Super Mario Bros. Wonder is an platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the first traditional side-scrolling Super Mario game since New Super Mario Bros. U (2012) and is scheduled to be released on October 20, 2023.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a side-scrolling platform game. As one of eight player characters-Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Nabbit and Yoshi-the player completes levels across the Flower Kingdom with assistance from its talking flower-like denizens. Similar to prior Super Mario games, players guide their character to the end of a level while avoiding enemies (such as Goombas and Piranha Plants) and transporting through Warp Pipes. Each stage contains multiple collectible "Wonder Seeds".
The game supports local multiplayer for up to four players.
Super Mario 64 was highly anticipated by video game journalists and audiences, boosted by advertising campaigns and showings at the 1996 E3 trade show. It received critical acclaim, with reviewers praising its ambition, visuals, level design, and gameplay, though some criticized its virtual camera system. It is the best-selling Nintendo 64 game, with nearly twelve million copies sold by 2015
New power-ups include a fruit that transforms the player into an elephant,a flower that allows the player to create bubbles that capture enemies,
a mushroom that gives the player a drill hat,
and the Wonder Flower, which triggers bizarre effects such as pipes coming to life, hordes of enemies spawning, and character appearances and abilities altering.
A new feature sees players equip badges, which give players different perks, unlocked throughout the game.They are divided in three different types: Action Badges that grant an additional ability to the player character, Boost Badges which give the player character an additional passive ability, and Expert Badges which grant an advanced skill to the player character.
