I don t collect statues, price and space are a problem. and I like different poses, so I went for 6'. with that much statues, you should open a galleria, it s worth it at this point. I d pay $5 entry to see them in person. as is, it s too stuffed to appreciate fully. the toy industry is crashing as the comics did in the 90s for the same reasons, overflow, flooding the market with products. at one point, people have their house filled and can take no more. look at some videos, some guys live in toy stores now. they can t buy much more, it s the bottle neck, it pops! and there are those who leave and sell second market - hand. which floods on the other side, the pie is cooked. good show bro
The prices are spiking and the Edition size is to much. If they spike the price they need to lower the Edition size to make it more rare for the price your paying. Especially with shipping being as high as it is, alot of collectors are backing out of the collecting game because of the high prices. Love your input and glad to see another video ! Completely agree with you on the saturation of statues for sale being way too high. Its leading to the edition sizes being too high on each statue which means they sit in stock for ages - not to mention seeing sales on pieces you paid full price for. You inflate prices like they have over the past two years as well and it is pushing some collectors out of the hobby or at least putting them on the sideline waiting for the 'deals'.
Couldn’t agree more, just saw the Black Friday sales and a lot of statues I had bought a while back, were up on there for 20% off.. the statue companies are heading for a correction.
People who see collections that people have had for well over 5 years don’t realize how cheap premium format, quarter scale and 1/3 used to be compared to now. It was like 100$ capped for shipping for big pieces. Premiums were like 300$ etc…. It’s just not worth certain price points. The cost of some of these statues …. Just invest that money long term, SoFi, your own 401 k is a million times better of an investment. Like you said it’s just more of a wealthy man’s hobby which is fine because there are a million hobbies for the wealthy man and this is just another one. BatSuit Joker and Harley Who Laughs were my last P1 purchases then it’s time to slow down, wait for secondary market, no one can even sell there currently.
I enjoy looking at other people's collection online, but I sold my collection 20 years ago and that's when they were reasonably priced. There is no way on earth I would pay $3,000+ for a single statue. That just seems crazy to me. I only have a handful nowadays, but the itch never goes away.

Yeah, I can see this hobby starting to die. The cost is high, the markets flooded, the secondary market is really bad. I have a lot of statues and I’m out of room and to be honest the only place I’d see the new statues and really get excited was at SDCC. SS didn’t even go last year so there’s nothing on my statue list for 2024. I think in 5-10 years people are just going to print there own.
I think the industry is changing, like you said. More expensive and more options, because it is growing. Shipping needs to be addressed by companies, or that will hurt the industry.
I think companies are misreading the market. There have been several pieces in recent years that have been released that I would have definitely bought day one if they weren't one third scale. It's actually giving my wallet a break because every time I want to pull the trigger the scale size prevents it. 1/3 and larger is just too big and as collectors now years into the hobby we're starting to run out of space. At least I am. I'm at the point now where I would rather dedicate the space to one to three statues instead of just one big one. Large scale statues are great for those who have the space and wallet, but offer a smaller size for those who prefer it and I bet sales go go up.

I've always liked the 1/4 size that's why I never got into busts or 1/3. Now there is more of a reason to not get into them. Yeah, some quarter pieces do reach that 1k price but it beats spending more than 2k for just one bust or statue.
When you get your custom cabinets done can you do a video on them, and give some pricing of how much it cost. Wanna do something similar once me and my wife get our place sorted out
Yeah man of course, it won’t be for a little while yet though. I’m going to try have 4-5m clear opening so it may have to be out of steel frame, I’ll see how it goes. I want it to hold 150kg per sq/m with 5m spans. I’ll need to talk to someone about the implementation, then dress it with cabinetry.
Haha I honestly am slowing up, playing the patience game and waiting for them sales to hit before I buy. ES is high I won’t buy because I know it will go on sale at some point.

Prices are ridiculous now. The Aussie dollar doesn't help either. I was so tempted to purchase something during the Black Friday sales, but I just couldn't justify spending that money this time of the year. There's so many nice looking statues coming up for preorder, but spending over 3K for each one is just becoming too much. I have to be very selective with the statues that I collect. It is easy to become addicted and want to buy everything that looks good.

After so much, it just becomes clutter. At least when garage kits were big, you put your heart and soul into building and paint them. Prepaints made it easy for anybody to own a nice statue. Then 3d printing took away the size limitation of physical sculpting and statues just kept getting bigger and demanding higher prices.
Saw the thumbnail which is impressive in itself. I don't collect statues but I appreciate your collection. I collect Transformers. I never seen statue collection before. My friend does 3D resin printing that he paints the statues. I wonder if that will effect the market?
For the casual collector I think the prices will drive them out of the market. For the serious ones it’s not to big of an issue. It just sucks. Staring at a 1/3 Guts berserk statue as I type this that only cost me $1200. In today’s market it would be double that or more with shipping.
I totally Agree, high prices, high shipping and an over saturated market of new and old pieces trying to sell. You hardly get time to appreciate what you have before they start pushing multiple slightly different variations of the same piece. I still keep it fun and have become very selective and lately have not been paying full price for anything new. If you're patient and can wait until this time of year, there will be deals and big discounts on most pieces that have been released within a year. Any piece that has an ES of 500 or more and is around the 2K mark, will eventually go on sale. Just saved $700.00 on a ⅓ piece that I knew would be discounted if I waited. I love that there are guys like you ant that can collect all these in the volume you can…… the only thing I’d say about your collection is it is starting to look too cluttered…. I hope in your new place they get the space to fully appreciate them all…. Makes a collection look classy. It’s difficult when you’re in to all sorts of stuff
I am starting to think that the old classics will eventually increase in popularity for nostalgia alone. The new statues may look nicer and have more technology. All the ones you own are old classics. I would keep the collection you have and not sell to upgrade to better pieces. The new stuff is a bogus over saturation of the market. Once Prime 1 Studio remade the Poison Ivy grail with lighter skin, I lost all hope for the statute industry. They literally made a statue that went up in value drop half is value. These companies are hurting now in China. People want rare low numbered statues. Don't ever remake them again.
My collection is epic. Your misspelling of the title might need changed. It's probably not "dying" but there is only so many versions you probably need to have of a character or figure. I mean,I have the original releases of the Killer Klowns from Outer Space from the 90s,my kaiju Yamakatsus from the 80s and my Bandais and such and an epic amount of everything of stuff,do I really need to buy the "newer" figures from Target or Spirit? I mena,how many Jet Jaguar figures so I really need? How many Tranzor Zs do I need? I saw a bunch of newer figures at Target a few days ago and then I saw the price and was like "Whoa". Do I "need" that Megalon figure for $25 when I got it in 1992 for $6 from Pony Toy Go Round? Even my VHS/DVD collection is over 45,000. Sometimes you gotta say,when is too much...too much...?
Not just the ridiculous prices for the piece and shipping they keep making statues using the same handful of characters. How many venoms, ironmans, Wolverines, hulks, batmans, supermans, jokers, spidermans do we need?😅😅😅

Does it concern you having over $150K+ worth of statues which could be worth nothing if we're the last wave of collectors interested in buying large statues? At least for these franchises. I have a fraction of what you do and I started collecting assuming I'd eventually sell up except maybe a few I'll die with. Now I am viewing statues as an expense not an asset.
Agree with you, before I could preorder almost any statue I liked knowing I would be able to sell it quickly and sometimes more than retail if it didn't suit my collection. But now for the past year selling a statue at retail is almost impossible. Even with 30% off it doesn't sell the market is just completely saturated ! Especially true for comics and movies franchises, manga statues still resell well at least in Europe.
