One thing i’ve always loved about this show is how it depicts the “true” warriors as absolutely apathetic psychopaths, even in the way their eyes are shaded. Even Snake who is fully capable of killing Jomsvikings in 1v1 combat doesn’t even have close to the look of absolute nothingness that exists in a lot of the Jomsvikings eyes. It really puts a lot more weight on Thorfinns redemption arc as he had the exact same level of contempt for human life that the Jomsvikings had but he actually LEARNED from it and became a different person despite it.

Fox also takes pride in his work but when he compared himself to the Jomsvikings, he found himself on the verge of a breakdown because they didn't simply take pride in their work, they found actual JOY in seeing people suffer.

Thorkell in terms of where he lies on a morality spectrum is definitely far worse than Thorfinn but he’s better than the average Joms.

I wouldn't necessarily call them psychopaths, they are just professionals paid to do a job, and they take pride in their work.
