I feel that HBO MAX could’ve been advertised better. I mean they own so many iconic cartoon characters, and they didn’t do a short crossover showing all their properties. They own Rick & Morty & Looney Tunes, and didn’t have Rick & Bugs traveling through different properties together
I agree it would've been cool to see them kinda do crossover commercials but I personally disagree I thought the HBO Max commercials did a great job showcasing the variety on their service although it would've been been nice to see them at least throw in more obscure shows as well like Class Of 3000 or something if it's even on there but compared to Disney+ which only focused on Pixar, Marvel & Star Wars HBO Max advertisements shows off more in my opinion.
I feel HBO Max didn’t have to worry too much about advertising. Not just because of the HBO name, but the majority of people already subscribed to HBO get HBO Max free. The launch day stuff wouldn’t have been anything to make me go to it day 1, but since I got it through my cable, I used it day 1. Additionally, another benefit it has is it’s picking up a lot of smaller shows with strong followings that were on smaller/niche networks/services. The two that instantly come to mind are Search Party and Doom Patrol. Search Party was a pain in the ass to recommend because TBS would only have it available for streaming a month or so every year. Not to mention, I know I was dying for a new season after waiting 3 years, so you bet your ass I knew it was coming to HBO Max and was ready to watch it. Doom Patrol was the most praised show on DC’s streaming service, but no one was using that. Similarly, there were a lot of people wanting to watch it, and many waiting for a new season, so they knew it was there. Lastly, you have to keep in mind, one of HBO’s biggest strengths is word of mouth. Look at Watchmen this past year. It did not have a large audience at the start, but it had huge numbers by the end due to word of mouth. Quality speaks for itself, and I don’t think HBO Max had to worry too much about advertising.

The most gangster comedy news show in existence! in fact, so gangster that it can make fun of their boss (HBO) and their boss' boss (AT&T) and still exist. My favorite bit was the one where he had a squirrel present a check to a litigious coal magnate for "three acorns and eighteen cents" written out to "Eat Shit Bob" with "Kiss my ass" written in the memo. Then the show was sued and won. HBO paid a shit ton of money for this stunt...and he still has a job. I hope they never turn HBO into shit like most other networks have done.
I was lucky enough to get to watch HBO when cable first came out in my area of Maine. My father saw workers near the main road and asked what they were doing. They explained they were putting in cables for ...well... cable and included HBO and MTV. Because our house was so close to the road they connected it to the house and at the time it only cost a few dollars a month because they wanted people to try it. I remember my parents watching Alien on HBO and I watched it hiding because I was waaay too young and had nightmares for weeks. I have fond memories of the HBO miniature town with the camera flying through it and the MTV logo with the astronaut.

I love how you talked about the TV antenna as though it's this obscure, ancient technology requiring explanation. I had one in my back yard when I was a kid, and I'm not even 40 yet! Just goes to show how fast technology has moved.
Before HBO was known for their original content they were well known for their documentaries. To this day I think HBO has some of the best documentaries ever made.
I’ve been fresh out of the boat since 1995 and I got to say I had my exposure of HBO in 1997 and I got to tell ya I didn’t know English but I knew their programming didn’t disappoint. Their fresh movies on Saturday nights. Their straight to video movies, along with their tv shows just amazing all around. It is true any show on HBO is guaranteed good quality.
Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed you didn't go into more detail about the original programming and how that style of TV show altered the drama landscape. I just finished watching Oz while quarantined and something about being confined to an apartment for months with my own schedule (cook, eat, shower, exercise, etc...) made me relate to those characters/story alot more than if I were working and socialising regularly. Since finishing Oz I've been searching for reviews and analysis of the show, however, I have yet to find any on UA-cam and was hoping it would at least get a mention in this video and the impact it had on television.
Oz is the originator but flawed and sometimes over the top. Oz took the risks so that the wire and the sopranos could learn from its mistakes and correct them. I got nothing but love for Oz though. Flaws and all.
When I was a kid, we didn’t have cable for the majority of my childhood. When we finally did, we never got the expensive packages that would have included HBO. All I ever heard of it was my parents saying that it was bad because the content they play usually has a lot of bad stuff in it. Lol! Now I freaking love HBO Max! We got HBO Now to watch Game of Thrones and switched over to Max once that came out. The HBO original content is the best original content I’ve ever seen. The quality in shows like Westworld, Game of Thrones, Succession, Watchmen, the list goes on, is absolutely staggering. There arent hardly any other shows that can parallel HBO shows when it comes to quality. It’s like watching a movie, but it’s a show with lots of episodes! Not to mention all of the actually great and decently new movies they give you access to. Definitely the highest value of any streaming service I pay for

I am very much a millenial (born in 1990) but i have never seen any HBO show that i know of prior to 2010.
If you would have asked me what HBO was in the 90's i would not have had a clue. But then only programs bought in licensing for Dutch tv would have been shown in the Netherlands.
@@sirBrouwer totally understandable
Sorry boomer, but I don’t remember asking.😜
Chicken tail Who is the boomer you’re referring to?
Gen z kids won't know because we were all born between 1996 and 2012. Gen X would probably recognize it though
The old Time Warner created and invested in some of the other great cable channels. Like A&E, MTV, Nickelodeon and more.
A&E is owned my A+E networks,
& MTV & Nick are owned by Viacom...
@@PickleRicksFATASSCOUSIN Nick and MTV was created by TimeWarner before it got sold to Viacom.
@@ronielalado3868 damn, Imagine CN & Nick being owned together...
@@PickleRicksFATASSCOUSIN Honestly, if Nickelodeon was retained by Warner Media on the 80s, CN likely doesn't exist as we'd think of it. Then again, that might have inspired Viacom to straight up make their own kids network...

