Yes, you are real and that is why we watch. The other frugal channels showing only perfection of stark white, gray and stainless, with kitchens larger than our whole apartment is not very relatable. I'm sure your channel will continue to flourish because it is uplifting and always so well done. Thanks.
Amen to this comment. This is why I am binging my way through all of your episodes. I love that you keep it real. I love that you aren’t “perfect” nor try to portray that you are (and really…who is…there’s no such thing). You and Paul are relatable and tell it like it is vs trying to show unrealistic things.
OMG! Dixie! That's the cutest thing ever !!! 😊 Watching your videos for me is the epitome of comfort ! thank you so much for being here! I too am very sensitive to the news so I basically just don't watch it unless it's something I really need to know. I believe there is equally as much good news - if not more good news- going on each day. Thank you for the reminder that prayer (instead of shopping) really helps! 💐💕🌈😊🐦
I never knew what to buy and how much after my grocer husband passed. I made this list and it helped. I do triple batch on Sunday (Sun & Mon Dinner, Tue Lunch) and plan a week of dinners on google calendar for the year. My list is beef, beans, chicken, dairy, fish, lamb, pork, eggs, seafood and turkey. Ten items repeat five times per year allowing for sales & frugal buys of higher cost, plus I have saved a bundle and really enjoyed my special dinners. I KNOW EXACTLY HOW MUCH I HAVE PLANNED. I can see ahead for cost and know exactly how much to buy. My weekly dinner calendar is Sun & Mon - Weekly main, Tue Tacos or Takeout, Wed Chicken, Thursday Ethnic like Asian or Italian, Fri is fish or Pizza and Sat is Burger or Steak. My plan is a tool and it works for me.
I use the plastic sheet bag for exactly the same thing! I pray a lot! 🙏🏼🙏🏼✝️ My husband is the same, to him he never needs anything, french fries 🍟 LOL my husband loves French fries!!
You guys are very real which is what keeps me coming back every week. I struggle with buying what I need since COVID. There was a panic in the air that's remained with me. On a positive note: I rarely eat out anymore and saw the savings immediately!
I have to keep my bedroom door closed because my Charley will do this every chance he gets but he doesn't stop until everything's at the bottom of the bed! LOL
I can relate on the "comfort" shopping and eating out. I truly enjoy eating out but I hate spending the money on it. I have reigned those habits in and haven't been doing either - only eating out on a special occasion once in a great while. It isn't easy but I keep my goals in mind when I get urges. Your channel has helped me so much with this as well! Thank you! Watching your videos feels like I'm getting advice from beloved family members!
All Winter we do not go out to eat but come summer it goes out the window All our favorite local fish shacks open up so it is lobster rolls, clam cakes, and friedclams Yup it is our treat and we don't feel guilty

Love the honesty, it resonates to me as I just went through the same sheet dilemma. As an aside, I like to grow pineapple plants. I was eyeing your pineapple on the fruit stand. Have you tried to grow one using the top? So easy and even if you don't get a fruit it is an interesting house plant which will like a sunny spot. Cheers

Dixie is so adorable.. she knows you love her.. i love animals. My husband and i found that when we have gone out... 2 times since Jan. I am disabled and he is a heart patient so our budget is tight and we can't always cook. i try to keep things in the fridge that we can have right away... lettuce for salads.. cut up veggies and fruit. etc. but every now and then.. we run out. since i know how much we would spend here in washington state when we went to mcdonalds. in our area... 2 cheeseburgers and 2 medium fries.. no drink was 13. 87. i was shocked. we took our niece and her hubby and child to taco bell 37.00 and something cents . again i was shocked. we found we can go to safeway and find 2 steaks for around 13 dollars if we look really well. . pat goes to safeway deli for fried chicken .. less than 8 dollars.. walmart deli has corndogs for less than a dollar a piece. so that is where we go to go out. decent prices.. and our safeway has rotissarie chicken on sale once a month for 6.99.. when my freezer is low... we will get 2 or 3.. portion them out .. i use those for a lot of things.. even taco meat. another favorite is to keep a container of chicken breasts cut up and season with our favorite seasonings.. we can make a quick chicken salad. we also grate cheese every other week to use in recipes... another favorite when we are in need of something fast.. 1 tortilla.. i spray pam on one side.. put the spray side down.. and cook till golden. than we flip it and i put in the cheese, chunked up chicken and taco sauce.. fold in half. and then when it is heated you have a great little meal. i put spinach leaves and or lettuce depending on what we have.. to stretch it for company.. i use black beans and or lentils. no one goes away hungry. everyone is very full.
