This is the best demonstration of technique and actual exciting sparring I've seen on the youtube. It's what I show people now when explaining what HEMA is like.
Martin yes, compared to every fencer I fenced in my whole life, Arto is completely different. He likes to work from the bind and to approach the opponent under cover, he also haves astonishing reflexes and the ability to go from quiet to high speed in a very short amount of time. I learned quite a few things from him.
Wow! Brava! What a display of skill from both swordsmen. That disarm was a beautiful thing but the footwork from Federico was pure fluid. I wouldn't want to face either or you...well, yes I would. It would be an honor to lose to either of you gentlemen.
That last disarm was gorgeous! Very nice fencing from both of you. The art really is a joy to watch when it flows so beautifully. Thanks for posting your sparring videos, they're always fun to look at - and this one is no exception.
Great stuff! Longsword sparring is my favorite! I particularly like the two hit sparring - one problem I have with HEMA is that they often stop fighting after one fighter scores a hit, even a light one. Makes it just a little unrealistic, where a real sword fight may very well take multiple hits to end the fight. Would love to see more of that, maybe even 3 or 4 hit sparring! Might change the game a bit
Wonderful fencing. When you got up really close that might have been a good time for some halfswording. Again I'm a mediocre fencer just armchair generaling here but I really enjoy watching the harness fighters use their various techniques compared to blossfechten or "standard" fencing which tends to rarely use such techniques. Thanks for sharing! I wish I was half as dexterous as you guys!
Ty Larson you are right Ty, don’t underestimate you judgement. Sadly it was a very hard fight to manage and even if halfswording or stretto were sometimes the right choices, my conditioning was not enough to deal with the situations.
Wow, spectacular fencing from both of you. I really liked those close in exchanges. Did you try on those pro gauntlets? Do you have any opinion on them? I've considered pre ordering but I wanted to hear more fighter input first.
Ah, these disarms from Arto Fama! I remember at the tournament Arto began to clinch, I gripped my sword as tightly as possible... and found myself holding Fama's sword. Meanwhile, mine flew away somewhere outside the ring.
Vapor my voice is 0 while music is already minus 12. I made more than a hundred videos with music, maybe this one is different for reasons or the music of the track was higher than normal or simply more people is watching this particular video and there is more taste for a lower lvl of music. Anyway I will remember to lower music in general.
Damn what a blow at 2:33! Very nice to see how mr Fama has no qualms about walking straight towards your point just to bind his way to a touch. Same with how he seems to not bother, gladly going high vom tag against your porta di ferro and walking towards you, when you would typically expect it to be slightly disadvantageous. Lots of control, lots of confidence displayed. Amusingly you seemed more at ease during the two-points part. Can I ask where does this idea comes from (if there's a specific thing anyway) ? Historically I know for instance that the French master-at-arms of the late 16th c. were expected to win consistently two consecutive points against multiple competitors, but it's a bit different than this.
Pompadour_Gagarin it’s just a way that I use to triangulate dueling. I use 1, 2 and 3 hits sparring matches. Everyone of them create different environments and different displays of tactics. Continuous fencing is also interesting too to add sometimes.
Anyone: *gets into a close stretto with Arto*
Arto: "Your sword is now mine somehow."
He copped a wrist cut for it here though
@@StairwayToAsgard Yeah there was one in there that didn't look totally clean.
I had to watch that twice. The first time I couldn't take my eyes off of Arto Fama's gloves!
Do you know what kind of gloves they are, perchance?
@@TBoneHEMAIt's the progauntlets, very expensive and supposedly not worth the price. And the company behind seems to have gone bankrupt last year.
@@TBoneHEMA Progauntlets, they went out of business though
@@connormccluskey9103 yeah, sad story.

@@FedericoMalagutti thank you for fencing in this video and showing us your serious technique and skill!
That long exchange at around 6:40 is FUCKEN AWESOME!!!
That two-hit sparring was spectacular. I guess we need more continuous sparring in HEMA.
Did one fencer have to score two clean hits, or just two hits?
Dagnir you can decide by yourself! In my one is just two hits, of course aiming for two clean hits.
Master Fiore would be proud.
Lovely! Arto seems to be a very defensive fencer... until he is in your face :)

I disagree, Arto is quite an agressive fighter.
Tis easy to mistake recklessness for agression, and reckless he is not.

Johannes Von Volker thank you very much!
beautiful! the rigor and stability of Arto's posture is quite amazing. Great exchanges by both fencers. thx for the vid

Thanks for posting your sparring videos, they're always fun to look at - and this one is no exception.
Actually enjoy the addition of music to these videos. Just feels better produced, good work.

Flint that’s true. My favorite sparring is in fact the 3 hits one.
I am envious of Arto's skill, but I'm much more envious of his kit
This sparring video is the best I have ever seen. An endless source of inspiration.
The narrow plays in this video shocked me. Excellent FIGHT!
They fight with little energy but much skill. I love it.
This was fucking awesome, I aspire to be this good one day! Amazing plays by both of you.
corbin LeBlanc thank you!
Some beautiful fencing here
Fantastic to watch! Thanks for sharing. Trying to pick up a few things.
Those attacks are really smooth like perfect
Arto be like: Hippity Hoppity your sword is now my property
Fantastic fencing! It was a pleasure to watch!👍👍
Beautiful both of you are so very skilled. Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Thank you :-)
I would really like to hear Arto's review of Pro Gauntlets.
I love the control and technich of these fencers here.
Really awesome sparring!
Exciting exchange! Great style and dexterity from both of you! 🙌
BTW I love Arto's style. His close plays are fun to watch always.
Conan the Barbarian should form part more of your musical backgrounds, yet i already love your current ones.
Awesome fight, thats how fencing is done🤟
Excellent!
Very nice to observe, thank you!

Nice!! I've been waiting for this!
This was an awesome video there are many good exchanges.
pedro pezzini thank you Pedro!
@@FedericoMalagutti 😊👍
Goddamn that was fantastic. Really impressive.
I have a dream that one day I fence like these guys
Arto is like the Kirby of HEMA, you get in close and he takes your power away !
Arto have a beautiful fighting style
Better than Olympic Fencing
Change my mind
You guys could maybe indicate when you get hit, it makes following the action easier.
Uau!!!👏👏👏
At last! ⚔️
He's got some pro gauntlets, smells like broke in here
If this is how he generally fights I gotta say I really like his style
Ah, the Music of Steel😌
Bravissimi! Una sola domanda.. Dove si comprano quei guanti!

excellent fights. I love his use of Langert
From discord chat "why is geralt from the witcher about to fight a stereotype"
Btw Arto(the black suit very good imo)
You make good videos mate, i would like to suggest something, keep the music down if you dont mind because it totally snaps you out.
