740HP MCXtrema unleashed on track: Maserati's track-only toy testing at Misano Circuit!

- During the recent test days organized by Kateyama at Misano Circuit, Maserati brought one of their new MCXtrema for a development session. The MCXtrema is an exclusive track-only toy which will be built in just 62 units, following the trend of many other supercars and hypercars manufacturers which provide an extreme track variant of their cars to be driven during scheduled track days and/or events.
Of course it's based on the Maserati MC20, more precisely from the MC20 GT2 as the Xtrema adopts many components of this racing version, but thanks to the intense use of carbon fiber and the removal of many unnecessary components the MCXtrema is over 250 kg lighter than the MC20, stopping the scale at 1,250 kg.
The Nettuno engine (a 3.0-liter twin-turbo, 90° V6) has been fitted with two new turbochargers, increasing the power output to 740hp, sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential manual transmission paired with a mechanical limited slip differential.

best Nettuno Engine sound, Growl and got that high pitch on it, but still Maserati MC12 Versione Corse is still the best sounding Maserati. But the modern rendition is not bad at all

How does the front windshield have those oily colors on it? I know there’s other supercars that have it too. Is it some kind of tint?

They are made from composite instead of glass to save weight, that's why it has those "oily" colors to it.

With all the emission stuff killing off fun cars with personality I hope more people make these track toys. Would be awesome if someone made a tiny mid engine I3 h shift central seat trackday toy (like a baby T.50) that was affordable though.

Big fan of the powertrain but the overall design leaves a lot to desire. Still can’t fathom how Ferrari, Pagani and Lamborghini can all make high performance track day cars that are beautiful pieces of machinery but somehow Maserati can’t?? I mean the mc20 is quite a good looking car, how’d it somehow get uglier?? All the fxx cars were stunning, same with the zonda r and yet despite the base platform being quite an attractive car, this somehow isn’t?
I also made this same type of comment.... This design is very detached and irregular. The front is sleek and narrow but rear is bulky, those wide side vents feel very out of place. Even Maserati's old car the MC12, despite being sibling car of Ferrari Enzo looked less attractive. The FXX cars and Zonda R are masterpieces but Maserati looks dull in comparison
