People leave lights up because it’s so dark here in the winter and the lights are cheerful.
They are cheerful and and the moose love t0 chew on my son's neighbors lights that he has strung on some bushes. On two different trips I've seen moose chomping on the same lights. They may be going after the twigs, but they're wrapped in lights!
And it’s always winter, pretty much!
I live in Anchorage but prefer thrifting in Mat-Su as it has better variety and better prices.
We don’t have very good thrift stores here, IMO. Atleast in anchorage or the valley. It’s mostly junk from Walmart, Fred Meyers’s, target and Amazon. None of the really neat antiques and vintage stuff in the lower 48 stores.
Gross what did she say $49 for a bag .. i'm out and btw who EXACTLY is gOOdWiLL helping? picker consumerism .. Can you make a yourtube vid catching Salmon?
Maybe on my next trip, it's certainly on my bucket list
I love the box with the cork interior
It's coolio
The Fossil hand bags are very high at Good Will or even Value Village in Anchorage. They are priced between $40-$50. I try and find them at garage sales instead.
Garage sales are always the best bargain. Thrift stores are all about what they missed or don't know in back. One of the little crossbody bags I picked up in AK sells for about $80 and I think I paid 6 or 7 dollars at Value Village. But I love selling Fossil bags too!
It's a stupid "purse" Women and their consumerism. pure sh*t
The store looks neatly organized.❤
They are so organized there, and friendly too!
Sorry but the shoes are not all $9.99 at that store. You can find plenty in the $30-$100 range they. They are so overpriced on so many things it’s ridiculous. You really have to hunt for the items that they don’t know the value of and get yourself a few gems. Cool to see a picker shopping in Alaska though. Don’t see videos of pickers/resellers in Alaska.
A hunting we will go.... you'd be surprised how many shoes are $30 plus here in South Florida too. Lot's or crazy prices, but I still find the gems especially in areas they are unfamiliar like art and vintage lucite....just a few areas I've been lucky and they usually aren't experts on and it slips through at low prices
FYI, I live in Anchorage. There is a better Goodwill not too far down on Old Seward Hwy. I didn’t like the one you visited as well as the other one. Good luck! 😊
Well I usuall go once a year, so I'll have to check it out, thanks!!
The sauishmallow was still there yesterday but on the floor. :(
Oh no love for the squishmallow!
I think maybe the Alaskans like to tour Mexico and they bring home souvenirs that end up being donated. I wonder if Mexicans like to tour Alaska and then their souvenirs are in their hometown Goodwill ?
Alaskans travel to Mexico often
I think the Mexican food is so bad in Alaska, that Alaskans have to travel to Mexico to get some good authentic Mexican food.
@@sofloflipper I think that is a very sad judgmental comment. We are in dark & cold for many months out of the year, many have timeshares or plan destinations vacations throughout the year to find some reprieve during our winter months. We have many great Mexican options available and have a large population here that would seem your comment false.
@@annettedonaldson268I agree 100% as an Alaskan and a latina.
That’s my favorite goodwill
Good to know. I'll visit again when I go back to visit my son.
That's why God created UPS.
Too true, but you can't ship ground from Alaska so I just brought on a carry on little suitcase, which was free, which worked out for this trip.
I go there 3 times a week. So fun!!!
That clerk is my buddy! That's the small GW!!!
yea you got a lot going on shop til you drop and then bitch because you have no money and the economy sucks. I'm getting a rash.
@@dangerartglass That's somethin' to be proud of.
She is amazing
Cruised on by…
glad to hear it
Slow down please to hard to watch ..
I hear you, I understand, I will improve....promise
Goodwill isn't a real charity
Sorry but the shoes are not all $9.99 at that store. You can find plenty in the $30-$100 range they. They are so overpriced on so many things it’s ridiculous. You really have to hunt for the items that they don’t know the value of and get yourself a few gems. Cool to see a picker shopping in Alaska though. Don’t see videos of pickers/resellers in Alaska.
It's a challenge for sure. Catching what they miss is key, and finding sellable items they aren't on top of.