Hi Emmy and Paul. I think Dixiebelle is related to Biscuit Bridgett. We have covers over both recliners in the tv room. Can usually find Biscuit under one of these coverings most days. Dixie is so cute. 💜
Totally relate .my mom was this way with back to school sales.it was 30 notebooks for $3. So mom got 30,and each of us still at home, which was 8 of us,got 30 notebooks.multiple times, from multiple stores.no family, not even mine with 23 kids, honestly needed that many notebooks.
I think I'm the opposite on buying things that are on sale. I will see something that's on sale that I know we could use or that I have wanted and I will talk myself out of buying that thing. And then I will kick myself for doing it. I just did that last week. We needed another garden hose and I saw one on clearance for $5 and it was usually 35 dollars. And I talked to myself out of spending that $5. Then my husband said we really kind of need that, so I went back to get it and it was gone and they had no more. I totally sabotage myself by talking myself out of buying something even if it's a good price :-(
If you NEED it, you can afford it, and it's a great price, buy it and save yourself some money! We even buy if it's something we know we will need later at a great price.
Widows often spend indiscriminately after losing their spouse. I felt I needed this or that because I needed it to keep my home "safe". I need that stretchy tape in case a pipe leaks. I need that tool. I need that kitchen gadget. Because I need to cook like everyone us still living at home. It's an issue. But I can't undo. Now I ask God about all purchases. He is my husband and my comforter.
Oh Maureen! I am so sorry! I think you have summed it up beautifully when you wrote "Now I ask God about all purchases. He is my husband and my comforter!" Amen! He is always with you!
Just a thought...we here in Ireland love beef, especially roast beef. As you know it's really expensive, and eating at a restaurant has gone sky high. So we compromise...get the housekeeper cut of beef...its so cheap, and into the crock pot. Give it about 8 to 10 hours. I often pop it on if I'm nipping to the toilet during the night. The beef turns out like butter, just delicious. We have absolutely given up on eating out after years of having it good, due to an illness, I had to review everything on an extremely small pension. In saying that, I run a tight ship, short of nothing, all Bill's paid immediately. Try the beef in the crock pot, tray of roast potatoes, fresh veggie, stuffing etc and gravy. Paul wont want his roast beef kick anywhere else...
The casserole looks delicious! I’m going to make it too. Do you think it would freeze well? Thank you! Hahaha Dixie wants to be like momma and go under the covers. 🐶 so cute!
I stopped watching the 24/7 news shows several months ago and I changed to only basic tv channels so I don't even get those channels anymore. I would react like you. So much more peaceful life without those news channels. I was raised on meat, potatoes and vegetables too. I don't remember my mother ever cooking any pasta dish. Only goulash once in awhile which was macaroni with the grd bf and tomatoes. Now I eat the same but also make pasta dishes too. That's good Paul can do a lot himself without paying someone else. I would have gotten 2 sets of those sheets too, after first thinking wow...I'm going to get $60 worth of those since one was originally $60. haha I would think insane about it first though. lol Yum chicken Cordon Bleu. Dixie.....haha gotta love her!!
Yes, I could do without the news totally lol! Paul said he would have pasta every once in a while but it was "American spaghetti" whatever that was lol! Be well Sis! Thanks as always!
Emmy - I can so relate to how you feel about the news. I can hardly bear to watch it these days - and actually I don't. But recently, God gave me this verse found in Isaiah 41.10 "Fear not, for I am with you. Do not look anxiously about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you. Surely, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." That has been such a comfort to me in these crazy times we are living in! BTW - That chicken cordon blue casserole looks DELICIOUS and I absolutely LOVE the casserole dish you baked it in! I'm frugal, but I think I'd HAVE to buy it if I found one like it someplace - cutest baking dish I've ever seen!
Wonderful episode! Your thinking through process reminds me of some of the same things we discuss in our TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) meetings. So much of our success, whether trying to live a frugal life, trying to lose weight, exercise, embrace positivity, etc., depends on our self talk. Thanks for keeping it real.
I have some of the same struggles as you with the DIY and negative news and I also struggle like Paul with eating out. You are my favorite channel and it brings me joy when I see you post. I always find a smile on my face during them. Keep up the great work!
