So apparently an ex-employee that worked on the garden warfare games said Garden Warfare 2 had it’s updates stopped early to make a new game so they could add (and I kid you not) new ways to monetise the series. EA CANCELLED A LOVED AND ENJOYED GAME SO THEY COULD ADD MORE WAYS TO MAKE MONEY. But personally, I think there a few upsides to BFN, like the map designs, cosmetics, turf take over minigames, the upgrades system, and my favourite, the variety of UNIQUE characters. Not variants, I liked the unique characters that would come out around every 3 months, instead of having a reskin of a character that has a status effect that you had to wait months for.

Humans easily abandon good things because it's not what they're used to, or they just can't envision what it's like. I personally dislike the addition of variants. On paper it seems great, but a lot of times it either has lead to only ever using one character and becoming obsessed with it, or only having a hollow sense of joy as you repeat the same steps over and over again with one slight change. You can never judge somethings quality based on the reactions of the masses, because most people aren't that rational. Finally variants did exactly what the extra characters did in bfn, there were just more of them. I understand enjoying the simplicity of exploring a premade experience, but the simple fact that you could do it longer it gw doesn't necessarily make it better. I had one friend who played all the way through gw2, every single character mastered. All the same, they got bored and left. It's a finite gameplay loop, and I would argue more so than being able to make your own using smaller components.

But variants alone aren't as good as they're hyped up to be. Like not having 400-800 hours of content automatically makes it a bad game. I get that the extra mileage is good, but just having effectively a different set of guns for each character isn't the whole of what made the game successful.
I like playing BFN to take a break from GW2, the new characters are pretty fun but i like sniping, also the environment is far more better than GW2, its just the character designs. The designs look cute especially footsoldier but GW2 had the better designs that were cute themselves.
I don’t like how they removed character variants which made the game unique and fun to me. And the removal of sticker packs with a battle pass type of system was not the way to go. There are many more things that I didn’t really like but I miss the GW series maybe hopefully we can get the GW3 we wanted someday…
Yeah, it’s possible. If some once popular franchise can get revived out of nowhere after 20 years of dormancy, I’m sure the PvZ shooters can too. I would’ve liked if we got the whole idea of getting more classes over time while also getting variants for them. It would be really cool to have the good stuff from BFN mixed with GW2, I would’ve preferred a GW3 like that instead of this.
nah bfn is good, its quite a different game from gw2, but i still like it, i think its main issues are lack of character variants and the fact that EA just stopped updating it after a year. lack of updates is what killed the gw franchise.
Yeah, if GW2 got a bit more love put into it I bet we could’ve seen a lot more content. Even then, GW2 is good at just having so many things to do that it’s still able to hold a fanbase. BFN just can’t do that especially when it departs so far from the original two games, along with that, there’s no variety or reason for the players to really stay once the game loses support.

It did decently better in story mode and PvE regions, but everything else didn’t work.

Never played the game before but I honestly think that the game is pretty good. Sure, Citron looks like he messed up in the future but other than him everything else is pretty good. The run mechanic really makes more characters balanced so Cactus can run and shoot instead of snipe and die
Why is my guy icky over every single little detail. From the different art style, the sound effects, the character design changes, the loading screen pop up, the main menu pop up, the ui elements, etc. i really actually like the art style
Personally, I’m fine with the graphics but the issue is that they changed way too much outside of that. The graphics would’ve been fine had variants still been a thing, had they put more effort into the cutscenes (they look so rushed and lazy, even more so than GW2), and improved the ops mode. The whole reason this game really died was because of how different it was, it was too different to where it didn’t appeal to any of the old fans, while basically not doing enough to keep new fans playing it besides constant updates (which slowed down fast after a while). I think all of us would’ve loved it if they added the good stuff from BFN (more unique character classes, good boss fights and a better story mode (instead of just fetch quests). It’s pretty sad it cut support that early, as I’m sure they would’ve really improved a lot of it over time as seen in the game files (Ops phase 3, new characters, etc.), it would be like if GW2 was stuck in 2016, it would suck since there would be no Zombopolis, torchwood or hover goat or town hall, it would be so incomplete. It would still be a good game, but miss a lot of the extra content that it got in later stages, I do really wish it got even more content though.
@@aliceglasslover missions were nice and I liked that there were actual unique bosses in each area rather than fighting ones from boss hunts or the ops mode, it felt more impactful and fun to fight than a generic boss. I’m sure with more time they could’ve improved on the game, since like you said, not many new things were added.

