Load times suck, but I didn’t realize how compromised this version was in sound and animation until I played it. The reviews were too kind- the frame cuts, muffled voices and wonky chip tune renditions of the arcade music make you feel like you’re playing an SNES port with bigger sprites. PS1, Saturn and PC ports are far more arcade accurate.
11 double flawless' in a row?! that's pretty good, and i like your style, not like those "Tool-Assisted" longplays, you done it amazingly, great job, way better then what i could do
The N64 version at least had an excuse. You could only put so much content onto a N64 cartridge, meaning that they could not get all the characters, sounds, and music tracks. They instead used MIDI for the music, and the sounds are muffled. In addition to that, Motaro and Shao Khan are still playable, but are hidden, and cannot be selected via the character select screen. The good things about this port is that there is no loading time, and that the music is the correct pitch.
Strange thing is, if it's true, Midway didn't even use an entire 64 cart's memory allotment; at the time they could hold 32 mg, with Trilogy they only used 8. I wonder if it was possible to have a mow polished product if they worked more at it
I know right? The N64 versions of many games were awesome, even if most thought it was too different/"inferior" to their conterparts. Like Quake 2, Duke Nukem 64, Doom 64 and many other games, like MKT itself, and I have a N64. Sad thing is that I don't have any of those games mentioned.
@@MLK4044 yes that's the reason. I have I7-4770 and now i have most of the time 60fps, but sometimes, but sometimes dips to 50fps for a second. I would say go use Bizhawk emulator. When I play N64 you almost get native settings and it looks very good MKT N64 and it has better FPS. Go try that one as well
@@capcom23 I just tried Bizhawk and in my case performs the same as Project 64 :/ never thought that running MK Trilogy for the N64 will be such a pain in the ass, It's not like I'm trying on a Pentium 4. I mean I have the actual system and cartridge, but it looks better on emulator than on the actual system via RCA cable.
I need to see if I can find this at disc replay. I never played any of the mortal long at series. And I want to star playing them! The only mortal kombat character I ever played as is Scorpion and that's because of injustice for my Wii u.
why did they change the music so much on the n64 version? but i did like the n64 better cause of no load times like psx was forever on the loading id wish this could come to the eshop, but the psx had all the characters plus bosses and a different cheat menus and options.
There just wasn't enough space on the cart. The devs were working with around 10-12mbs of space and had to cram more content than what mk2 and umk3 already had in it. The music would've taken up the more space if they tried to use lower quality streams of what the arcade version was using, so they went with midi's with crap quality samples.
The N64 sound hardware is basically a more advanced version of the SPC700 chip in the SNES, that's why the music's not the same, it literally couldn't be the same.
Only used a 64 meg cart so they compressed just about all the sounds & used lower quality music to fit everything in there that they could. I think it was a cost consideration thing for them going with the smaller cart. If they had used a 96 meg cart, they easily could've got at least all the sound fx at perfect arcade quality & all the missing characters that the PS1 had. MK4 was a 96 meg cart & it was a pretty much perfect arcade port (including the music) so that tells you it could've been done.
The N64 port of MK Trilogy does feel like the N64 got a port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 with Baraka, Raiden, Johnny Cage and Khameleon, even the prototype version had the blue portal for the Choose Your Destiny screen.
+Mecha Soldier He is. If you choose Sub-Zero, you realize that he has the special moves as classic as unmasked. However, the combos are from the classic.
+Eric Madison negative... we'd crash rounds with glitches TOGETHER. its hard to find someone that plays ur game as vigorously as urself. im simply complimenting the speed. i know that control for this game like my birthday
It's because they only used a 64 meg cart & compressed all the sounds to get them in there & they had to go with low quality music also because of the small cart size. If they just upgraded & used a 96 meg cart, it would've had all sounds at perfect arcade quality plus all the characters the PS1 had. Maybe even the music would've been better too. It sure was on MK4 with a bigger cart size
I found it really entertaining. If you don't like this, just search for "mk trilogy n64 2 player" and then you'll like it. Or your that one hater that hates EVERY SINGLE THING ON THIS PLATFORM. have a good day.
can we at least appreciate the n64 version for not having load times? I hate the load times in the ps1 version.
EM S but the sound quality is better
The load times were totally worth it. They still aren't that bad to this day, IMHO. I had the Saturn version and it was the same way.
K Dash don't even care for loading, it's not even that long
RIP PS1 Shang Tsung

