing and talented. The Cajon player looks like he is baked out of his skull, he's a beauty.
really good! beautiful people - gives me hope for the future when i see young hippies playing music from their hearts.
i follow (with my ears & eyes) miss Tal since i heard (& bought) her first CD the first time in 2007 - she is wonderful! and i am happy for all the people who can share some time & playing music with her :)
The sound could be a flash back to listening to someone in1970
Near Big Sur ...
Very FOLKSY/ROCK.... beautiful...
Connection ..yet it's all her talent...
How cool would it be to play any of those percussion instruments. Those guys are Badass- Tal is pretty good too-LOL
Didn't know she sang til I saw this! Very good stuff! She's beautiful, plays bass like there is no tomorrow, and now she sings beautifully on top of all that? Wow! I'll have to check out the other stuff! I've been a fan since I first saw her play bass.
Heavenly Marvelous Tal! Thanks, Denis.
This group of musicians are amazing too!
settle and solid...... as the great group.
Was not expecting to hear such good vocals...Nicely rooted with the bass . Great sound !!
Beautiful song, great bassist and amazing voice.
Excellent percussion in that song.
Wow..... Okay, I only knew of Tal with Jeff Beck. This is good. It's great to push out and do your own thing. Especially when you do it well. Refreshing to see someone who can do more than just one thing; although the thing I know her for is world class. Lovely........ I hope to see and hear more of her, in all of her capacities. :D
Brilliant, really brillant !
Very, very cool! The song, the singing, the percussion, the bass, the guitar, everything! Greetings from Brazil
Breaking the mold. Proud to say she is an Aussie.
Really matured as a musician. An excellent composition.
That is a great song and that band is pretty amazing...
love it Tal..listen to it almost every night
The musicianship in this is breathtaking.
OMG! As a bassist for 40 years, I have to say I love this woman like family and I don't even know her.
Reply to my own post LOL She has truly found her voice both vocally and spiritually. Brought a tear to my eye.
,,, now you do know her ;)
Wow, Tal Sings. Very cool.
Jeff beck
Yes! Big voice too, and a very nice surprise.
Plays better than sings though
@@Leo-jt3tc technically, yes, but I really like her voice. Just the right balance of raw and smooth. Over time, she'll master her voice (as a singer and as a human) and really kick ass.
@@midi510 She is after in her early thirties, Jeff Beck saw the talent, I think it is such a great thing that he mentored her.
Hi. Tal always enjoying playing this song over .

BOEINGNUT the melody is brilliant...
Ooooh. Plays like me.
That bass has a lovely sound.
Really nice to see that there are real musicians still out there. Great performance by all.
Lyrics
I call out to the ocean
My tears fall into the sea
For the vows, that have been broken
Across the dunes, uptide repeatly
Like a knight in battered armor
I lay my sword upon the ground
'Cause I can't keep fighting these same battles
More has been lost, than has been found
It's hard to feel things changing
After all's been said and done
We spent our live rearranging
Everything under the sun
I walk the same road to work each monday
Every step tears at my heel
I sleep not to dream
But to forget on sunday
A spoke, just turning with the wheel
chorus
Bridge
Reaching for the sky feet buried in the ground
Looking for some way out of the circles spinning round
My eyes on the horizon seeking out the light
But don't let me be lost forever in the night
Don't let me be lost
In darkness of the night
rep chorus
jobson88 thx
The lost that have been broken. She might have changed it a bit. I did'nt play that song for Tal , but the lady in black , I f you wonder why I sang about lights in the horizon, two hours before we were running from a cyclone. Towards Townsville , I had the harbourbmaster om VHF, He saw some plings on the radar, hold it , you got it mate, Then I saw the lights, 50 60 Through the break waters. After we tied up .

Thanks for posting the words. She is an amazing person!
many thanks......
I LOVE THIS!! This is also my introduction to Tal, and I think she is wonderful. I will be listening to more of her gift. I really enjoyed the entire arrangement, absolutely beautiful. I think it's a bit odd however, that I am the only female who has commented so far...at least I think I am. ~ Peace
From the first time I seen her perform with Vinnie at Ronnie Scott's (Jeff Beck band) I new I witnessed something very special.Drummers think about how great it must have been with her playing bass. Can you imagine.?? Vinnie was all smiles.Bass players don't come around much that play like this young lady, that's for dam sure.Best of wishes.,!!!
Every so often, a musician tells a story that surprises...such a gift.
