@@pleaseshutup7053 Storm was screwed over by bad Storylines and horrible Stables (Death Crew Council, The Revolution). His feuds with Rhyno, Chris Harris and Bobby Roode were golden.
Bobby Roodes heelturn was what ultimately made me a TNA fan. I was just getting into wrestling over the autumn of 2011 and when he hit Storm with that beer bottle I knew I just witnessed something special. To this day Bobby Roode is in my personal alltime top 5 and likely will stay there until I die
Roode was always that one guy that could go out there on any given night and give you a good match. He wasn’t outstanding at anything in particular but he was always the most reliable and managed to make whatever he was given work. That’s what made him such a big asset to TNA. I appreciate him a lot more now in hindsight because of that. He’s very underrated.
Salute to the It Factor and Glorious one, Bobby Roode. Loved him post his split from Team Canada, to the days in Beer Money Inc, that excellent promo, and of course his time as TNA World Champion. I wish he got a better shake on the WWE main roster, but that NXT run was really good as well. Smart of him to put his long term health before wrestling and he seems to be good as a producer/agent, so he will always have job options. Great video as always!
Roode was one of the guys I was introduced to when I started watching TNA. Back in Lockdown 2007. I liked him, but what sealed it, was Beer Money. Beer Money is damn goated.
Bobby Roode and Team Canada were my first exposure to TNA. I remember being a kid and watching a Canadian Destroyer for the first time. I was blown away. Also, the Roode heel turn against James Storm is one of my favorite moments in wrestling history.
Roode losing his second world title in one day reminds me why this company failed AJ and Joe later on on this era Roode in his main event mode was sensational, making Storm and Aries into better characters and prospects. Respect.
Yeah the managers all chasing after Roode was basically an updated copy of Macho Man's initial WWF storyline. Except Macho was having matches and beating fools decisively (with semi-ridiculous levels of showboating)
The AJ Styles defense in May 2012 was the best of his reign I felt that gave him the longest TNA title reign at the time (although Jarrett’s NWA title reign of 2004-2005 was still longer.) The ladder match with RVD also was pretty good. The match where he lost the title to Aries was also one of the best world title matches in the company’s history.
Beer Money Inc is one of my fav tag teams ever. Just the name alone gets a pop from me and both wrestlers were amazing in the tag and on their own. Makes me sad that Bobby is done with wrestling but he says he's happy with his new job. So I wish him nothing but the best!
I feel like Roode is one of the few wrestlers who somehow made it through all the politicking & BS & booking changes & booker biases & everything to pretty much max out their potential. He wasn't an all-time talent, but he had no real flaws in his game and was more than good enough across the board to accumulate lots of gold and spend a lot of time in & around the main event scene. So three (NXT counts for me) mostly competent but fairly weak/unspectacular world title reigns and many, usually more successful, secondary singles & tag title runs feels just about right for him. In a general sense, he'd still be an easy Hall of Famer, just not quite an inner-circle one. All in all, a damn good career.
This made me happy and sad at the same time. Loved his career in TNA, possibly my favourite home grown TNA wrestler of all time. He did amazing in NXT but its like WWE on the main roster didn't even attempt to make him someone fans cared about. Was like he was just thrown out there, and starting him as a babyface really didn't help play to his strengths.