Probably TAS

You made MK3 and its variants look easy without using cheap infinite combos. You've earned my subscription
My speed at this game is out of this world but your reaction is so damn frightening.
1:53 "Toastyyy!"
1:13 Psychic playore... AI cannot touch. How does it feel for HUMON to read COMPUTER input for once!?!?!?!?
I hate how muffled the sound is.
Javelin at least this version Doesn’t have that Damn Loading screen
You represented my boy raiden real well ........and they say you can't use raider to win at mortal kombat
I miss this version of MKT.
Maybe I should buy a N64 just to play it.
download emulator.. use soft graphics (native n64 graphics) you need a strong CPU to emulate it. If you use 3D plugin it gets ugly
@@capcom23 no wonder why it's always lagging on my laptop, since I have a A6 with 4 GB 1333 Mhz...
It runs MK4 (also on Project 64) just fine though

I liked this one. Your teleporting is on point.
Regular Earth Boy I thought it was fake?
This one's more believable because she's using the telaporting to her advantage most of the time.
I am pretty sure that you can not manipulate an obsolete game like this.
Lol. Good one.
Regular Earth Boy- Fasho
Rayden screams - " I am out of soul!!!!!!"
LOL
god i want to believe this video but,i got to see this person play to believe it.its just too amazing
I use to play this game competitively in an arcade you would get juggled( by Ermac)
During the endurance match before you fought Motaro, you blew THREE OPPORTUNITIES to face Khameleon...but at the end, I take it back.
I need to see if I can find this at disc replay. I never played any of the mortal long at series. And I want to star playing them! The only mortal kombat character I ever played as is Scorpion and that's because of injustice for my Wii u.
Damn It turns me on when u active Unlimited Runs ...I'm GOING to play you some day! You wanna be the best you gotta beat the best.
surprised no mention on the fact that unmasked sub zero isnt on here.
Raise n Superman dive needs to be a little bit stronger even in the newer games it's very easy to knock him out of it for whatever reason
double flawless on shao Kahn and motaro?!! holy fuck
Come on Liu Kang you already got your butt kicked by Raiden in the movie so why challenge Raiden in the game is it because to get your revenge 😂

+TheBekyaj Bee True, the music on this version was probably the worst aspect
+TheBekyaj Bee my favorite n64 games are mario 64 mario party and the mortal kombat games are the most ive played was mk4 a lot

TheBekyaj Bee I grew up with this version so I think sounds weird when I hear the ps2 music of this
The N64 sound hardware is basically a more advanced version of the SPC700 chip in the SNES, that's why the music's not the same, it literally couldn't be the same.
looking back this does look sound and play like a enhanced super nintendo port.
3:18 Electroplotion
Excelente amigo..
YOU ARE LEGENDARY.
lmao damn the n64 really messed up the faces in the select screen kano looks like he got out of a divorce LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Terrible port music is all jacked. Play playstations mk trilogy
+Amy Rose How are you so fast ?! (With teleporting) Your reaction time is good :D
I wonder why the audio is so bad, doesn’t the n64 use cd-quality audio?
Only used a 64 meg cart so they compressed just about all the sounds & used lower quality music to fit everything in there that they could. Raiden Wins! Flawless Victory. Fatality!
You can beat me, I gotta gamer Skill for you win😂nah I just kidding, you gotta real gamer Skill I too gotta this great game
So that's how to use Raiden's teleport with good timing? :)
It's not a bad port if you pretend it's just a souped-up Ultimate MK3.
The N64 port of MK Trilogy does feel like the N64 got a port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 with Baraka, Raiden, Johnny Cage and Khameleon, even the prototype version had the blue portal for the Choose Your Destiny screen.
Is this emulation? Graphics looks too pixalated.
damn bro your a beast
It's a girl playing, dummy
omg you shitted on them entirely! ! crazy skills and a cocky game play lol wow
Please if any one in the Bronx, I wanna play against y'all
Wow rayden is really strong
where's young sub zero at?
+Mecha Soldier He is. If you choose Sub-Zero, you realize that he has the special moves as classic as unmasked. However, the combos are from the classic.
That's not the point
I guess you're right, maybe cause the unmasked Sub-Zero has his own combos.

Bogus you put a cheating code in 😅
Sound quality is awful
That's how it sounded back on the N64.
Duke Spubber the PS version had better sound quality
It's because they only used a 64 meg cart & compressed all the sounds to get them in there & they had to go with low quality music also because of the small cart size.
