That's why there is a engine volume slider in the options menu. Also, I've managed to rip the engine sounds from the original Outrun and tested them in my game with great success. I also tried to rip them from Turbo Outrun, but I can 't seperate the engine sounds from the music. If I eventually manage to do it, and provide similar engine sounds for the Countach and Corvette (maybe the 928 from Chase HQ), I'll add an option so you can switch between them.
In a sim it makes sense. That’s the point of a sim. In arcade racing games that music really drives the racing forward and I don’t want it to get completely lost under the sound effects
Looks quite nice, especially considering it's made by just one guy. It's hard to even come close to the magic of the '80s & '90s super-scaler look though. Looks great, sounds great. But the collision detection looked way off. You kept drifting off the road into the signs and never hit one. I was wondering if there was some sort of cheat code enabled.
Why don't SEGA release their old games, other than OutRun and Sonic? A compilation of superacalers OutRun, Turbo OutRun, Outrunners. A compilation of Model 2 racers, a compilation of Model 2 fighters, Model 3 games, Outrun 2.... the list is so large yet all we get is Sonic and Columns 😂😂
Sega knowing sega won’t do that. They’re obsessed until now with nintendo and mario 64 and evolving into 3d. Good example is sonic. As much as sonic mania's success on reviving old franchises right, they’re still 3d'izing sonic and kept failing or at most having mild successes. Sega is obsessed with sonic going 3d like mario, they’re even bested by temple run. There are too many old franchises sega has neglected and disrespected with "just having 3d graphics" and none if the charm that made its franchise famous.
Hey this is fantastic 🤩 🕹️ How do I get the MAME ROM of this reimagined game, so I can download it to my Buy Stuff Arcades Racing kit droid box that I have installed in my Arcade 1Up Ridge Racer cab. ???? I was thinking maybe If my Droidbox is connected to the wifi, on my computer I would need to connect to it. Find the IP address of the Droidbox and then I would connect to that. Once I have access, I can find the roms folder. Add the rom to the roms folder. But that’s IF this new version of Out Run / Reimagined rom is even available for MAME downloads. Does anyone know who mods Arcade 1Up Cabs and if it’s definitely compatible with Buy Stuff Arcades droid box for the ridge racer / outrun racing kits?
Looks interesting but also inconsistent with art direction of having smooth high resolution screen size and road versus over-pixilated sprites. I must download it and check. UA-cam videos are not most reliable source. There is not that many outrun clones in pseudo 3d scaler done right, actually there is not many at all. Maybe Slipstream is worth checking.
Most of the sprites are the original sprites, but the road is an actual 3d mesh. That's why it looks so sharp. If you don't like this look, I suggest you turn on the low resolution mode.
meh, the road looks cheap, placeholder, does not fit with low pixel art. also scaling is way too smooth. no, this is not good enough. slipstream is still a much much better successor of outrun!!
If you desire, I can make the road look pretty much exactly like Slipstream. The scaling of the roadside objects IS exactly like in Slipstream. If you want, I can add LODs to give you that choppy scaling. Easy stuff. And a game is so much more than just the visuals by the way...
@@Sk1ds87 well, I play outrun regularly on my saturn and turbo outrun on my megadrive and I cannot consider the too smooth scrolling and to high-res assets "retro" :) it looks very different. slipstream has a consistent look acrosss all assets - everything is pixelated. another example is 80s overdrive, which is a higher res art across the board, also looks good. either way, your game is promising, you are correct it is much more than visuals... AND/BUT better visuals will not make your game worse :) (btw you can have gfx options, some people might prefer higher res road, some lower, some love 120fps, some prefer 30fps in superscaler games... slipstream is again a good example, that you can make your game very customizable!) all in all, wish your game huge success!!!

It’s a ton of fun for sure
"Best racing video game ever made in recent memory" - Ever made or in recent memory? Decide!
Recent memory lol. Because OutRun 2 SP exists
This looks great
It’s a metric ton of fun
Looks great, sounds great. But the collision detection looked way off. You kept drifting off the road into the signs and never hit one. I was wondering if there was some sort of cheat code enabled.
That car apparently doesn’t have collision with track side objects yet
This gaming perfection ❤
I have nothing to critique it on
F'N BIRDLAND
😄😆😂🤣

Frank looks cool
He def looks cool
SEGA is the best also thanks to its community!😍
Sega fans are the best fans and community
This is great
It really is
Why don't SEGA release their old games, other than OutRun and Sonic? A compilation of superacalers OutRun, Turbo OutRun, Outrunners. A compilation of Model 2 racers, a compilation of Model 2 fighters, Model 3 games, Outrun 2.... the list is so large yet all we get is Sonic and Columns 😂😂
They release some old stuff but it’s all in Yakuza games. Better than nothing
@VideoGameEsoterica true but I only have a Switch so i'm being demanding! 🤣
Haha that’s fair
Where can I play this
Just google the title. Easy to find :)
Sooooooo smooooooth!
It really is wildly smooth scaling in game
Collision needs some work and would like groups of bikes like sho but otherwise superb
Collision isn’t final yet it seems
Outrunning the past!
More like running into an awesome future lol
This reminds me a lot of slipstream, you should check that out if you haven't
I did a while back. Just didn’t do a video on it. I should do a modern retro racing series
@@VideoGameEsotericaplease do
We shall see
This game is WAY more forgiving than the original. You should have flipped about 10 times.
It’s let up on the difficultly a bit. Which I am fine with
It's still Work In Progress. There doesn't appear to be any collision programmed in for the roadside objects yet.
I’ve wound like to see out runners instead 😊
Another classic for sure
Doesn’t look like it’s 100% Sega. Usually when you go off the road and into bushes or trees you CRASH.
This is still WIP
Hey this is fantastic 🤩 🕹️
How do I get the MAME ROM of this reimagined game, so I can download it to my Buy Stuff Arcades Racing kit droid box that I have installed in my Arcade 1Up Ridge Racer cab.
It’s not MAME. Just google the game. You’ll find it
Looks interesting but also inconsistent with art direction of having smooth high resolution screen size and road versus over-pixilated sprites. I must download it and check. UA-cam videos are not most reliable source. There is not that many outrun clones in pseudo 3d scaler done right, actually there is not many at all. Maybe Slipstream is worth checking.
Not a reliable source?
@@VideoGameEsoterica I mean quality of video and how responsive is control, that is something You need to experience by yourself
Ahh I see
Most of the sprites are the original sprites, but the road is an actual 3d mesh. That's why it looks so sharp. If you don't like this look, I suggest you turn on the low resolution mode.
It’s a clean look imo
I'll stick with Forza Motorsport. LOL.
Haha that’s fair. Totally diff
I dont like minimalist ui.
I do. Gives you information and stays out of the way otherwise. But that’s me
meh, the road looks cheap, placeholder, does not fit with low pixel art.
also scaling is way too smooth. no, this is not good enough.
slipstream is still a much much better successor of outrun!!
Sorry you think that. I disagree
If you desire, I can make the road look pretty much exactly like Slipstream.
The scaling of the roadside objects IS exactly like in Slipstream. If you want, I can add LODs to give you that choppy scaling. Easy stuff.
And a game is so much more than just the visuals by the way...
Eh don’t worry bout the commenters. Keep it up. It’s legit awesome
@@VideoGameEsoterica Haha, I'll do my best. Thank you very much!
AND/BUT better visuals will not make your game worse :)
(btw you can have gfx options, some people might prefer higher res road, some lower, some love 120fps, some prefer 30fps in superscaler games... slipstream is again a good example, that you can make your game very customizable!)
all in all, wish your game huge success!!!
Very nice
It’s def legit
