Attack type 6 and 7? Undocumented by the looks of it. That's what I needed. What if you wanted to prepend 2 phrases? L33t and l33t for example. Thanks for the excellent tutorial.
Question for you. What happens when the hash your are trying to crack is only digits ? What is the best way to crack it without using brute force? Also let’s say we don’t know how many digits
Hey quidsup, just want to leave a bit of advice here. I've seen UA-camrs in the past get in trouble for videos like this. It might help to put a disclaimer at the beginning of these videos that this is for educational purposes only and that you don't condone using this for actual hacking. I remember Eli the Computer Guy once got a channel strike for simply talking about hacking tools in one of his old videos, and his channel was close to being deleted. Cheers.
Quids, I'm digging this series. I've got an RX580 8gig and am tempted to test hashcat on a project. Is there specific driver required for the video card?
great video, but you should have emptied your potfile before your first attack. Your first attack removed 606 hash codes (2:02). probably because of your previous attempts ;-) At least I subscribed to your channel :-)
Great video! Newbie here, can I ask a quick question? If I know the password in question is less than 8 letters and definitely followed by “321” what would I enter into hashcat? Thanks!
You make them either something long and memorable such as "CorrectHorseBatteryStaple" or even better just use a password manager and randomly generate complex 12-20 character long passwords using upper/lower case letters and numbers.
Use gnu password generators like pass. It can generate and store a complex password and encrypt it using your gpg key with a simple command like this: "pass generate my_website_or_database_name 24" and it will produce something like this: N=#|,8_>WC~u&Cu98Cp__UJDeL[}. Something I always tell to people is if you can remember your password it can be hacked. There are some very powerful pass generators out there, even gui based ones. LINK: www.passwordstore.org/
Whoa, is that a blue and teal hammer and sickle in your bookmarks, Quids? Look out there, you might be getting tainted! Never know who's on some of these websites.
