You have to pay the fees along with the fees of your current semester exams , while filling exam form

They is no clarity regrading this from du , they might put the original marks (that you had previously in that subject ) or mark absent in that subject.

For how many subjects I can give an improvement exams?
Any number (subjects you appeared in the previous old/even semester) , suppose you are currently in 5th semester then you can appear for subjects appeared in 3rd sem

They will just consider your second marks despite the fact they are less or more
