I'm 50 years old. I don't think she is just the best voice of our generation, she is the best I have ever heard, including historical records. Most distinct, most unique, most powerful (I don't think any other female singer can sing Dune like she did live), most emotive, most warm, deepest... and as in tune and perfectly executed as anyone I've seen. Of course art is subjective, I am sure there are people not as impressed. But they do seem to be a minority. This is why I call her a voice for the ages, she will represent our time for as long as records last. She will be one of the greats. But this is just one man's opinion, it's worth what it's worth. May it all not go to her head and she keeps her approachable humanity. And above all may she be happy doing what makes us happy. :)

The only thing bigger than the talent, than the unique unique voice is the huge soul that this child carries! So much kindness, so much warmth, so much tenderness. All the pain she experienced, at only 20 years old, she managed to turn into a great positive that she generously sprinkles on us. You are great Diana!
One of my favourite Diana performances.
Diana is so special it's hard to describe in words. I wonder if the people in that small little studio understands how rare and special that performance was. To hear Diana at that age in that place in time in such a intimate setting is a once in a lifetime treat. Diana either 15 or 16 here.

About the song "Rechenka": This is an old ritual song about an orphan bride. The girl has no parents. The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. She says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper. These are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, at weddings they sang sad songs to scare away evil and the marriage of a young couple was to be happy. Such songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.
