This layout had really motivated me, when i get a new home i will plan a layout similar to this. Its well-built and has a lot of space. Awesome job so far.
Nice recap, it's going great! Can you install a regular drop ceiling or put 1x4 runners on the bottom of the floor (ceiling), beams, and slip in wall board for the ceiling. Without upsetting ordinances? You're going to want to do something for the falling dust factor.
That's all still a lot of effort and money for little gain that I'd rather put into the layout :) I've done drop ceiling before and it's not a quick job. Dust always seems overemphasized to me - I'm going to create way more dust from cutting and sanding than anything else! The upper deck is covered by the lighting deck, too, so it's really not that big of a factor. Iain
A big advantage of N scale is that benchwork, return loops, substructures, ect are so much quicker and cheaper to build. I suspect that you will be completing your helix(S) and laying trackage at much faster rate than you are currently thinking. I decided to go N scale a few years ago and sometimes I second guess that decision but your videos help me refocus on some of the advantages of a smaller scale has to offer. Your videos are impactful to myself and I'm sure to many others. Take Care! Mario
Yes, now that the bulk of the benchwork is done, I'm hoping things move quickly. I still sometimes question N scale, too, but there's so much you can do with the smaller scale. There's so many manufacturers now making quality products, it's not like we're missing out. All the best with your modeling. Iain
Sorry, I don't understand the comment. As in the town of Index? It'll be there more as a scenic area on the center peninsula end cap, but not a major industry or branch. Iain
Yes, I know the area, I'm still missing the comment though. The end of the center peninsula will be the loop at Index where it passes over highway 2, but again, I won't model it then looping back through the town or show any industries around here. That just chews up too much space for no real purpose. I'm much more interested in using layout space to model Skykomish and Gold Bar on either side. Iain
Been with you from beginning, keep it up. I get a lot more ideas from you than you could ever get from me. Hope your arm keeps getting better.
Thank you. Glad I can help with ideas to maybe kick start some modeling for you! Iain
The layout is looking good. Been loving the updates as you progress.
Thanks, it's definitely all coming together! Iain

Thank you. Dream big! Use as much space as you can, just remember you'll still have to make some compromises ;) Have fun. Iain

I can't believe you left the Index Loop off one of those end loops.

@@gncascadedivision Between Gold Bar and Skykomish is the town of Index and the rail line makes a loop there along the line.
