I recently got my first set of Progressive Tension Strings (Misha Preferred Heavy 6) ; I'm looking forward to trying them out!
it's truly mind boggling how no manufacturer is doing equal tension strings, or optimized for a drop tuning. They would only offer e.g. with the low 3 strings being thicker, why? Only the lowest needs to be thicker for a drop tuning
D'addario and stringjoy offer balanced sets
@@hchoe741 now that I see it, they really do (D'addario). Not bad. But it's still strange that the major string brands wouldn't do this already in e.g. the 80s.
Adding heavier gauges to the the low end with Juggernaut pups is risky. Chtulu wakes and neighbours complain that their womenfolk jiggle.
Also, walls crumble.
Lol
I just really want a set optimized for Drop A but with a wound third. 12-60/62 with a wound third would be perfect
Horizon, as a user of string things it would greatly help us if we had a custom set option and a tension calculator in the future.
Or, what TheStringSource does and let’s you know if it’s SLT/LT/MD/Heavy for whatever tuning you’re using.
Of course, that would be far in the future. A lot of R&D would need to go into doing that. A suggestion though.
Misha Stringsoor.
Right on!! Been playing these strings for over a year now.
I thought they'd only just been released
@@tombroadhead2377 I can see how you
Thought that.
Hey @Horizon Devices any chance of getting a more reasonable pricing on shipping outside of US? I wanted 3 packs of string for 30$, and would need to pay 20$ on shipping. Or somehow have availability in EU too?
The aspect ratios change faster than they change their strings
Hope you sell this in India 🔥
How can I get as low as some of the periphery songs (Reptile for example is drop G) on a 6 string 25.5"? The "Misha Preferred" 58s aren't enough, are they?
There's no perfect way since that tuning in particular is kind of extreme. You can certainly do it with a 58. I use a 11-56 set and it sounds fine when I drop it to A or G on a six-string 25.5 scale. Is it ideal and absolutely perfect? Well, no. But a 58 would be just fine, especially if you're only throwing into that tuning to learn that single song. I'd say go for it. Any thicker and you start losing the point of a thinner string, which is that spank.
@@xrainymondayx The problem is that the frets stop working. When I go that low, my first fret starts going up more than a half step.
That sounds like it could be an intonation issue then. Get a solid thick boi set of strings and take the time to adjust your saddle length, height and your truss rod and you should get those first frets working again
We'd recommend going heavier then to our ultra heavy 6 set!
@@HorizonDevices Thanks for responding! I'll try both sets and see what I can get working!
3:55 when you realize you can play reptile better than Misha itself 😂
On the day you offer coated strings like Elixir do, I will become a client.
Dope!
I must say their heavy 7 set for drop G is amazing. I was on nyxl 64’s but ut always sounded a little too scooped, especially on the low G, the horizon strings have more mids, which just sounds
Fuller, the nyxl’s are a little brighter but the chugs sounds better on horizon.
where can i get them europe? germany/austria e.g. . big thx!
I'm guessing they're manufactured by Dunlop like the pedals
Yep!

I would say, the Horizon Devices strings are made for riffing, not for shredding! Too hard and too tight for bends and vibratos. Currently, my set of 6 boxes of Progressive Tension strings is collecting dust.
Feel free to send them to me! If it's the 9-47 those are perfect.
Blues guitarist have been playing drop tuning and open tunings for centuries with no gripes. What is it about metal guitarists that feel the need to over Engineer something that essentially is an art form not a science. So many "snake oil" products are rammed down people's throats and people think that it will make them sound like a certain artist or make them a better player when the reality is that you will always be you regardless of what you play and in 99% of cases, the listener doesnt give a toss what strings you are playing cos they all sound the same once you plug them into any signal chain
Have you at least tried tuning down to Drop G# or any of Periphery's tunings? The issues that run in those low tunings is that they sound very muddy and don't intonate very well, so the most natural solution is to use thicker strings. Most string brands don't offer much when it comes to heavier sets and when they do, the tension on all strings there are usually uneven, which is why Misha has been making his own sets to alleviate those problems.
@@benjipc5637 I play in drop deez
i have issues with 25.5"/6-string and drop C. no way ... i hope i find them in europe
Bruh…. Try tuning to drop A using a standard set of standard Ernie balls.
Different sets of strings do matter
@@beastlybeast2716 tried so many different strings.
