This is definitely one of my all time favorite songs and this is absolutely my favorite version of Dondante. Jim James is one of the coolest dudes ever. He puts his heart and soul into his music. This is the song that made me fall in love with MMJ. It makeshift transcend normal thought and escape into another world in my mind. This version of this song is always the first thing I go to when I need to clear my mind and focus.
Just came back to listen once.. at the end I was like: "ok, let`s roll this back and hear it again". This is the fourth time. I love music that is "composed", there is an intro, gradual acceleration, riveting climax and then a smooth slowdown, finished with pure engrossing brilliance. What ever the f*** happened to music I have no idea, but very few bands tend to produce these rock-epics anymore... Floyd, Zeppelin - geez guys , I thought that the +10-min-track is an INSTITUTION... let`s hope for bands like these in the future....
At 5:13 stops saying any word, the next 7 minutes are pure awesomeness. The whole song is awesome. Such a beautiful song, I can clearly quote this is the best live song performance I have ever seen. Simply AMAZING
In a dream I saw you walkin' Like a kid alive and talking That was you In the classroom you were teachin' On the streets you were policing That was you To the one I now know most I will tell them of your ghost Like a thing that never, ever was And all that ever mattered Will some day turn back to batter Like a joke Behind thin walls you hid your feelings Takes four legs to make a ceilin' like a thing In a dream I saw you walkin' With your friends alive and talking That was you Well I saw it in your movement And even though you never knew it Well, I knew just how sweet it could be If you'd never left these streets You had me worried So worried That this would last But now I'm learning Learning that this will pass...
The most amazing thing I've ever heard. They have a feel for each other and knew ever move they were going to make even though they did their own thing. This is better than the recorded studio version.
Does anyone else sing this song in the shower?!?! Happy to have been there that night. I love that it was recorded so I can relive the experience over and over. It was a pleasant surprise to find out (by email a few weeks before the concert) that they were recording their first DVD. I still have one of the green picks with the turtle on it that I snagged off the stage after the concert and also still have the concert poster. Just little items I will always hang on to to remember being inches from Jim as waled on his guitar. Awesome shit man, awesome. Definitely my favorite song of all time!
First time I listened to this performance it forced me to close me eyes throughout its entire duration. I sat, bobbed my head and listened to the deepest depth of just how brilliant it is. As the song came to end, I opened my eyes, and a tear sprouted from my left eye. Chills ensued. My favorite song of all time and only one to ever make me cry. Fuck I can't wait to see them on Sunday in Raleigh.
Remember seeing them NYE when this dropped so did everyone's jaws.. the whole room was speechless like pin drop quiet.. magic.. we live in such a noisy world and when music can slow you down like this it feels like from another time. Always reminds me of Zeppelins No Quarter.
Live music at it's highest caliber. Raw, real and beautiful. It's simply uncanny. My Morning Jacket is that one in a million band that can bring feeling you've never felt, to the surface. Such power and emotion.
this song is the definition of perfection, imo. it's like the stars were perfectly aligned and everyone was just in tune, you know? it's still an experience to listen to after all these years..
One thousand times listening and each one Is highly heartmoving! Love it ever! Thank guys from this dark room and high volume sound in some random corner in Colombia for this masterpiece! Respect for the lightning guys AND that beautifull stage! Thanks thanks thanks for that space to letting sing and scream to my soul. Hope one day enjoy you live

I come back and listen to this a couple of times a year. This is honestly one of the most magical things i have ever seen, like the feeling i get when i listen to this song in combination with watching MMJ playing here is really honestly something so special to me. See you in a few months...
Real music transcends anything. We need more music like this. Listening to this takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and thoughts. Great fuckin stuff! !
I first learned about MMJ a while after they released "Z". I REALLY got hooked on that album. One day I opened up the paper and saw them in the entertainment section. The article said they'd be at SDSU open air theater that night on their Evil Urges tour and I was bummed that I'd be missing out. At the last minute I thought "Screw it, I'm going!". Called my girl from work and told her to find a baby sitter and told my buddy to get his girl and scoop us up. He was interested but not committed until I said I'll buy if he flies. An hour and a half later with plenty of time to spare before the show we got our tickets at the booth and got decent seats and we had quite possibly the best music experience! These guys are awesome live! There was no opening act either, just them for almost 3 hours! Can't wait to see them again in October!
this actually feels like what my childhood felt like when i was suicidal im guessing. a girl from a cafe, met with her yesterday and we started talking. this girl and i was messaging to each other later that day, and sent me this song. and that childhood friend and i actually want to become musicians too. and hearing the words and knowing who it was to, just got me crying hard. sent to the friend of mine today, and he got is reply as "this song actually made me cry very well" and i really feel him, at least to some degree. he has been the one to feel the vocals first exprience (somewhat since im alive). i really love this friend of mine. thank you for being here for me at all times, in my stupid times, times when you were stupid, we talked, laughed, drank a whole lot, cried, spitted, smoked.. also i remember the very moment he told me "you know, i actually feel like you are my brother" and just that moment i shed a couple tears, though i didnt want to since we were going to have fun. this guy man.. love you
All grieving emotions a human can possibly have concentrated on a good 11 Minutes of Expression. Nothing more artistic than something like that. Its climax just has to be 5:05, one of the best vocals I have ever heard in terms of emotional musicianship on that vocal line, followed by the haunting scream. Nothing short of freaking phenomenal.
I looked up Wordless Chorus because I remember liking that song years back, this song was the next recommended. This song is brilliant. I have listened to it dozens of times in the last few days. A guy I work with had been talking to me about his best friend that died from cancer, (he may have committed suicide in the end,) anyway, he still has dreams where his friend visits him. In his dreams he will be talking with his friend, but it always ends when him and his friend acknowledge they are in a dream. You can feel this song. The heaviness. The heartbreaking. The grieving processes. This song is a masterpiece.
November 10, 2020 I just lost my mind! Im speechless... His heartbreak that 1st guitar solo keeps this on repeat. He literally made that guitar convey his emotionally shattered broken heart ...my gawd he is mezmerizing 🙏
This version is the best ive seen on youtube. This song & performance has so much real raw emotion in it. It gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it. This song keeps me alive. As much as I find myself tired and worn I would hate myself if I left anyone with this much grief.

After no verbal words, his guitar does all the talking, very gripping
17 people probably have no idea about what high quality music is.
the greatest rock song of the 21st century so far
In a dream I saw you walkin'
Like a kid alive and talking
That was you
In the classroom you were teachin'
On the streets you were policing
That was you
To the one I now know most
I will tell them of your ghost
Like a thing that never, ever was
And all that ever mattered
Will some day turn back to batter
Like a joke
Behind thin walls you hid your feelings
Takes four legs to make a ceilin' like a thing
In a dream I saw you walkin'
With your friends alive and talking
That was you
Well I saw it in your movement
And even though you never knew it
Well, I knew just how sweet it could be
If you'd never left these streets
You had me worried
So worried
That this would last
But now I'm learning
Learning that this will pass...
💜🙏
