  • A tribute to one of the most Legendary Boxing Trainer/Manager Cus D'Amato.. He was a great trainer, a great manager but above all he was a far greater person. His connection with his fighters were much more personal than professional. He was a schoolar of Boxing, obsessed with the psychology of fighting & fear..

D'Amato is the greatest trainer of all time because he had exact answers, tactics and conditioning methods to over come the most effective weapon in boxing, the jab from a taller fighter. If you can effectively avoid and counter a fighters jab, it is likely that he will not be able to land any of his other punches.

The rest is history.

That's why floyd patterson and cus ducked sonny liston for the longest time because it was a nightmare matchup stylistically. He shouldve taught his fighters how to box when swarming didnt work.. but i guess height and reach were the reasons why he never did.

I've spent many years trying to experience this click in my mind, where I turn on and take everything I know, then create this awesome life. Today I've realized that it takes a spark to create a roaring blaze. That spark has to be fueled and energized by consistent action, visualization, positive thinking, and the works. That is why I ended up here because I remembered this speech. Then it did not register but today it really has. That roaring blaze doesn't happen overnight if you aren't taking action and fueling your spark with the right fuel.

Thanks again for the nice compilation about a gifted person who had the talent to discover the raw talent for boxing in young kids and stimulate this kids, make them realize and believe in that talent.
I think talent is 40 % and mental strenght is 60%.
He gave everything for the sport and specially for his boxers.

Man just look at those moves. Mike threw 3 perfect uppercuts shadowboxing like hes a lightweight lmao that's freakish coordination and skill that needed even just throwing it at the airthe timing, accuracy, power, blinding speed, and intelligence...he installed a radar like sense in Mike that involved being very calm so u can detect punches and their angles they're coming from..cause boxers are taught WHERE U ARE GOING TO BE, not where u are at the moment. Cus D'amato, manufacturer of world champions.

jesus christ, a true man guiding young men. we need more of this today so many single moms trying to raise men but fall short, we should start some kind of shelter where young men with no role models come and sit and talk with legends and extrodinary people, all of us have that spark!

The story of Mike Tyson is the greatest story ever told
Here you have a troubled young African American kid destined for a life of crime from one of the worst neighbourhoods in America , with basically nobody that cares about him until one day he meets a old white man who sees something in him that nobody saw , takes this African American kid in , and makes him believe in himself that he can change the course of his life
He makes him believe that he can be the world heavyweight champion
He takes him in as a son teaches him hard work and discipline
And slowly but surely what only the old man saw the world began to see
And this kid became the youngest ever world heavyweight champion
Although the old man wasn't alive to see his boy fur fill the that dream
He sure as hell was his guardian angel and made sure he became what he was destined to become
    RIP CUS DAMATO
This story transcends all made up lines of race culture and status and shows that when we strip all these things away that we as humans are all the same and when someone believes in us , and loves us unconditionally that even the most doomed humans can become special
Mike Tysons life is a treasure full of lessons all people can learn from
If CUS was alive for 5 more years there would be no dispute who the greatest fighter that ever lived was

if he would've somehow kept ticking and had a prolonged life as a trainer, no doubt kid dynamite/iron mike would've went into the ring undefeated against holyfield. Im willing to bet it would've added longevity to Mike Tyson's career. Hopkins said there are alot of trainers today but very few teachers, d'mato was a teacher. Teachers care about their students unlike trainers like panama lewis (mixed bottle with amphetamines), ray arcel( who had roberto duran lose weight dangerously fast with hormone injections to prepare for the second bout with leonard), or lou duva who watched meldrick taylor get punched till he had brain damage, partial memory loss, facial fracture, slurred speech, and was urinating blood.

    • @idm4christ
      @idm4christ 9 років тому

JC Denton arcel was a great trainer but I still hold him at fault because roach got rid of Ariza when he saw him giving Manny mysterious mixed drinks. So in fact a trainer would've known and arcel has no excuse because he was willing to quit on Duran and not willing to speak up for his fighter!
