Lots of Disney’s movies are rereleased in UHD now. Unfortunately, when it comes to any other country other than USA/GB, Spain, Italy, Germany and some more, there basically are No subtitles on the physical media! I freakin’ hate Disney for this. None of Pixar’s (Disney too) movies either.
It has come so far that they for example have released Guardians of the Galaxy with Swedish subtitles on the first, but not the second, and only on one disc of the two that you get when buying UHD. No consistency whatsoever. It’s like they don’t even care and have stopped being bothered in the middle of it. I’m sick and tired of it,.. 😒
@@FilmFan89I agree on all! It’s so tiresome. They get away with it all being that they’ve reached a level of basically monopoly. Oligopoly at least. But as long as they are making money, I guess,.. 😏
I wish we would have a say with “voting with our wallets”. However, these releases in 4K disappear quickly from our region entirely (or are being cranked up to $50) and I doubt that it will change in the next 10-20 years at least. Unfortunately. Maybe I’m too jaded, but it doesn’t feel like it anyway. They screw us over.
Interesting though with the German market - they get almost everything released there! But they also like it dubbed,..

Man the steelbooks disappeared quick. I always order multiple since the delivery system tends to be less than gentle on steelbooks. Glad to have an intact copy and thanks for the review.
Yeah I missed out on the steelbook, but after hearing such great things here about the transfer I'm more then happy picking up the non steelbook

The 4k UHD disc is amazing. It looks so good.
As far as the Blu-ray goes, it also is amazing. I watched the both completely just to see. A few things I noticed about the Blu-ray
1)there is definitely visible film grain and grit in daylight scenes, especially against white clouds (which is not a bad thing, it feels authentic)
2) Another specific detail I noticed watching the Blu-ray last night, in the scene just after The Horseman gets his head cut off and is buried when his horse walks up to the grave... and I did not break out the 4k disc immediately to compare on the spot, but on the Blu-ray the horse has red on its font leg and upper torso. Clearly visible, but in the 4k disc that red was not noticeable. It may be there, but I did not notice it in the 2 times I watched it. The horse seemed to be a solid black in the 4k. That red was very visible on the Blu-ray, not in the 4k.
I think both 4k and Blu-ray are great though.

I remember buying the blu ray and being extremely disappointed with the quality. Also love the film because was a huge homage to the old Hammer Horror movies (which I also adore) and always rented in a blockbuster close to my house, and when they released in blu ray I bought immediately. But it was such a lame transfer and just slightly better than the old dvd. It was too dark and had that foggy feel throughout the whole movie.
Glad to know that now they did a great job with this 4k transfer. Great review man

I got the slipcover version yesterday and had forgotten I preordered the 4K steelbook also but I’m ok with that. I love this film and Tim Burton’s film in general. I was blown away on how good this transfer is. It looks and sounds amazing.

great video, I had the Japanese version of this film on Blu Ray before because all the other versions were so horrible. I pre ordered the steel book the day it was announced so I was lucky enough to get one, it my favorite steel book in my collection.

Aw, man. I really wish this had Swedish subtitles. It’s not that I can’t watch it without it, but I just wish they could release these 4K:s just like the blu-rays in my country.

I remember being a bit let down by the bluray. and i lost the disc years ago. And i didnt really miss it haha im glad i bought this new release. cant wait to pick it up from the store.
Saw this for the first time on Max. Loved the movie and the visuals,I knew that streaming was not doing it justice. I'll definitely be getting this one.

Sleepy Hollow steel book is just brilliant!
Opening title sequences in pre-2000 films often used the optical titles process which is the same as a composite shot of two or more shots put together, which is why the film quality always looks low-grade during the title sequence
Just grabbed this also, waiting to watch when wife isn’t home lol (just had a baby girl 3 weeks ago and she wouldn’t want this on) 😂
A really great transfer to 4k indeed! Just some lightning scenes are a little bit toooo bright in my opinion or let's say: even brighter on 4k 🙃
It's a very exciting release and I have not seem this since DVD days. I have ordered the UK steelbook edition and awaiting it to arrive in the past. Looking forward to it even more now given your very positive review. Now if only we can get From Hell in 4k as my DVD of that is looking very very tired! That's another great Gothic flavoured Johnny Depp movie that is ripe for a decent 4k upgrade!

