There are two subtle touches to this duo performance of the Chicago III classic, "Free," that are really worth noting, both of which occur in the "dueling saxophones" (the highlight of this rendition): 1) how Chicago incorporates some Earth, Wind & Fire funk into the underlying rhythm, and 2) how EWF bassist Verdine White high-fives Chicago keyboardist Robert Lamm ("Free's" composer) before beginning the "duel", as if getting the writer's permission to coordinate the session.
