Im now 50 yrs old and Im reliving my Front 242 days again because of video technology. Keep rockin it steady, Jesus will be here very soon. Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Something about watching 242 live, seeing those dudes dancing at 50+ is amazing. They always bring the coolest euro dance energy. I could be having the worst day of my life, but you turn this on and can't help but feel alive. It's always like watching the 'dancing guy' from Always Sunny in Philadelphia. You can't help but love it, and somehow, you get it and don't at the same time. I love it.
O my God! I'm 54 now. The first time I went to see a 242 fronts concert, I was 17 years old. I am still a big fan of this group. Cheers 242
Wow! You must have been one of their earliest fans back then..
@@csvkadis1646 Yep, I became a fan of 242, I was 15 years old. And yes, it was at the beginning. Rhooooo, time goes too fast. it reminds me a lot of memories.
Same here....
51 here and a fan since first hearing Funkadaphi and the complete Politics Of Pressure 12". Still love 242 and saw them live again about a month ago. Loved it! ;-)
I'm 54 also and I'm still loving these guys. Used to turn my work after hours into a dance club I worked for Spencer Gifts we had a disco ball surround sound flashing strobes everything except for dry ice fog machine
The fathers of EBM
DAF certainly have a claim to that too.
AND Liaisons Dangereuses!
International EBM day today. The only concert you need to watch.
Happy 242 day everyone!
Damn it's 2019, I am 47 and I can still remember my first 242 moment on a dancefloor when I was just 16. EBM Legends!
I'm 37, feel the same!
I was always in the roof like the exorcist of exitment when i got the records omg
Geography -> Evil Off.
i was 19 and directly moved from italian pop music to EBM leaving a piece of my brain in the movement...
I am 45
First 242 concert for me was 1991 Tyranny For You Tour. I was 14, maybe weighed 125lbs soaking wet, but went right into that pit
I miss the magic of the 80's. Richard 23 on Simmons drums, Emulator II, parachutes, ...
FRONT 242 ... That is all anyone needs to know. The 80's had it all. Punk, EBM, Metal.
242 for ever

Forever
In 30+ years listening to these guys, I have never gotten tired of their music.
Same here, since 1989 if not sooner. They were riding on the heels of Cabaret Voltaire, Throbbing Gristle, and Kraftwerk (obviously), but they were pretty original for what they were doing.
bought my first 7" in 1981, Principle/Body To Body on (I think) New Dance, from Red Rhino Records in York, loved them ever since! only Gary Numan and Dirk Ivens are higher!
@@jasonegeland1446 I seem remember either NME, or MM, discounting them as a bunch of Belgian white boys trying to play funk music! must have been Politics of Pressure time, A*holes! I do think though that they were doing stuff a bit different to the Cabs, TG and the Boys from Dusseldorf, I think if anything, closest band around that time to them in the UK was probably Portion Control! people forget how long 242 had been going before they became "known". same goes for the genius that is Dirk Ivens! but that's another story : )
But what do I know?
Still the best nobody is able to reach Front 242 after all this years :) pure power !
Redrum Hobsig I think Nitzer Ebb is a close brother :-)
@@Daniel-jm8ln and Spetsnaz is the actual Ntzer Ebb
I love when electronic musicians PLAY LIVE WITH INSTRUMENTS
That's how it should be!!!
300 %
synthesizer is instrument and is a very complex one
@@fromorf6388 Sure thing! I play the piano / synths
There are things that a human couldn't simply play for 5-6 minits, like the basslines of Take One, Funkhadafi, and so on. And I've tried, believe me.
It must be sequenced. That's what Front 242 is made of: a mix of both. I thank them for that
I am 47 and I was there on M'era Luna. I stood on the right side with my friends directly in Front of the Boxes during that gig and wished to have earplugs plugged in ^^. That was the loudest concert in my lifetime!
Best Belgian Band Ever!!
Some middle age men buys an expensive bike, other work out by still being ebm-legends.
Over 60 is still middle aged?
I do hope JL DeMeyer lives til he's 120
Headhunter was my gateway EBM track. Hooked after the first listen in that dark dingy strobe filled nightclub.
It has been an honor to have seen this band live in Los Angeles during Tyranny For You. They were three hours late, but many fans stuck it out and it was entirely worth it.
I saw these guys in '90 or '91 at a club in Hollywood. The intensity was beyond belief. Memory has never faded
The Hollywood Palace. I was there also. Life changing gig!
I have seen Front 242 in four different countries and all the concerts have been incredible! And next year they are returning to Norway again!!! It is in May but I am thinking about it every day allready!
I Remember my first Front 242 concert in 1991, in Dallas TX. Will never forget.
