Every time I watch a sensible interview of a female actor like this- I realise how unfair the Indian film industry and we as stakeholders have been in inhibiting them from reaching their full potential. I wonder how many such conscious and observant actors never got a chance to show that side of theirs, playing the damsel in distress, and that alone. I was as pleasantly surprised as Baradwaj Rangan was as this interview unraveled- discovering that Rakul Preet is so much more than what I thought she would be. I was hard pressed to think about one good performance of Rakul across languages- I do not know if she is lacking in skill because she never really got a chance to fully express herself in any of her roles.
finally a good comment that talks about the root of the issue than blaming the actress of having no talent or not having done any good roles.. fact is there are multiple things related to this...
I've never watched any of her interviews and i only clicked on this because of Bharadwaj Rangan but wow this was such a breath of fresh air. I think all new and upcoming actors, especially women, should meet with her at least once. haha...Galatta Plus has been serving some amazing interviews!

i like how rakul answered the question at 14:57 .. i found it weird how baddy said the south is still dominated by north heroines.. The biggest actresses in South as of today are all south indian . Even the newer girls like pooja and rashmika are south indian. There are hardly any north heroines in south today. 😬.

She can really act as a narcissistic character. It looks naturally. She did one well in NGK. However, I also think if she wants she can also act as a bandit soldier. That’s her challenge, wether she only want to do glamour roles or challenging roles . Look at Sai Pallavi in Gargi or Aiswarya Rajesh in Vada Chennai or Gayathiri Shankar in Super Dulxe. Can she act such roles in those characters? If not she may just be another Hansika or Kiran Rathod. It’s not about speaking like a smart women but really acting in roles that bring her to realistic film characters. I think most probably just like other telungu actresses she would prefer to go Bollywood but down there go more lady actresses who will eat her up if come to take their pie. She can be really an amazing actress if she pull through various characters outside her norms. If she want she can I think.