My favorite HBO show Is last week tonight.
Yup.
Keep in mind, AT&T currently owns HBO.
Business Daddy
John Oliver reminds us weekly on his show LOL.
not for much longer
@@onewisefrog5785 what do you mean?
@@ICE-wx5sy at&T is spinning it off and combining with discovery
As someone who lives 15 minutes away from NY the name Dolan makes my ears bleed.
Can you do a video on Dairy Queen im just curious
i'd like dairy queen and HEB, love my Texas companies
@@benjaminwatt2436
You do need a Dairy Queen video. ua-cam.com/video/HiQP5htOcPc/v-deo.html I thought Dairy Queen is a Texas company too, but I also assumed Whataburger is a Florida company. The story of Dairy Queen in Texas is remarkably interesting though.
H-E-B is a most excellent choice too.
I actually learned quite a bit I had not heard before. Good work!
I don't even know why I just like watching company man it's entertaining for me
wow thats crazy
I saw this title and immediately thought, “maybe I will finally understand the difference between HBOMAX, HBOGO and HBO NOW...”
I'd have to say Fraggle Rock is my favorite HBO show. I really like the movies they produce too, like the one about Temple Grandin and Grey Gardens.
LOVED Fraggle Rock!!
Just rewatched the wire and I have to say that is a well made show. I'm very excited for the sopranos movie this fall
You need to make a video on Einstein Bagel Bros's rise, fall, and rise again!
You love Curb, making me love you and this channel more and more!
"Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific" are my favorite HBO Original series.
HBO MAX the only streaming service you will not search through a million times but will be Actually be watching a movie or tv show on the service.
HBO , HBO EVERYWHERE!!!!

The Wire. Enough said.
Best tv show of all time.

Att owns warner.. slightly expecting a “rise .. and fall” video on HBO coming in a few years.
And likely a rise and fall of DirecTV here in a couple of months - that place is imploding (and should be after ATT bought them it's gone way down hill).
att is also now selling warner

pirating hbo!? HOW!?
Back in the day, I used to put a mod chip in our cable boxes to get free HBO/Showtime/whatever (it unscrambled the signal). That is until my cable company figured out I was doing it and charged me like $800 for modifying their hardware.
I grew up watching "Inside the NFL" back when it was on HBO, with Len Dawson and Nick Buonicotti (and later, Chris Collinsworth) hosting, and Harry Kalas narrating all the weekly highlights.
Harry Kalas. A true legend !
I remember his first year with the Phillies. It was 1971 and the year Veterans Stadium opened.
Love the inclusion of HA! in this video. Much like HBO, the Comedy Channel had a better line up, but that HA! logo was awesome.
Thanks for doing my idea on companymanideas.com. You really nailed it again.
You know what's weird, man. My brain played the sound when I saw the HBO logo.
My favorite is still Tales From the Crypt! The Crypt Keeper? Hello! 😁👍
Do Target, how it grew so big and their success
NO
I
HATE
TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't forget to include their Canadian Adventure where they underestimated the customer, spent a ton of money, and then ran away stiffing the creditors
I love how you talked about the TV antenna as though it's this obscure, ancient technology requiring explanation. I had one in my back yard when I was a kid, and I'm not even 40 yet! Just goes to show how fast technology has moved.
I grew up with Showtime, so in some ways I came to view HBO as for the "rich kids".
Before HBO was known for their original content they were well known for their documentaries. To this day I think HBO has some of the best documentaries ever made.
HBO legit has like 5 contenders for best TV show of all time.
I really enjoy this channel. Thanks!
I'd LOVE to see one of these on Nintendo
I’ve been fresh out of the boat since 1995 and I got to say I had my exposure of HBO in 1997 and I got to tell ya I didn’t know English but I knew their programming didn’t disappoint. Their fresh movies on Saturday nights. Their straight to video movies, along with their tv shows just amazing all around. It is true any show on HBO is guaranteed good quality.
Could you make a video on State Farm or BOSE - it'd be really interesting!
Keep up the good work.
"Atari - What Happened?" I need it.
Yes, please. I lived through the Great Video Game Crash of 1983, there's definitely a story there that needs to be told.
I just love how he talks
And now: "The Home Box Office," on Modern Marvels!
I love the backround music
HBO is that one kid with the most accounts

@Max Tech Studios: I think that company is a bit too new to be called successful. You hate to look over a span of years, see what worked for them, and if it's sustainable.
