  • Having a legit air compressor has always been one of my garage dreams. OGHQ is my testing grounds to determine which products will ultimately end up in my home garage.
In this one, I mount the Air Rev Dryer to ensure I will have clean, dry air delivered to my tools.

Love how you've generally kept all the appliances (lift, jenny compressor, this thing, kranzle, cr spotless) all the same OG blue!

I also use pipe dope (thread sealant) which IMO works well with the Teflon tape and works great.

Metal studs with blocking is standard fare for commercial buildings. In some situations with small buildings wood studs are allowed, but in many cases metal framing is the only option.

Use unions on components that may require service. Much easier to get the components to line up without overtightening.

Be careful when tightening pipes with tape Matt as it is really easy to over tighten pipes.
Teflon is a great pipe thread lube. Nice set up, you do everything first class.

I am adding another compressor to my shop. I have always used copper loops of some kind to cool the hot air, then filter. Copper is so expensive, that it now is pushing the cost of a non-cycling dryer , which is what i think you have in this vid. I am a little concerend about one of these things just continuously running 24 hrs a day (thinking longevity). So, the question is , you made this vid in 2018. Is your dryer still working 3 years later? thanks for any input. Can't seem to find anything on "glad i bought one 3 years later".

Before you start installing everything around the knife switch, does your local code require you to keep an minimum working clearance per NEC 110.26 or are you able to convince the local inspectors that it will not be serviced or perform maintenance while it is energized?

I think we are good. My electrician buddy is a stickler for code. He wires it for me.

Love the channel, but somehow I missed why this whole new garage is being put together. Is this going to be where the videos are done now instead of at the house?

Matt - the PROPER way to make up the short pipe nipple is NOT the way yo did it! Connect the filter and use that to tighten both threads. You will then have a perfect fit with no damage.

They do make internal pipe wrenches so you don’t mar up the pipes, just fyi…..

I'm about to get walls put up in a metal building like yours. What did you use to hang the drywall as far as studs? I Will be hanging my saber cabinets so ill need something to anchor them to.

If I could do it again, I would definitely do wood instead of metal. Those walls are super weak. I'd to 16 on center stud wall and be sure to add extra bracing to the metal.

These are all Craftsman that I've had for years. Hand tool upgrades on on the agenda. I'm going to give Sonic Tools a whirl.