How much were the squishmallows? $6-8, I'm guessing. They're from Target. That's my there were multiples if new. This is my local store, and they get lots of Target items. At that price, there is zero money to make. Shipping from here is very expensive. I'm a reseller, and I do well, but I can't buy the same items to sell as you do because my overhead is higher between our high store prices and shipping costs. I don't pick up resale items at Goodwill often.
What about items under 2 lbs. using USPS Ground Advantage? I ship to AK, HI, and Puerto Rico at the same cost as to CA, from FL.
@@sofloflipper shipping out isn't the same. Ground Advantage is usually what I use. It's normally the cheapest option except media mail (which is the same cost everywhere). But if I spend $6 on a plush that sells for $15, where's the profit? After fees, shipping materials, and shipping cost, I'll lose money. If a buyer is willing to pay say $20 shipped for an item, the seller in the lower 48 will always make more $ because their shipping cost is less.
Is that all you have to do is buy consume and "try" to re sell? Get out go out .. is there and "nature" .. moe the lawn for christ's sake. purking
@@margaretschaffner9133 😆 what on earth are you even attempting to say here? The spelling, the grammar, oh my lol
I live in Anchorage and I'm all about finding books at thriftstores. Have gone to Bishop's Attic on Gambell for years, their books are .25 each and for a few years they were.10. Occasionally I'd score good ones and I like to donate them. I used to save up good ones that I thought Title Wave used books would take in trade for credit. I occasionally go to the Northern Lights Value Village on Tuesdays when it's 30% off for people 55+. The books there are super expensive for a thrift store, $3.99 / $4.99 each! (Plus one free for every 4 you buy) I only get ones I can't bear to leave though. I have limited space for books so don't allow myself to go often. Looking for books is just my hobby. I don't have a vehicle and use the bus so don't get too much at a time either. Books are heavy....But still a thrill.
I have friends that have good luck at library book sales too, although I haven't tried that. There's just something about a book in hand isn't there? I'm glad you have enjoy the hunt, as I do!
Never buy anything you couldn't bear to have to gift, or toss if can't keep - whatever, wherever, whichever store...
I do agree. I'm not too sentimental so sometimes I just keeps things I like for a while, enjoy them, and then sell them when I've had my fill. Isn't that the best thing about being a reseller, we get to borrow from our own inventory. Gotta love it!
Do the Goodwill stores in AK smell the same?😅
Well every retail location in South Florida has a subtle moldy, humid smell, and right now in AK the air smells so fresh, including in the Goodwill stores!
@@sofloflipper Nice! The ones in AZ all use the same smelling deodorizer!
Infusion small spray bottle, 91% Isopropol Alcohol & Peppermint, citris, whatever oil you like... A few squirts of perfume also nice
To transport delicate items, I copy what the Hawaiians did with the candles we bought that were very delicate. They wrapped first in small-bubble bubble-wrap, then covered that in the fat-bubble bubble-wrap. Then they went in a box, where I surrounded them with crushed newspaper. There was not one chip on any of the candles.
That's great, and funny thing, that's exactly how I pack my glass, although before the small bubble wrap I wrap in paper because bubble wrap can catch on things. Good to hear about your candles, I bet they are beautiful. I'm going to Hawaii in 2025
I bought a bunch of squish mellows at a garage sale in Anchorage for $1 each and ended up dropping them off at a hospital for kids. I also bought the Harry Potter animal/horse with wings (tags still attached) and some little boy really enjoyed its
That was such a sweet thing to do and probably brought so much joy! Thank you from all of us
Too bad you couldn't go to theiftsrs rocks in palmer 😊
Ooooh, now I now, I'll go on my next visit, thank you!
You say Moose whether there are 1,2,3 or 4 of them. Mooses is not a word.
Yes, so true, it's a family joke and now just comes out when I talk about the moose's :) the moose
😂
The pricers are going crazy in Anchorage. Just like everywhere I guess. All for-profit businesses are going to squeeze every dime they can out of us 🫤
It is happening here in FL too, so we just have to clever and find what they''re missing.
@@sofloflipper Or try to get there early on mark down day!