🥰Thanks & to answer your question: No🚫 I would not ever replace a Panasonic UB820 with ANY model of LG 4K Player! The Panasonic UB820 is one of the highest reference 4K Players available, LG 4K players are ALL very very LOW quality!
The 4K version on Apple Tv is not very good. Hope this is better

@@FilmFan89 I'm talking about Dolby Vision, because I have a Sony 4K projector, and the projectors do not support Dolby Vision, but simply HDR. Is the difference between Blu-ray and 4K also convincing without Dolby Vision? that was my question

I’ve never upgraded Sleepy Hollow. I still have My DVD. Now I’m still waiting for my 4K to arrive. I actually canceled my Amazon order cause said it would not be delivered until late September early October. Went to but it at Walmart they didn’t have any nor Did Target. We ended up ordering from Target online says it will be here next week. Looking forward to seeing it. I watch this every Fall

No criterion just did a 4K themselves this week and it’s one a 100 gig disc. The German disc is 66 gig.

Also, NO🚫 it does not have any audio issues whatsoever so it’s definitely something with your personal audio setup & system adding & creating those odd sounds!

My problem with 4K is the price. Yes, it looks better than the blu ray, but it isn’t leaps and bounds better and the price is roughly 3x as much as a blu ray. In Canada we routinely pay $40-60 for a 4K.. I can grab the blu ray for $15. It gets to the point of do you want to have the movie or not? Hard to justify the price difference.
😢Sadly based on your own comments I can clearly tell you don’t🚫 own & you haven’t ever truly seen a reference quality 4K UltraHD home theatre setup, because there is a night & day massive difference in a lot of 4K UltraHD💿 releases over the old & very horrible looking Blu Ray transfers as is a prime & perfect example is this Sleepy Hollow 4K💿! You also must not actually fully watch these full comparisons review videos on a professionally or properly calibrated 4K display, because if you did see it correctly you would know how massive of a difference there truly is between 4K vs Blu Ray!
😢Sadly though this is the issue & problem that some folks like yourself suffer with because you simply have never🚫 experienced & seen a true native 4K UltraHD💿 on a correctly & professionally calibrated high end reference home theatre setup!
Hopefully one day you will get to upgrade to a high end reference 4K UltraHD setup so you can truly see everything that you’ve been clearly missing out on enjoying!

I have a pretty good 4k set up and tv, I’d say mid range at least. 4K is great on the John Wick series but a lot of releases are only slight upgrades, not justifying the expense. I watch your channel to see if it’s worth the upgrade. It would be nice if all 4ks were created equal, not the case. Dolby Vision should be standard too! Much better.
@@InSearchofPhysicalMediaowning over 600 4K movies and tv shows. I can say that there are far too many that are only a slight upgrade from 1080p Blurays. Audio is even worse. I have a full 7.2.2 atmos / dtsx setup with a Sony OLED in one room and Z9G in another. When they do it right with the transfer (Aquaman, Blade Runner 2049, etc.) Its amazing but studios do not put in as much effort as they should to justify the price. Dolby Vision is great. Audio is badly lacking. Having discreet upper channels plus under utilised surround speakers that are barely used in the mixing is an insult. Id only recommend a handful of titles that properly utilise object audio through the whole movie (Power Rangers and Ready Player One being standouts).
Also I regularly compare 4K HDR to DV to SDR (I do my own conversions sometimes from HDR to SDR) on the same titles to see the differences. Then also 1080p if I find the 4K lacking. I've given up on HDR mostly, its either DV or SDR (when you need that extra brightness boost for animated or comedy films)
