The history gets a bit cloudy about they getting in a good fire position and fighting till no more bullets and even tough trying some melee attack. They fought so fierce that the Germans tough they had received reinforcements. In the end the advancing army found a grave with the inscription in German "Here lies 3 Brazilian heroes". Something very unusual given that Germanic racism at that time would hardly recognize any good thing about mixed race individuals like those 3 Brazilians.

É verdade! Os caras deram a vida pra salvar um regimento encurralado pelos alemães, porém os alemães não cntavam com 3 guerreiros em outro flanco. Os 3 poderiam ir embora e deixar o regimento BRASILEIRO, por conta do destino, mas decidiram ficar e dar a vida por uma guerra que não era deles, mas pra salvar seus conterrâneos . E eliminaram quase todo o regimento alemão. Quando enfim a munição acabou, e chutaram bombas, atiraram paus e pedras até tombarem por fim. Nunca vi um filme de Hollywood, mostrar tanta dedicação assim. Nem Rambo. Mas esse fato foi realidade. Actually, the FEB soldiers did use USA helmets and jackets, as their regular uniforms weren't adequate for the colder climate of Italy.
