This is Awesome. Yes, it is true that in most UA-cam videos, they just talk about growing and caring for cardamom plants and keep hovering their camera /phone over just the one plant that they have. They just keep reciting what We can already search on the Internet. Or even if they sow seeds they don't show an update in the same video. But, Suraj Sir, You provide such intricate details, patience. Your hardwork and dedication shows in your videos. I just got a live cardamom plant on 17th May, today is 19th May. After failing to grow it from seeds for past 6 yrs!! Thanks again for this video. I'm sure most UA-camrs will be amazed by this and start to grow it from seed like you did.
Very good info, and more importantly, the follow thru with actual plants. Normally, the cardamom sold in grocery store (in airtight plastic bags) is 'too dry' so that the seeds are not viable. To grow from seeds, the cardamom should be fresh and green -- as you have shown. When you are indeed able to grow them from seeds, it takes about 4 years for the plant to produce cardamom pods.
I don't know if the seeds sold in my country would grow. They're not fresh from what I heard. Maybe I'd look for them on Indian ethnic stores that specialize in spices. BTW what is the nitric acid for? Would it not germinate without that?
sir you are a true master...just before clicking your video I saw another guy's video on this topic and he made a nearly 5 min video and in the end all he said was not to waste time trying to grow the plant from the seeds and closed the video and also he has turned off the comments and now I saw this beautiful video and I am really happy that I came across this lovely video - I love watching your videos quite often and thanks for posting this and can you please be kind and give an alternative to nitric acid becoz i donno where to find it...your kind response to this would be greatly appreciated - thank you sir ji!!
I am going to try this, but looking at the percentage of seeds that got germinated, I am having mixed feelings about it. All I want is 1 sapling and I will consider it a success. Awesome video. Thank you for demonstrating the process in simple steps.
❤🙏Thank you Sir for this video. Last night I've just shocked only one cardamom which were available in our kitchen, and today I've planted it already. I just wondered whether the seeds will germinate or not, which were just from my kitchen. I search for information and found this. And now I'm laughing to myself 😅🤭 Sir, took such a long process, with those chemicals etc.. Kept it for 10 days before sowing the seeds, and what about my seeds 😂 will it ever 👀 peep our to look for it's friend... Well happy to know about the procedures, it really needs patients, otherwise we would get disappointed. Thanking you Sir for the well detailed video. ❤❤🙏🙏🙏 lot's of love and respect from Assam.🤗
Dear Sir, I have been planted big cardamom plant before 3 year in a pot, now end of March, 2020 bloomed with blossoms and few are maturing in north Kolkata.
Sir, Mariculan should be used? My Gardner used Mariculan plant growth regulator in all plants of curry patta plant, mint plants, indoor plants and even on tulsi and all small plants. Please guide
What does the Nitric acid do? Does it remove the part of the outer coat of the seed. In that case can rubbing the seed on sand paper do the same thing, as the acid is not available to everyone. Thanks.
Try using sand paper or soak it for a week by changing water regularly! I am trying soaking method. If we get raw cardamom which are not processed by heating on oven that's much better. Best to get cardamom plant from nurseries!
Actually I also got to know about you through social media my relatives are very much into gardening for like decades and grow farms and kitchen garden so got to know about you. Will definitely share this video. And will be a waiting for the hibiscus video. Take care
Good morning Suraj ji. I'm unable to see the pest which is eating away leaves of my greens and young shooting plants. Kindly guide me with some remedies to save my plants.
Sir can you tell me that .. if I can grow Cardamom plant .. Will I get Cardamom from this plant in Kolkata/West Bengal region .. Your answer will be very much appreciated ..
@@NilayParikh not sure but apparently the reasoning behind this mechanism is that birds/animals eat fruits then poop out the seeds. The salpeter (potassium nitrate) content in their excrement triggers the seed to germinate and use the nitrogen as fertilizer for their initial growth. This explains why usage of HNO3 has a similar effect. I know this doesn't exactly answer your question but knowing the mechanism may help in finding alternatives. You have to think from nature's perspective.
