I think these were the hardest working men in show business! I think I would have fallen in love with Merrill first if I wasn't so young when I first saw The Osmonds. Although I quickly fell in love with Merrill's voice!
Melinda Childers Oh yes, the cassette recorders! LOL What a great idea though! When I watch these videos all of those old memories just flood my mind...so glad that they taped these concerts! I went to all four of these...two shows on the 28th & two shows on the 29th..I still remember everyone singing Happy Birthday to Wayne on the 28th...it was his 21st birthday! My girlfriend and I had our little white Sailor hats on that we bought at the fair....mine said DONNY and hers said JAY! Soooo much fun!
Anyone else living in Gahanna at this time? This day is forever imprinted in my brain. My brother and my dad dropped us off at the fair, and then drove to SD, where we all joined them in October. My mom let me go down to the front; one of the best days of my life :)
No wonder the girls were crazy over these guys! They had everything--musicianship, talent, show biz experience by then, dance moves, looks, worked so hard to do a great show each and every time. There has never been another group like that, and most likely never will be. The reason, besides all the talent is that they loved each other and it shows.
Well let's see...I'm 53 now and I'm just hearing about this show. How on earth did the Osmonds come to Ohio and I missed it? I'm crushed....thank god for this footage. Thanks dundonian35!! I'm still crushing on you Donny!!
The special Being the Osmonds showed that they had family issues as well. The Jacksons are still a family unit just like the Osmonds, both experienced horrible pains from success.
Hey F1478963, It is the same opening................but not the exact show. That "LIVE" LP was done indoors (there are certain aspects of the sound that distinguish between this show and that LIVE recording)
I think there is alot of alledged bad to Jacksons but I think Osmonds was more 9 personalities (8 boys one girl) dealing with each other. They seem to be relatively unscathed in their devotion to one another.
They could have done with a good choreographer. Half the time they look like they are about to take off in flight with those wings flapping like that, lol.
I was in that crowd somewhere at the age of 12
i think i spot you in the crowd. just joking!

Ohio State fair.....Aug 28th & 29th 1972...4 great concerts by the Osmonds..all FREE! I was 14 and this was sooo electrifying!
I was there too! Saw them many times at the Ohio State Fair I think this concert I actually took a cassette tape recorder and recorded it LOL

After watching Being an Osmond and what we know about the Jacksons I feel so sorry for these young me and what they suffered just to entertain people.

I never realized how great they were! No lip synching here!

From Anna,
Hi Helen, Thanks for posting this.
Your friend,
Anna
i just learned a few days ago that Donny couldn't read music.....i was surprised since he plays the piano so well
No lip synching going on here..I am amazed at how they were able to sing with all that dancing around..
I can't believe this surfaced so many years later! Wonderful, energetic fun!
I was there, I will always love them. Especially Donny!! ♥

Oh dear. I hope you're back is better soon. Well, no better way to suffer than watching the boys do their thing, especially our Merrill.
Awesome!!! Is this where their first "Live" album was recorded? I wish this was available on video years ago.
Crazy horse
Hey F1478963,

what is that first song they sing i love it..
Too bad the Cowsils didn't get as big as these guys, they definitely had the talent and did have some hits but were cut short due to poor management.
Love me some Cowsills💖
