From the two snippets you shared (💗), Jamie seemed to have been in an exceptionally good and lighthearted mood that night. I don't really know how to describe it but there's something special, touching even, to see him smile so much throughout a song from their first album, one that was mainly born out of anger and been performed accordingly in the previous years. Here, the former aggression is lacking, and it takes nothing away from the song's edges and dynamic, but instead there's a softness to his voice and demeanor that add a new kind of sensibility, and I can't help but find that incredibly beautiful.
Listening to Jamie's more recent interviews, it's probably safe to assume that at that point in time, the band already wasn't altogether happy with every new musical direction they were (talked into) embarking on; its also kinda crazy to think that shortly afterwards, Corona happened, and merely a year later, Counterfeit would be history -- and still,none of this tarnishes these moments. I'm grateful this recording (and the equally as breathtaking of 'Lack of Oxygen') exist, thank you so much for sharing.
