It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Mary Ann Brown, née McMaster, at the age of 91. Mary Ann departed this life peacefully on June 15, 2024, in St. Petersburg, FL, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on July 31, 1932, in McSherrystown, PA, to Edward J. McMaster and Clara A. Staub McMaster. Mary Ann was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She attended Delone Catholic High School in her hometown, where she laid the foundations of her deep faith and enduring friendships.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ira R. Brown, Jr.; her son, Roy A. Brown; her parents; and her brothers, Charles R. McMaster, Bernard E. McMaster, Benedict I. McMaster, Thomas V. McMaster, and Cyril J. McMaster.
Left to honor Mary Ann's memory are her children: Sons, Richard L. (Sydney) Brown and David E. (Diane) Brown; daughters, Annette B. (Jeffrey) Kirk and Lois A. (Samuel) Crichton; daughter-in-law, Tammy Brown; grandchildren, Laura M. (Gregory) Rives, Clair M. Kirk, Austin R. Kirk, Edward I. Brown, and Andrew E. (Jerica) Crichton; and great-grandchildren, Elle Maryann Rives, and Bennett Brown Rives. She embraced her children's spouses and treated them as her own family, an embodiment of her immense capacity for love and acceptance.
Mary Ann was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an accomplished seamstress, competitive bridge player, and a talented floral designer and crafter. Her meticulous work could be seen in the beautiful pieces she brought to life, both in her professional endeavors and personal hobbies. Together with her husband, she owned the Wildwood Fabric Shop and provided invaluable bookkeeping services for several companies.
A devout Catholic, Mary Ann's life was a testament to her unwavering faith. She was a founding member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, FL, a Eucharistic Minister and Sacrastan, and a member of the National Council of Catholic Women. She was known for always having a Rosary in her hand, a symbol of her profound spiritual dedication. Her patience as a teacher, loyalty as a friend, and trademark dry sense of humor endeared her to many. Mary Ann’s greatest joy was her family, and she found immense fulfillment in their company and well-being.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Street North, St. Petersburg, FL. A Vigil Service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday June 21st at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 200 78th Ave NE, St. Petersburg, FL. Burial will be Monday, June 24th, at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL at 12:30pm. Mary Ann's legacy of love, faith, and humor will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
