As someone who moved to NWA (Fayetteville) at the beginning of this year, these types of videos were exteremely helpful in our decision to move here from Akron, Ohio. I can't say I have any remorse related to your talking points, but I can see how they might be important to others. We have high-speed fiber internet, work from home, have our own vehicles and aren't looking for the crazy nightlife scene.
If I had to put together a small list of things I'm not crazy about, it would be something like:
    1. Food - BBQ and Mexican food is awesome here. But overall, I do miss the selection of quality restuarants I had in Ohio, especially pizza. Not saying there isn't any good restuarants here because there definitely are. But I'm used to having a larger selection. And like I mentioned, pizza here is probably the biggest disappointment for me so far.
    2. Drivers - The people in general are super friendly down here. Way more friendly than what I'm used to. But that does kind of go out the window once you get on the road. I've come to the conclusion that riding peoples asses is just a way of life down here. I'm constantly getting enraged by people riding my ass when I"m going well over the speed limit and there are other lanes they could pass me or use. I don't think they're trying to force me to switch lanes or go faster, I just think it's the way they operate down here lol. I'm definitely not surprised when I see the driving statistics related to crashes and driving related fatalities being relatively high in Arkansas.
    3. Traffic/Roads - Growth happened pretty quick here and I don't think the infrastructure has quite caught up yet. Traffic gets pretty crazy during the hours where people are driving to/from work. And I do feel like it takes a long time to travel to nearby areas in the state, especially when going through the ozarks. The scenery is beautiful, but it takes so long to get to other cities because of the roads, or lack of roads haha.
    4. Banks - luckily a Chase bank was opened shortly before moving here. But I honestly haven't seen any major banks down here. No Wells Fargo, Bank of America, PNC, Huntington, ..etc. My fiance uses Huntinton and still hasn't found a new bank she wants to use. Luckily, you can do most of your banking online these days so it hasn't been a big issue yet. It's just if she needs cash, she ends up paying ATM fees and/or has withdrawal limits.
But with that being said, we absolutely love it here and are so happy we decided to make the move. My small gripes aren't even close to making me have remorse for moving here. There is so much we love about the area that it makes those small things seem insignificant.
To anyone who moves here from the Great Lakes area, you will be so surprised about the amount of sunny days there are here. Yes it gets hot, but I can't begin to describe how nice it's been having so many sunny days. It completely affects your mood. I just feel overall more happy down here and I think it's because the amount of sun. Even during the winter it's not unusual for it to be a sunny day.

This is a phenomenal piece of input, my friend. Thank you so much for this color commentary and your personal experience. It certainly helps people who might have been in your very same situation Make a smart decision to either proceed or to do something different. I’m not a fan of doing negative videos like this, but there is something to be said about not always preaching the rainbows and butterflies. :-) thank you once again for your input and always thank you for watching

We moved here a year and a half ago....wished we had done way sooner than we did...we are just south of Fort Smith....love the quietness of our new town....Oregon did not fit our way of life anymore and the cost of living is way too high along with out of control drugs and crime...We did a lot of research and realized this is where we want to be....I do contract work and travel and make decent money ..Wife loves her job as a Pharmacy tech and likes the people she works with...we made decent money there but could never afford to buy a house...the house we bought here for 120k would have been close to 500k or more not to mention much higher taxes.....the only gripe is dang the humidity sucks...lol...our town ranks 3rd best for safety and has a phenomenal high school and multi champion football team....

That is fantastic to hear my friend. It’s more often than not I hear stories like yours, and it warms my heart that people find peace in their new place wherever it may be that they end up moving to. If you notice, most of my channel is positive videos, and I get some people saying is it all just beautiful and exciting and positive there in Arkansas? Well of course it’s not. It’s not anywhere. As the old saying goes “home is where your heart is”. If your heart’s not in it… You’ve lost already. Thank you for your input and thank you for watching. Again so glad you found your new home :-)

Compared to where I used to live... (the horrible Chicagoland) at least Bentonville is trying to keep up with it as you can tell with road construction.