I gave up watching the news probably thirty news ago after all channels were covering a particularly nasty happening which kept me awake at night. When a friend asked how do I know whats going on I said if something was serious enough someone would tell me. One late evening my phone rang. It was my daughter. She said for me to turn on the TV.. 'Which channel' I replied. Sobbing she said it didn't matter. I turned on the tv in time to see the second of the twin towers being hit. 😢 next day at work I mentioned to a friend , 'Remember I said I would be told .........?😡
I watch and love your channel from Wales. Would you tell me how much a stick of butter weighs as we buy blocks by weight i.e. 250gram or 500 gram. So when it comes to your recipes I am always unsure with butter. Also we measure by weight in recipes whereas you do it by cup which I really prefer. I livdd in Australia for many years where they do it your way too. ❤
Thank you, Emmie & Paul, for your wonderful nature scene introduction. It was priceless in a frugal world. I thoroughly appreciated the complement of the video, too
Where we keep a pantry if items for probably 6 months worth of items, I too struggle when I see things on sale. Prices are going up and I fret over missing out on a deal.
I use the bags that sheets, comforters and blankets come in and use extra large (comforter size) to store my seasonal linens, pillows and throws and the smallers ones, I use for craft supplies. I can only take so much of the news. My anxiety level goes through the roof. I'm going to try your cordon bleu recipe. I did not know that lemons could be frozen? What about oranges?
We are both working to lose weight. We had almost stopped eating out. Could not find good food anywhere. Last evening we found a place that had great sandwiches, slaw, and fries for 15.00 for two. We will be eating there from time to time. 😀
I have to say Emmy, this is the probably one of the best videos you have ever done. It really spoke to me and I realized through your commentary and other comments is that the stores DO want you to feel insecure... it is a marketing tactic... I always kind of have known that but, verbalizing really helps. I am the completely same as you. I buy because it "is a good deal, you wont ever find this again!" But really ?come on people it is still always there... even in a pandemic!
This recipe looks so yummy! I will be adding it to my list of recipes to make! I too struggle with not wanting to buy more than I really need when there's a great sale! And, oh my goodness, Dixie,,, that face though,,, so sweet! Sending virtual hugs back at ya! Blessings to you, Paul & sweet Dixie!
I have always been bad about stock piling groceries when they are on sale, then months later they end up expired. I grew up hearing we weren't going to have enough food for the winter and I guess I still have that inside (farm family living off the land). It's something I'm trying to shift.
That sweet ball of fur!!😘😘 My Diva dog did the same thing on my bed! She scratch around until she had the sheet and blankets “ just so”, and curl up for a long nap. I think they’re “nesting”- a behavior carried over from when her ancestors lived in the wild and dug in leaves, twigs, etc to build themselves a bed. Come to think of it, i kinda do the same thing! I have to plump my pillow just so, and get the covers just the way i want them tucked under my neck. It takes me a while to get Comfy, so Dixie, i get it!!😂😂 Re: dining out- going out for dinner can be more than just about the food. It’s a break from the home routine, and we pay for the ambience, the sounds, the waiter, and to be out with other people. We need to do that!! Tell Paul not to feel guilty about what it costs! The Mental health break is worth every Penny, so enjoy!!❤️🎉👍
I love Chicken Cordon Bleu I have never made homemade before but I can learn how to. I love it when when we have left over chicken then I get to make my specialty chicken dish it’s chicken cut in bite sized pieces then garlic and onions and green peppers caramelized in a frying pan then combine them and pepper but when you add salt it depends on what seasons you used on the chicken if it’s has salt don’t add any or it will be to salty I now cause I have done that before. Luckily it was not to bad. I bet we would of made great neighbors. I love Christmas and movies and cartoons I can watch Christmas movies any time of the year I just watched one today I have a lot of movies to watch I get the for Christmas my birthday Easter valentines my mom Betty Tifft and my Brother buy the there not all expensive some are as low as 3 dollars and some change cause I don’t remember down to the cent. I love my movies. Video games.
I forgot to add fry the chicken in a frying pan and brown it in butter or margarine which is what I used first then add garlic and onions and green peppers and stir it to combine it and let the flavors blend together don’t forget to taste to see if it needs any more garlic and done.
Women who have been taught to be traditional housewives have a lot of challenges with negative news and anything that will disrupt their nesting. Men are taught to have a tuffer skin and not pay attention to their emotions until a later time. Thank goodness the younger generations of girls are learning to be more neutral and to act not react. emotionally when some out side element disrupts their life.
