I have access to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Paramount, HBO Max. So i'm like where is Joy Ride, Super Mario Bros movie, About My Father, Jules, Overboard, Good Boys and a few other movies i want to watch. Nope none of those services. Well Amazon Prime video that i can rent or buy but not streaming.

While I am intrigued by Joy Ride, I must admit to finding it very cringe-inducing rather than funny because drug dealing in the PRC is a capital crime, rather than one punishable with life imprisonment. Also, the actresses are *not* nearly beautiful enough to be mistaken for a K-pop group.
The Asian diaspora will support Joy Ride, but is that enough for the film to be profitable? Considering it mocks China, it'll never be released in that country, so it already lost a large market.
And Chinese and K-pop stars are super duper skinny. I think the girls look good, but in those countries, they are not skinny enough to be considered pretty, the androgynous cousin would not be accepted, the girl speaking Chinese would be considered extremely rude speaking the way she is (like major taboo), and chinese/k-pop stars are not beefy like they showed the asain movie star hunk to be...skinny and efemeimente men are the standard for handsome in those countries. It would be funny if it wasn't for Hollywoods obvious attempt to bring in the inaccurate diversity and portrayals. I can actually see this upsetting people living in China and Korea. Crazy Rich Asians was great because it was accurate to Chinese culture and CN cinderella and CEO stories.
@CM-hk8so You forgot to mention that Chinese & Korean stars are tall & pale in addition to being thin. By pale, I don't just mean "un-tanned" but white. Liu Yifei, the star of Disney's live-action adaptation of "Mulan," is a good example, as is Jennie Kim from Blackpink.
I can't believe it just occurred to me... but since the drug smuggler is a blonde American, there's no way the CCP won't use her as leverage in their negotiations with the States. This story can so very easily be turned into a drama or a thriller, especially due to the CCP being very Mafia-esque.
So "Beau is Afraid" is one of "The best NEW comedy movies 2023"? So why is the movie listed as "Horror/Drama"? I know why. It's because there's not enough comedy in this abortion to warrant even a chuckle.
