    This is Awesome. Yes, it is true that in most UA-cam videos, they just talk about growing and caring for cardamom plants and keep hovering their camera /phone over just the one plant that they have. They just keep reciting what We can already search on the Internet. Or even if they sow seeds they don't show an update in the same video. But, Suraj Sir, You provide such intricate details, patience. Your hardwork and dedication shows in your videos. I just got a live cardamom plant on 17th May, today is 19th May. After failing to grow it from seeds for past 6 yrs!! Thanks again for this video. I'm sure most UA-camrs will be amazed by this and start to grow it from seed like you did.

    Thank you sir. It would be good to see the plant once fully grown to see what it’s size is. How does it then produce more cardamom pods ?

  • @0anant0
    @0anant0 10 місяців тому

    Very good info, and more importantly, the follow thru with actual plants. Normally, the cardamom sold in grocery store (in airtight plastic bags) is 'too dry' so that the seeds are not viable. To grow from seeds, the cardamom should be fresh and green -- as you have shown. When you are indeed able to grow them from seeds, it takes about 4 years for the plant to produce cardamom pods.

  • @nunyabiznes33
    @nunyabiznes33 2 роки тому +1

    I don't know if the seeds sold in my country would grow. They're not fresh from what I heard. Maybe I'd look for them on Indian ethnic stores that specialize in spices.
    BTW what is the nitric acid for? Would it not germinate without that?

I just wondered whether the seeds will germinate or not, which were just from my kitchen. I search for information and found this. And now I'm laughing to myself 😅🤭 Sir, took such a long process, with those chemicals etc.. Kept it for 10 days before sowing the seeds, and what about my seeds 😂 will it ever 👀 peep our to look for it's friend... Well happy to know about the procedures, it really needs patients, otherwise we would get disappointed. Thanking you Sir for the well detailed video. ❤❤🙏🙏🙏 lot's of love and respect from Assam.🤗

      Is there any substitute that is safe for domestic use instead of HNO3?

    • @kristofp72
      @kristofp72 4 роки тому +1

      @@NilayParikh not sure but apparently the reasoning behind this mechanism is that birds/animals eat fruits then poop out the seeds. The salpeter (potassium nitrate) content in their excrement triggers the seed to germinate and use the nitrogen as fertilizer for their initial growth. This explains why usage of HNO3 has a similar effect.
      I know this doesn't exactly answer your question but knowing the mechanism may help in finding alternatives. You have to think from nature's perspective.
