    I've watched quite a few of your videos and have enjoyed all of them! I'm currently taking one class at a time at a local college since I work a 55+ hour a week job. I think that the CLEP will help me tremendously. Thank you for your help!

    So Thomas Edison State College is now called Thomas Edison State University, and from the research I’ve done it has the most to offer. Depending on the state and degree Excesior college degrees can have restrictions and may not be accepted at all. Charter Oak is mainly just offers general education degrees with a focus on certain things. So im going to be using Thomas Edison State University and would recommend it out of the three. Of course depending on what people are going for the other two may or may not be viable options.

      call the college's admissions department. They can answer the questions. Certain colleges accept more credits than others.

    Question, how do i get all the courses i will need for the bachelors degree i want to complete before i enroll into a college? i do not want to take a Clep test if i do not have to or need the credit for the particular degree i'm after. also i know i will need to take general study courses as well or maybe that is what CLEP exams are and not courses pertaining to the actual degree courses you will need? sorry new to this and i have a lot of questions. thanks

    • @American-Fairy-Tales
      @American-Fairy-Tales  6 років тому +5

      So ask your school for a list of required courses and how to compare them to which CLEP exams you can use to transfer. Once you have all of the ones you can take, take them. directed at passing certain parts of your degree.
      CLEP is for Gen Ed courses, DSST is for more focused classes on particular subjects.

Would you recommend it in addition to yours? He is 18 years old and seems to have similar ideas as yours to same money on a Bachelor's Degree. Good minds seem to think alike I am told.

      @@Leanne_is_not_okay Find out your degree plan first. Look on your college website and see what courses they expect you to take. I know TESU has a cyber S. program. You can get at least the first 2 years (maybe more) of general credits from CLEP and any other college that is ACE accredited or accepted to TESU that will transfer. I have two sons that transferred all their credits into TESU except for 2 mandatory courses that have to be taken (Lifelong Learning {Orientation} and the Capstone) for a business degree. Business seems to be the easiest one to get all the available credits from other sources.

    Hi, how do we exactly get started? I’m navigating the TESU website and it says tuition is $2900? Does that mean for credit by exam students as well?? And how do we even get into the credit by exam program

    • @willbenra2634
      @willbenra2634 4 роки тому +2

      Pick a degree from TESU, and then try to follow that plan as closely as possible using CLEP/Modernstates (which will pay for CLEP exams if you study using their website). Also, there is a place called Sophia which offers courses very reasonably priced, and Saylor which can be a bear with tons of reading- but has only a fee of $25 to proctor exams through ACE. I would suggest taking several practice exams @ Saylor before attempting the final proctored exam. Then join TESU and pull all your credits from other places together. PS The tuition runs a little higher, but that is not the per credit price. Also, sign up for one of their free speak to a rep. online calls (they have them often). The lady we had was wonderful!! She even gave her phone # and email if he had other questions. Also, you can call TE and speak with people too?? I only found that out after we registered this week. I hope to only have to take the 2 required courses from TESU (Lifelong learning and the Capstone.)

    I have two questions that may be stupid or common knowledge but would be very helpful to me!
    1. Can I take a CLEP test and have it sent to college A. And then transfer colleges and the CLEP be on the Transcript I send to college B? Or have college A send it to college B without paying the $20 fee?
    2. If I get an associates degree using only CLEP from a school will other schools accept the associates degree or only the, credit hours that they would normally accept of CLEP exams?

    • @American-Fairy-Tales
      @American-Fairy-Tales  6 років тому +5

      1. I actually think no... because you have to use transfer credit from the original source... The reason I say this is because I used Straighterline courses and those still had to be transferred. However, ask College B's policies on the topic because they might be available for you anyway. I would just assume that they wouldn't be.
      2. So I know the Big 3 will accept all CLEPs so if you did ultimately get an associates degree those would work. The only issue that arises, is that if you are looking to continue on to your bachelor's I don't think that the associate's degree is transferable. IE, the credits are what is transferable not the degree...
      Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems more as if you are confused about where to do your degree and you are unsure of where to do them. If you are unsure. Do as many CLEPs, DSSTs, etc. as you feel you can and then find a college around them. That might help a bit. Also don't feel like your questions are stupid. CLEP is a very unknown topic, and nobody would ever judge you for not knowing enough details about it! x

    How many exams have you done in a month? The most? I was planning to knock out 2 to 3 in December and it didn't happen. But I am planning to make it up in January 2018.

    • @American-Fairy-Tales
      @American-Fairy-Tales  6 років тому +8

      So, my best month I knocked out 5; However, I took College Algebra, College Mathematics and Precalc on the same day (they are all pretty much the same test). The best way to try and get it done, is to go back and forth between subjects you do and don't like... (so if you like history and hate social sciences, go (U.S history 1, sociology, u.s History 2, psychology) that way you get to vary between subjects and you don't feel stressed! :) I think you can easily get it in January! Have no fear! :)