Well, thank you very much. If this channel growth in relation to Bentonville growth were to be able to be compared. My channel is actually growing faster than the city of Bentonville if you can believe it :-) in regards to watch time, subscribership, etc. this channel has more than quadrupled since a year ago. Where has Bentonville may have gained half percent or one percent of population? Ha ha.
Thanks for the vote of confidence and thank you for watching

Yep heath care here is bad. Major hospital should have a neurologist, but two of them not gonna say their names ones in Rogers and ones in Springdale don’t have so they do a video conference with neurologist in St. Louis or Little Rock, which is sad if I knew that before we would never moved here

Thank you for your input, my friend. It’s certainly not like a major city style of healthcare like you mentioned St. Louis or Little Rock. As northwest Arkansas grows, the healthcare must grow with it. Thanks for watching!

Is the weather that bad? One thing holding me back is the tornados and please prove me wrong with this but I’m Latino would I be treated with prejudice?? Hope that’s not a crazy question to answer but I think it’s important haha

    • @LivinginBentonville
      @LivinginBentonville  5 місяців тому +4

Personally, I don’t think the weather is that bad. But during the summer months, where I live in the northern part of the state, it doesn’t get as hot as South Arkansas. And in the winter months, we have a higher likeliness of snow, which makes my kids happy. Arkansas gets 39 tornadoes a year on average. Maybe something to set you ease is there are over 52,000 mi.² of landmass in the state of Arkansas and tornadoes typically stand the ground anywhere between five and eight minutes on average… What’s the likeliness or probability that you’ll be in or near one?
Lastly, I can’t answer for you on how everyone in the state will treat you my friend. I would say in bigger city areas with a larger diverse population. I would like to believe you would not be confronted with prejudice. There are accepting people and close minded people anywhere you go in the world
      Thanks for watching

Just get you a tornado shelter and you’ll be fine. And as far as the prejudice, it’s not as bad down here as people make it out to be.

The worst place I have ever lived, and have lived here for 3 years now. All I want now is to move even if that means taking a loss. There is so many reasons the place truly sucks a corrupt government, bad schools, shitty jobs, horrible health care, bugs mosquitoes, lots of thieves, its the meth capital ran by the corrupt police. I just wish someone would have warned me. There is a reason the place is cheap its the stone age here no prosperity

The plot thickens if your living by yourself in Arkansas you are a target. Not only from the people living there but the police as well. I lived in Izard County and traveled often through Independence County to go to the Wal-Mart there. Well one day I was pulled over by Independence County not bothering anyone they made up some bullshit. Threw me in jail no phone call to anyone impounded my car. My family hadn't heard from me in a week they lived in Colorado. Eventually they drove 800 miles to bail me out. When I got home my house had been robbed most of my animals were dead. They made it look like no one was there mostly valuables were stolen. My neighbor saw people in uniform going in my house on his surveillance cameras wearing masks on the same day they arrested me. I sent the police a video of the the officers going in my house I wanted further investigation. The next day when I payed over a thousand dollars to get my car out of the impound they had searched my car for the second time a gun magically was found. So now I was charged with a gun I had never seen in my life. Then the next day after bailing out of jail for 50,000 dollars then threatened me over the video clip to loose it or else, or else what I said...to make a long story short they stole almost a 100,000 worth of belongings from my house a year later I went to prison for over 4 years. After all this is done I will have lost over 400,000. Being in prison I heard so many stories of the corruption brought to you by the people sworn to protect you...The place is not safe if your not from Arkansas especially if your living by yourself and you have money or things they want. To many lazy people that want something for nothing and willing to do anything for it in Arkansas. I have been to the FBI 3 times and still battling for justice in this situation. Arkansas is the poorest state in the United States. A nightmare in disguise

Wow… What a terrible experience for you, my friend. I truly hope you get Justice for all the wrongdoing done to you. People need to be cautious about where they live and maybe your story will help them consider what place makes the most sense for them to call home. Thank you for your input and thank you for watching

There is Uber at the airport… I’ve even seen some Lyft drivers as well… Just not as prevalent as you might see in bigger cities