Great performance especially on Commando and In Rhythmus Bleiben.
Hi , from Belgium , 31 years later " tirany for you " . The 90s was amazing for all électro style music . Allways on top :)
I remember two another bands like that : skinny puppy and nietzer ebb . Enjoy :)
What is it about these guys that they can energize me at any time....the weirder the world the more 242!
I first saw them at the Astoria London in 1989 , it was so ahead of its time the concert I will forever remember them coming on stage with laser swords I mean I was 19 then and into DM Cure Joy Division ... So it was a bit more heavier than what I was use to .. I still listen to some of there songs from time to time especially at the gym best soundtrack to move on
I just saw them for the first time in Tampa and it was mindblowing!!!
One of the best of their kind. I remember listening to their music back in the early 90s but they are still amazing. Thanks for doing what you have been doing all these years
Saw these guys 25+ years ago. Loved them then, love them now!
Real Belgium (that of consensus without the pressure of yesteryear) the one which still knows that nothing stops a people who dance!!!!
I. can't. believe. it. 2018?
Codenys is a genius. He should be scoring all sci-fi movies.
They don't smoke, don't do drugs... But have an excellent diet on good belgian beers ;-)
always nice to see so many 242 fans
Saw them in 93 and fell hard! I still love them but wish they'd hit the states more often! BTW 242 is my lucky number partly because of this band! Front 242 should perform at night only, though they can still pull it off in the day! Love this! Thanks for the video!!!
Yeah Lollapalooza it was WEIRD to see them playing with a beautiful bright sunset in the background!
Saw them in 93 playing belgian festival called Pukkelpop. Sucha rush! Big kick that set! Didn't get it back then but didn't take long!! Brilliant influential EBM act.. still relevant after 35+ years! 😃👍
@@markmower6507 Saw them outside on a hot sunny day, Providence RI, 1993. They played on the runway of old air force base, they were incredible and so was the crowd of 60,000 plus. It was intense, the crowd was jammed in shoulder to shoulder, forced to breath in the dust, locked in, moved with the people. I recall "Flag," people were in a trance, literally flipping doing ariels gymnastics when the track took off, remember seeing a shoes flying, crazy time, intense day. Recall this big dude started a "centerpede" thru the crowd, he crotched down arms bent in front, fists clenched, he proceeded move his arms up and down, casually party-pommeling his way through the crowd with others in tow, all while grooving to Front 242, it was hilarious and awesome! We all loved it!
@@SurfingTubes Old Air force Base, you say, did they play My Favorite Song, Circling Overland?! Hahahahahahahaha 😎!!!

I never tire of this! Was hoping "Animal" or "Rhythm of Time" would be in this set, oh well. Enjoyed just the same.
I would have enjoyed Soul Manager.
K7 of Front 242 sa pulse années 1980... Old Chaps Electro Punk border ligne... Exelent Electronic Music job...
First track is immense ,fantastic stuff ,hats off to FRONT 242,best wishes SHOCKBLAST
Increíble!!!!40 años haciendo lo perfecto
5/8/24 will be their last live concert @ Lokerse Feesten ( Lokeren, Belgium) , me present ofcourse . First time live seen in '94 , now 30 years later it ends :) ... and for the fans : The Sisters Of Mercy will be also playing that day :p double whammy :D
I saw them at Palooza back in the day and I remember refusing to move. I was front row against the barracade and it was the best shit ever. I never got to see them again, but even seeing them once was a dream come true.
16:55 we don’t get to see Jean Luc by himself very often and he takes up more space and moves much more than he does when Richard is singing too.
Oct 10, 1990 Tyranny tour in Toronto. Still resonating in my soul 28 years to pretty much the day.
Front 242 forever
I love them!
Woooowwww I can only dream of. Being there, what an AMAZING experience!! #F242
Woooooooooooow what? FRONT242 this is Incredible. It sucks I wasn’t there, But great quality and thank you soooo much for sharing
Yo, Take One is over 30 years...and it hits just as hard now as it did then. Cheers
When I first heard Front to Front in the 90’s it was the first time I heard anything like them. Then came Ministry, Skinny Puppy, and NiN.
And Nitzer Ebb
And I love them all.
