I grew up watching and playing against the Powells. Ha, I actually heard about Casey before I saw him play. Three absolutely fantastic players. And, all three had unique styles and skills. But, I have to say that the Thompson's creativity is unmatched. So many of their goals and moves have never, ever been seen before. Quite possibly enabled by the openness of Coach Marr as well. Anyway, ALL of them are some of the best to ever play, Powells and Thompsons. Not slightly anyone.
This video and the game of lacrosse is so underrated. I just sat down and had thanksgiving with one of my cousins who was an all American at Rutgers. He proceeded to tell me a story about the time he lost against Jeremy Thompson at Syracuse. During that game Jeremy would do the impossible by dodging in and out of defenders and score. They proceeded to rewatch the game film and realized Jeremy was on the field for 47 out of the 50 minutes of the game. Took the face offs, played offense, and ran back on defense. This game truly just means something different to these brothers.
Be like the Thompsons: It's not all about ripping corners and 90+mph shots. These guys can control the ball and place it better than anyone else in the game. They can do with one hand what most players can't do with two. They place the ball exactly where it needs to be. That's how they score all their goals.
Tyler McCulloch Totally agree here - I watch guys on my summer men's team try and rip fast shots all day but have no control (and usually miss the goal) ... I keep telling 'em just get close and dunk it in, stop trying to get top pipe 90mph shots because you just waste the possession... And hell, they're actually good at getting near the goal too, so it's not like they're not getting the 1-on-1's with the goalie. -_- oh well. I play D :P
They might put up goals but when was there last championship? They are so unpredictable which is a curse and blessing the teammates don't know what's going on but neither do the opposing team. I don't think they're all that good
+MathurCJ 18 ^^yes the Thompson brothers broke records, become pros in 3 different leagues (mll, nll, world games), and became the most influential lacrosse players of this generation because they're not "all that good".
