Actual culprit is son. He is selfish and disobedient. He has created imbalance, who is leaned over his wife's side and took mother as a burdon. Mothers care for their children in their childhood with so much sacrifice and love. His son did not paid her bach, and an ultimate hatered is ingrained in her mother's personality, her state of mind is changed, she jas no control over her emotions which has become part of her personality, for that she poures insult on her maid.

مگر مرد زات عورتوں کو محرومی سے نکلنے بھی دے تو ہی وہ اپنی زندگی جیے
Mental health is so important and should be talked/discussed openly.Its a serious issue.Had she been taking proper medication right from the start,her son would have not left her alone.
I believe the story shows everyone is at fault.
All the characters are bad people but one thing that we need to learn here is that many developed nations don't keep servants.They do all their work on their own.That keeps them active and healthy,both mentally and physically.
It's a dilemma of 3rd world countries.
You cannot buy a human just because they are poor etc.
Having said that,domestic help are at times annoying, irritating as they are uneducated yet clever.

As for the son,those lost in the professional/practical world,know very little importance of how priceless parents are.
In this story, the servant girl was not at fault. Her father may have borrowed money from these arrogant people but it was not fair for her to pay for his debt. The son was heartless and he treated the servant bad knowing how his mother was to her. He learned it from his mother, the real kameeni. Sad but that's how people are in this world.

The director could have shown 2 sides... the mother needed affection which would change her behavior's towards the worker and which would be the solution to both the problem. treating people bad is even worst especially in this scenario she was seeking for affection and love. at some point parents especially mothers feel they has no need any more which isnt true. they should take part in activities so it helps them to keep themselves busy.

When I was bedridden because of my knee... my sil would call everyday from the US... unhe pataa thaa i will slip mentally😢... early morning walks, bollywood dancing, swimming... sab rook gayaa thaa... Just sharing... Mumbai😊

The woman had a distorted sense of entitlement. She was bitter because her son and his wife moving out. To her, it was pure rejection. Unable to face it, she took her anger and frustration out on Haseena, thinking that the poor girl had no options.
Also, BibiJi was sadistic. She enjoyed controlling and humiliating Haseena. The more quietly the girl tolerated her abuses, things became worse.
Let's face it... the woman was sadistic.
She was so self-engrossed that she crossed all the boundaries of social etiquette and common decency. For instance, she got ticked off when she saw the doctor looking at his watch while, in self-pity, she was rambling on and on.
BibiJi needed psychiatric help.
The son was no better. He was a selfish brat, who in his mother's lifetime got her property transferred in his name. In his treatment of Haseena, he was no better than his mother. Just because she owed them money, he too was treating her like a bonded labor, as did his mother.
Plain and simple, Haseena is the real victim here. Sadly, her prospects of freedom didn't improve after BibiJi's death.