This game is bad but for basically none of the reasons in your video. The artsyle is a downgrade, but the whole ‘this feels like a mobile game’ feels like your just stretching, but I’d say what you said about the game trying to be satisfying but actually being the opposite is true. And yeah they butchered Ops, but you didn’t even mention that the dracula zombie doesn’t even spawn in vampires, difficulty is always locked to normal (no hard or crazy), and there is no espcape at the end.

I like peashooters more toonish design with Chickpea skin, though I’m not sure going for just customizations instead of variants is worth it. Here its just everyone plays the same but has a different costume

Never played the game before but I honestly think that the game is pretty good. Sure, Citron looks like he messed up in the future but other than him everything else is pretty good. The run mechanic really makes more characters balanced so Cactus can run and shoot instead of snipe and die
(PS, I just borderline dislike how citron looks, his abilities are amazing)
Why is my guy icky over every single little detail. From the different art style, the sound effects, the character design changes, the loading screen pop up, the main menu pop up, the ui elements, etc. i really actually like the art style

Personally, I’m fine with the graphics but the issue is that they changed way too much outside of that. The graphics would’ve been fine had variants still been a thing, had they put more effort into the cutscenes (they look so rushed and lazy, even more so than GW2), and improved the ops mode. The whole reason this game really died was because of how different it was, it was too different to where it didn’t appeal to any of the old fans, while basically not doing enough to keep new fans playing it besides constant updates (which slowed down fast after a while). I think all of us would’ve loved it if they added the good stuff from BFN (more unique character classes, good boss fights and a better story mode (instead of just fetch quests). It’s pretty sad it cut support that early, as I’m sure they would’ve really improved a lot of it over time as seen in the game files (Ops phase 3, new characters, etc.), it would be like if GW2 was stuck in 2016, it would suck since there would be no Zombopolis, torchwood or hover goat or town hall, it would be so incomplete. It would still be a good game, but miss a lot of the extra content that it got in later stages, I do really wish it got even more content though.
the missions werent that long and they were kidna like quests your right theres some new stuff but nothing crazy
@@aliceglasslover missions were nice and I liked that there were actual unique bosses in each area rather than fighting ones from boss hunts or the ops mode, it felt more impactful and fun to fight than a generic boss. I’m sure with more time they could’ve improved on the game, since like you said, not many new things were added.

Yeah bfn is pretty underwhelming for content it got the studio shut down that created gw1 gw2 and this one unlikely to get another one EA saw how poorly bfn did don't like how they took out variants and a timer for spawnables. I like doing an invasion of spawnable zombies.

CHANDGED SO MUCH!!! all stars head is smaller roses eye doesn’t have her eye makeup anymore and superbrainz has a shield and citron has just ball shoot and no more laser and cactus fly and no tall nut battlement scientists eye diff and here’s 3 gay characters, electric slide oak and space cadet but that’s to me and chomper releases a fart and z mech is diff and flower doesn’t spawn a pot ( i think they were lazy for pot) and literally no giga Gargantuar for bfn and besides NO VARIANTS LIKE for example as a peashooter u can’t be a fire or ice or NONE and this is why I bought pvz gw2 on a ps5 and I was in good luck because it was a offer to June 6 that pvz gw2 was 6 dollars and I got to buy it on may 24th
I actually enjoy this game 😂 the last PVZ I played was Garden Warfare and my god have the graphics come so far. In terms of content, Garden Warfare wins, but in terms of gameplay, I think Battle for Neighborville is better.
There so many QoL features that make BfN gameplay feel generally better in my opinion.

This game is bad but for basically none of the reasons in your video. The artsyle is a downgrade, but the whole ‘this feels like a mobile game’ feels like your just stretching, but I’d say what you said about the game trying to be satisfying but actually being the opposite is true.
And yeah they butchered Ops, but you didn’t even mention that the dracula zombie doesn’t even spawn in vampires, difficulty is always locked to normal (no hard or crazy), and there is no espcape at the end.

I love this game people are literally just salty that's its not just the exact same as GW2
A majority of this video is spent complaining about mechanics and abilities that carried over from the second game, also the design of the game is legit just better both graphically and design wise, taking obvious inspiration from the first 2 and giving it a brighter color palette and giving the characters more character. The other games feel very dated to me and getting into a 7 year old game with 120 slight variations to the original classes isn't appealing whatsoever, this game could have been a lot more if the developers gave af but I still find bfn to be better gameplay wise
