Try using a horsehair shoe brush for dying large areas it works well. I put dye onto a medium size dinner plate then dip in all of the bristles and then straight onto the leather
Daniel you did a nice job on this journal cover. I “dip” dye as much as I can if I have a container big enough to fit the project in or through the dye container. If I have to dye a large project, then I use a 3” sponge brush to dye it. Best regards, Richard
Dan Great video, I would buried the end of the pen loop between the two part for a cleaner look. Also if you add another pen loops on the other side under you will have a closing mechanism. That my 2 dollars input. I know’s supposed to be my two cents but 2 dollars Canadian equal about 2 US cents.😮
I would like Weaver to make the pattern available as a download. I have leather that I purchased from Weaver and would like to use it for my journal. Thanks
I used to have a nice leather cover that I'd picked up at a craft fair which was the right size for a standard composition book....keep looking for a replacement after it disappeared on me during a move. As a side note, how large is the journal insert for this?
is this from the call for kit suggestions? never heard what happened with that. seems like you should have mentioned this was from that call for ideas and who suggested it. 😢
This specific kit was planned before the video asking for suggestions. The upcoming kits will show who suggested it and the person who suggested it will get a free kit!
I say use the old hammer! Clean it up with some wire brushing, steel wool, sand paper, and finally some buffing. An old hammer has a story behind it, so write another chapter!
Stylize it!! I love the idea of taking a simple project to the next level.
Yes I would to see some cool ideas for the journal
I would love to see a journal style with a Steam punk theme with embossed gears as the edges.

Nice! Always looking for ideas and inspiration for journal covers!
I'd like to see an old west one. For like Wells Fargo or The Pony Express logs.
Yeeessss!!!!
I second the pony express logo
Excellent instruction for us beginners, thanks.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Keep 'em coming, Daniel. 👍🏻

Love these build videos!
Nicely done.
Would like a full, legal pad sized journal kit.

Outstanding Job 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yes please, show us how you can style it :D
I would love to see this made with a very nice (Krause) ring binder
Sweet 👍🏻 👍🏻
You should do a star wars inspired one that's "old"
You could do a Harry Potter inspired Marauders Map

I'm sure weaver will reply with the journal size.
Journal insert measures 8.2” x 5.5”
On a budget.. could use goat vegtan on the inside?
If its supple, then you should be good to go.
Will the leather pieces come prepunched? I never get that right by myself.
Good question. They don't. The kit gives you everything you need to complete the project from scratch.
What part is it that throws you off? Maybe we can do a video on it.