@@FrugalMoneySaver Agree , everyone has been challenged more then usual from current affairs the past two years and onward. The helpful information from your channel and others has made things much easier. Personal observation of a lot of people in my circle gave me that traditional housewife analysis. Some of their reactions were surprising.
Loved this video! My dog has been doing that to my bed after I make it. Only she goes under head first and really balls the blankets up. My husband comes home from work and thinks I didn't make the bed lol. We have had many laughs over that. Your casserole looked fabulous!!! I would have served it with a baked potato. In Maine its all about the potato!!! My 18 year old son and I picked up and installed our exterior kitchen door alone. What a job! It turned out nice but we had an awful time to get it the way we wanted it!! I actually did a little video on my channel showing the project.
Guilty 🤚 of multiple item buys at exceptional deals🙄 I have made some real mistakes doing this in the past and then had to store all those items! Geez....and I still catch myself wanting to do this....but now I do stop myself. I know for a fact ....RIGHT now in my house....I've got at least 20 Bath & Body Works candles...the big 3 wick ones & 50+ of the wall diffusers😬. Some were gifts ...some were sales. I haven't bought candles or wall diffusers in 5 years. Why would I need to...right!! LOL. I warned my son if the house were to ever catch on fire😯 it would smell like cinnamon & cloves....and fresh linen. 🤪 I am a reformed B&B Works addict. 💪 I am a reformed glutton sale buyer😁
How sweet is that Dixie Belle? Seems they enjoy being on or in our bed. Our fur babies are like our kids. We love them and they bring so much joy to our lives! My little girl is a little under the weather right now from an episode of allergies. She will be better, but I have hated to see her so miserable. We had a visit with her Vet today, and she confirmed what I was thinking. Allergy meds and reassuring words from our trusted doc, and all should improve in a few days. 🐶 🐕 Great video. Thanks for keeping it real. You encourage me and I think about the frugal education I'm getting from the few channels I try to support. My spending has been so much better, but there is always room for improvement. I find frugal cooking a joy and I just never know what a bunch of leftovers will become. Thanks for sharing your recipe. The casserole looks delicious! I’m going to make it too. Do you think it would freeze well? Thank you! Hahaha Dixie wants to be like momma and go under the covers. 🐶 so cute!
I have never frozen it so I really can't say. Sorry! Thanks for watching Christy!
Love that verse! I have turned to it many times! Thank you!
Hey 💖💖💖Dixiebelle💖💖💖Paul💖💖💖Emmy💖💖💖Ritzi & I send 💖💖💖& Cheer from Texas🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wand much love back to you and Ritzi !!
My number is 3. I buy things in 3’s.
Love that Granny! Sounds like a ;perfect number lol!
You are so welcome Alice! Thanks so much for watching and being here!
I struggle with a husband that doesn’t want to be frugal and has no sense of money 😞
Dining out gives you a rest from cooking 💖
I have some of the same struggles as you with the DIY and negative news and I also struggle like Paul with eating out. You are my favorite channel and it brings me joy when I see you post. I always find a smile on my face during them. Keep up the great work!
Lisa that is so kind of you to say! Thanks so much!
Im not a big fan of Swiss cheese, do you think another cheese would work? Provolone maybe?
I think any cheese that melts well would work. Swiss is just the "traditional" cordon bleu cheese lol!
How do you plant the pineapple top. Any special steps
Thanks for being transparent. my husband and I struggle with a couple of the very same things 😊
Robin, thanks for watching!
I agree! We really try to monitor how much News we watch.
A stick of butter weighs approximately 114 grams
good one thx
So happy, thank you Cindy!
I want Dixie hugs she’s soooo sweet ❤
Thank you, Emmie & Paul, for your wonderful nature scene introduction. It was priceless in a frugal world. I thoroughly appreciated the complement of the video, too
So kind of you to say!
Where we keep a pantry if items for probably 6 months worth of items, I too struggle when I see things on sale. Prices are going up and I fret over missing out on a deal.
That's me Brenda! I don't mind getting a lot in food...it's the nonessential sales that get me!
Yes!
We are both working to lose weight. We had almost stopped eating out. Could not find good food anywhere. Last evening we found a place that had great sandwiches, slaw, and fries for 15.00 for two. We will be eating there from time to time. 😀
Oh my gosh! $15 for two people. That is incredible! Enjoy!
