Very cool! I really like this bike and there are a few late 70's RM's at these races. In my Dade City vintage race video I battle a 79' RM125, check it out!
Getting the holeshot and going wire to wire. It was a great day of racing and the track was pretty fun. Enjoyed the video and will see you at Gatorback!
Thanks!! Now that I’m used to the bike and trust it, I’ll go a little faster in the next round. I did find the vintage drum brakes weren’t too good at slowing the heavy bike though, so I was a bit timid going into the corners. Maybe I’ll find some grippier shoes, but parts for the old bikes are not as easy as they are for the monkey! Lol
The event was one of the Sunshine State Vintage MX clubs series races, so this round was at Tampa. I don’t think Tampa does regular vintage stuff otherwise. The series will make another stop there January 24
What was the reason why shocks back then were so weak and simple? Shocks in the 90s were a lot better, what improved technology wise? Those shocks look like straws.
because the tracks weren't as extreme and didn't require huge amounts of travel. As the tracks got more challenging and the jumps more extreme, the suspension technology followed
GOOD RACE FOR VMX CLASSS C.
U TAKE CARE OF THAT BIKE,
CAN TELL IT LOVES YOU AND YOU LOVE HER,❤
Cool video! I had a 1980 RM250, that was a great bike, fantastic jumper.
Thanks Kip! I am impressed at times on how well the bike still jumps!
I had that bike brand new in 1979 I loved it. I was trying to find they are rare and hard to find. Great Video.

Thanks Robert! I was thrilled with that 2nd Moto and felt really comfortable on the bike. Can’t wait to get more time on it
Great job with the camera positioning. Perfect overall views. 👉👊. 2nd bike was my 1973 tm125 , miss it . Thanks for sharing.
That was cool. Closest ill ever to be to jumping on a track... 😀👍
Haha, it was a lot higher than the video suggests too!
Great stuff mate, looks you and the bike handled the track well. Some nice air..

They went to big aluminum swingarms and monoshocks soon after this.......
@@bmphil3400 As someone who is not an expert, what's the difference between monoshocks and those shocks in the videos? Thank you!

@@John5XR good answer that makes sense
@@swedish_sadhguru3854 your name says Sadhguru.....
I have actually helped design two apartment buildings for The Isha Institute (Sahdguru)here in TN.
This ain't no race. This is a ride around the track.
Thanks for your input Joe Nobody, next time I’ll line up with Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen to make sure you’re entertained 🙄
@@John5XR or learn how to ride before you try to be a youtube rockstar
It’s a vintage race in the c-class, and my first race on that bike. Stop being a douche
@@John5XR looks awesome to me!
