DAWGS fan here. ANYONE thinking about "if" Texas is making the CFP is ridiculous. If the committee left out a 13-0 ACC Champion FSU last year, it's not a stretch to think they'd leave out the ACC runner-up that "played a close game" but eventually lost to a team ranked 10 spots below it and was also favored to win. SMU's resume is not deserving by any stretch of the imagination, and if the committee follows it's precedent and drops SMU after losing to a team well below them the average number of spots, SMU would be out. But then again, there's several teams that have less than impressive resumes. Clemson's win ACTUALLY helps Alabama's argument, showing the overall weakness of the ACC as its champion has losses to both SEC teams it played, and Bama has wins over both of those schools. However, the committee has stated that a team is not expected to be penalized by losing in a conference championship. If you were told to pick out 11 teams in the country with a chance of beating Oregon at this moment, the truth is Indiana or SMU wouldn't be in the mix. But Miami, South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Bama all would be without a doubt. I don't know...
Ewers vs Manning: Ewers is a GREAT passer and is amazing at getting us from our side of the field to the redzone. IN the redzone area we have some issues where mobility is a factor. My take: Ewers drives us to the redzone, then throw in Manning to seal those drives off with TD’s. If not then we ride and d!e with Ewers the whole way. The Arch package is 99% a run play and other teams know this. So if we don’t use Manning more effectively to get scores (pass/run in the RZ) we might as well just keep Ewers in. I feel we’ll be super strong these next two years anyway, but to salvage this year I think we need to utilize Ewers to drive us down the field and when we get to the RZ Manning in there to seal the drive