@ChillLetsPlays That's okay. It is how you feel it. And it's always the same, the fanbase is actually more childish than the actual musicians, who respect themselves, as Gary Numan respects NIN and also Skinny. I mean, yeah, you're the true one here, like in metal, you'd be the tr00 metaler on the forum. But as much as I enjoy this show, it has nothing to do to compete to any NIN show, for me. MY TASTES, not objective facts. So hate me, make it a Pretty Hate Machine. And sleep well, non-poser. Lol. EDIT: You didn't know Reznor broke his deal with Interscope because he thought they were selling his albums too expensive when compared to albums the same lenght from the same label? And they told him those were the prices because the fans were up to pay them- and he didn't accept that as an answer. Isn't that going against the industry and actually thinking about your fanbase? Why do people rant and complain without searching? Damn. Meanwhile, all of those bands act mature and respect each other. Instead of enjoying what we like and admiting the talent all of them have, we spread hate towards what we dislike. Mature af.
Iain Bryden Skinny Puppy were ace.
I heard Body TO Body on the This Is EBM sampler first... along with SP. I had a friend who was a metal fan like myself. But I also liked stuff like DeMo, Camouflage, Sisters etc. He lend me the sampler with the comment: Sounds like darker version of Depeche. It was quite a revelation, a bit later discovered FLA and some German early bands which mixed guitar punk/goth with electro (The Fair Sex, Invincible Spirit, Pr.Pitchfork etc.)
Been listening to them since the 80's. I'm 51 and saw them in Detroit (Latin Quarter) over 30 years ago for the first time.
Tk's to post

saw them in 88, Official Version in NYC....sick show for those who remember NYC in the 80s
Used to live in Chicago area and saw them many times in the 80s and 90s. Cool to see Richard 23 has the Chicago flag tattooed on his arm.
I have been a fan for over two decades and must admit, I have only seen them once in San Diego...( Life tends to get in the way at times ) I will say that I have seen " Catch the man " video and didn't care too much for it...seemed they butchered a lot of their songs...but this video is excellent...242 tries to stay true to the origins...wish I could have been there. " Moldavia " was my favorite.
Stand up....Stand up...Stand up you electronic insect...stand up you electronic force !
F**KING LOVE IT !!!
Still the front of heden music today, without them in the 80 'tiees , there was no expansion. thx front 242 THIS IS BELGUM
Vu en 1987 à l'AB... la claque !!!! Respect total. Mon top Front - Take one / Body to body / W.Y.H.I.W.Y.G.
2 4 2 FRONT, FRONT 2 4 2, Brussels electrobody music (Belgium). BODY TO BODY
I love these guys back in the 80s up to now and a great workout music
Lol currently at gym lol
I am working out, with some crunch n munch, Hahahahaha!
@@juliehealingleaf6211 i've been never at a gym.... THIS IS about MUSIC ...
Any band is lucky to have a good frontman, but 242 surpasses that by having 2 of the best in the business.
So distinct from each other but they each exemplify the two sides of the 242 coin.
Coming to Portland this weekend!
THEY'RE ALWAYS GOING TO BE MOTHERFUCKING INCREDIBLE!!!! THEY'RE PURE POWER WILL!!!! THEY'RE PURE LIFE!!!!
These guys earn my respect
I miss Richard's Mohawk. This live version of Quite Unusual is probably the best I've ever heard.
Top group made in Belgium !
Saw 242 at the Metro in Chicago in 1990. Great band best enjoyed in a darkened club, not outdoors in an arena.
Saw same tour in Detroit, Loudest show I was ever at.
My introduction to F-242 was outside on a hot sunny day, Providence RI, 1993. They played on the runway of old air force base, they were incredible and so was the crowd of 60,000 plus.
I agree, I have seen them both outdoor on festivals and in clubs. The dirty small club in Oslo called SO What was by far the best!
I was there too!!
This should have happened at night for increased effect. Still a good concert… Listening since 1987.
front 242 i need to stand up now...we need to make music all over the world
Pure Énergy. Go ahead
When you lock the target.....
i was there. Lovvveeee it!

They still fucking have it! The power, the sound, the energy, the multi-layered soundscape!
I bought a 242 cassette at the end of the 80s. I was about 11 or 12.
I Loved this Tape.
242 was a Part of my Youth!
14:19 the crowd finally started warming up.
I don't like how the beat is so in front of the mix, they have such amazing sound design that needed to be cranked.
Nice, super and good sound live
Brilliant! EBM full force!!!!!!!
The creators of EBM!
Thanks
I am old, I saw them live 87' in atl Ga, And they are still kickn it! !!
What was the name of the venue?
I also saw them in Atlanta, GA, in 1997ish I think, +/- a year. I saw them at the Roxy I believe, they played with Project Pitchfork.
It's a shame that it was not at night. They always have a brilliant light show, too.
I'd be dancing all over the place!!!
Las mejores......front....242......!!!!!!!
I’ve watched this concert multiple times. How the hell was the crowd not moving the entire time? Especially with that that opener?
Saw them in a small club in Gothenburg in -85. Good to see them still doing an energetic show!
