Hi. I'm wondering if the Samsung still has the purple tint/raised black notorious for all QD-OLED? I always use my screen in a bright room (natural/light). I'm waivering between the two. Samsung is few hundreds cheaper but LG's black in a bright room is black, not purple, and it has better speakers too. How about text clarity on these two monitors? I'd really appreciate your input
Just got my G8, these coatings are insane, while the QD panel itself is not super black, if you just look at the borders which are under the same coating, they look like those super black nano materials, it's just super ultra black, and indication of very low surface reflections. People need to understand that matte screens that are simply roughed up surfaces, have NOTHING in common with the actual high tech coating on the G8.
Love the enthusiasm but the fact that the monitors have "different fps" tied to them is purely just misinformation. And for that reason I am questioning everything in the video...
I'm not sure how the monitors would affect the performance of the PC in games (apart from having a lower resolution in the 1080p mode), and why that'd be relevant. I'd be more interested in ghosting, response time, etc.
Why its not 480/4K is actually due to HDMI bandwidth. The difference between downscaling a native 4K monitor to 1080p is interpretation issues. It's a much more complex topic
I just got the Samsung for 949$ US at Best Buy. Hands down the best monitor I’ve ever owned. I had a lg 34” oled but I returned and got the Samsung I love if

Thanks for your video, nicely done. I picked up the Samsung a few months ago and really like it. When I looked at all of the monitors available at the time they are all pretty comparable. The LED lighting is meaningless for sure. I decided on the Samsung for three reasons: looks and thinness, QD OLED, price. I was able to pick one up for $949 at Best Buy and because I buy into their Best Buy Total membership, I get a full 2 year warranty on the whole monitor instead of the standard one year. @@thesoundofwind1602 so what does it realistically mean to read in the relative spec sheets a contrast ratio of 1:1000,000 (for Samsung’s) vs 1:1,500,000 (for LG’s)?

@@tamerthebian7286 To be precise even if there would be a difference between different oled panels, it would not change everything between the LG and Samsung because the samsung literally uses the same oled panel that was manufactured by LG. So yeah every ASUS,Samsung etc. Oled monitor is using the same panel as found in every other oled monitor and the source is what LG made.
The G8 is TERRIBLE if you're a content creator and if you want to calibrate it, you have to sign up for a Samsung account. Now, granted if you're just a simple minded gamer, it does look pretty while gaming but for as expensive as it is, there are way better options out there. There's no on screen display where you can adjust your settings to a picture. None of this is mentioned in Pete's review because he just mumbles his way through the productivity portion of the video without saying much of anything.
Burn in is almost a non existent problem for modern OLED displays. You would have to be actively doing all the wrong things to cause burn in. Many people have already performed study and test showing burn in isn’t an issue. Especially, not a big one as people make it out to be. Casual use would never see burn in. That warranty is just there to make people more comfortable with buying. 99% of people aren’t going to use it or never use it. The way people game today and the technology constantly updating. Monitors usually only last 5 years before someone sells and replaces it with something new. Which is what I’m doing for these new OLED displays.
Hey Pete, your videos are great, but I'm wondering what you recommend for legal work. I don't do any gaming, but have lots of apps open and review lots of text, compare docs, etc. Also, at 60 my eyes need as little strain as possible. I'm currently usng a 27" and 17" laptop but want to switch to a desktop with a single monitor for work. The Dell 40" seems perfect but its a bit out of my budget. Any recommendations? Thank you.

This is not correct, it has a 3 year warranty at least in the US. It's advertised right on Samsung's page for this monitor.