You got that right Amanda! So glad the video was helpful! Thank you for watching!
I prepared a modified version of this. Yum thank you Waving to you from Michigan
Waving back!!
Dixie is so cute. 😂 My dog does the same thing to my bed. This recipe looks easy and delicious. Thank you for spending the time to share it.
Thank you for watching Patty!
Thanks so much Kim!! Yes, Dixie is so sweet for sure!
This recipe is going on the menu after Easter!!! Love it uses low sodium swiss with the salty ham.
Glad the video was helpful Janey!
New subscriber here. Your channel is so uplifting 😊
Yay! Thank you Gail! Welcome! So happy you found us!
watch furniture flipping teacher on you tube you will love it.
Thanks so much I’ll look into it!
So genuine. Best thing is you have each other to help keep it real. 💞
Always! Thanks so much Zazi!!
I have always been bad about stock piling groceries when they are on sale, then months later they end up expired. I grew up hearing we weren't going to have enough food for the winter and I guess I still have that inside (farm family living off the land). It's something I'm trying to shift.
That's hard I understand. I think we all have that fear of "what if..." Hope the video was helpful!
It takes me a while to get Comfy, so Dixie, i get it!!😂😂
Re: dining out- going out for dinner can be more than just about the food. It’s a break from the home routine, and we pay for the ambience, the sounds, the waiter, and to be out with other people. We need to do that!! Tell Paul not to feel guilty about what it costs! The Mental health break is worth every Penny, so enjoy!!❤️🎉👍
Love how you explained dining out! Thank you! Makes total sense!
I totally use the plastic that sheets come in. It's basically a free travel cube!
Kathryn exactly! Such a neat freebie lol! Thanks!
I do the same thing! But I’m working on it! I ask do I really need it?
I do the same all the time Suzy! Thanks for watching!
Love Dixie!
Know yourselves. Buy the roast! Lol
Marie good advice lol!
Hello! New subscriber here from CA.
Welcome!! So happy to have you here Valerie! Thank you!
The chicken dish sounds so wonderful Kimberly! Thanks for sharing!
I forgot to add fry the chicken in a frying pan and brown it in butter or margarine which is what I used first then add garlic and onions and green peppers and stir it to combine it and let the flavors blend together don’t forget to taste to see if it needs any more garlic and done.
I struggle with wanting to buy candles. This was a fun video.
Thanks so much Dawn!
I adore & love you & your wonderful videos !
Thank you so much Larry! So happy you are here with us!
We never eat out we cook so we can eat it for 2 days
Very smart Ruby!
❤️
💗💗💗
I use those sheet plastic bag for the same exact thing
Yes! So practical Irene!
I think with all that the world has been through the last year or so anyone regardless of their age has concerns.
@@FrugalMoneySaver Agree , everyone has been challenged more then usual from current affairs the past two years and onward. The helpful information from your channel and others has made things much easier. Personal observation of a lot of people in my circle gave me that traditional housewife analysis. Some of their reactions were surprising.
those plastic bags are great for shoes too ,for traveling
Oh great tip Rana!
Your hair is beautiful!
Thank you so much 😀
Great video, keeping it real as always. Thanks x
Thanks so much Marion!
Thank you dears
Thank you too Maria, for watching!
Thanks for sharing
Thank you Louise for watching!
Great video!
Thanks so much Kim!
Lol Dixie looks cosy
She is is such a Diva!
WOW! Good for you doing the door! That's wonderful! Thanks for watching!
Great video😊
Thank you!
Enjoyed the visit ;)
Thank you so much!
Guilty 🤚 of multiple item buys at exceptional deals🙄
I have made some real mistakes doing this in the past and then had to store all those items!
I am a reformed B&B Works addict. 💪
I am a reformed glutton sale buyer😁
LOL! Thanks for sharing R N! I am getting better! 2 sheet sets was great for me lol! Thanks so much for sharing!
Omigosh I love Dixie 😍
Awww Emily thank you so very much!
🐶 🐕
Great video. ((Hugs))🤗🤗
Willette, DixieBell had seasonal allergies too! We took her to the vet as well. She's doing better as I hope your fur baby is too! Thanks so much for the kind words! Hugs right back!
Oh, that Dixie 😂😂😂 love it! I’m more like you, my hubster is more like Paul.....thanks for sharing that yummy recipe!
You are so welcome Carolyn! Thanks for being here!
