    Do not like headless guitars. Might be practical avoiding neck dive for instance and reducing overall guitar weight but they just look bad.

    Thx for your reply. No wonder I'm digging your tone! I myself use a Rectifier multiwatt thru an orange cab with a Carvin TL70. But the kiesel pickups just have much more spank and punch, I think. Looking forward to more videos from you :) Rock on, dude!

    Great guitar, skilled guitarist but, sorry Frank, on the clean sound test the super-low action of the strings, nice and useful for fully distorted playing and racing-speed lines, makes the clean sounds kinda stopped and brittle, expecially on the top strings and this does'nt give enuff justice to this six-stringed beauty. Other than that, as I've already said, you're a fine guitarist and the axe is gorgeous.

    First off, I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video and it is appreciated. I have one constructive critique and that is you should mention what amp or amplifying method you are using for the guitar, especially in a guitar pickup vid, as this is a huge factor for what the general sound/tone will be impacted. What amp or settings were you playing through for the distortion and lead segments? The tone seemed very grainy and had a hollow solid state sound to it. Seemed to lack warmth and roundness IMHO. Just seemed grainy and harsh. Thanks again.

    • @FrankFleckenstein
      @FrankFleckenstein  8 років тому +1

      +Brutality110 Thanks for those words, man! I agree, it makes sense to share a short signal path in the video description so viewers would be able recreate the situation. For this video, I have been using some patches of my Axe FX II. Grain, warmth and roundness are very subjective terms IMHO. What warm sounding for one, might be something different for another. But I'll try to find a middle ground, so everybody can at least get an idea of the subject... in this case, the pickups I was demoing! Cheers!

    These pickups (and I"ve heard several demos so far) sound harsh and metallic to me, utterly lacking in warmth. Can you get a Santana/Allmans type tone or are they strictly for "metal"?

    • @FrankFleckenstein
      @FrankFleckenstein  7 років тому +4

      +Mike Austin In my opinion you can cover a lot of territory with them. I am not sure about Santana/Allman sounds, since these are very specific. But I also play blues/jazz stuff with them as well.

    • @JosePineda-jn8jk
      @JosePineda-jn8jk 5 років тому +2

      I think the amp really determines that harshness everyone talk about. I’ve got a Carvin legacy and the darker sound of the amp pairs perfectly with the lithium’s so I’d say yeah, it can achieve a wide variety of tones and nothing lacking bottom end or warmth on my end, especially with the tone at about 70%-80% also have a friend who uses it though a prs archon and he said the same thing. Darker amps really respond well to the articulate and mid range sound these produce

    I'm interested in a Kiesel headless guitar, but I don't play metal or rock at all. I play mostly Jazz and traditional music. I want a Kiesel because of the ergonomics and low weight. You think I should keep the stock Lithiums or should I put something else inside like maybe Seymour Duncans jazz or 59s? You think it would make a ton of difference? Thanks.

    • @FrankFleckenstein
      @FrankFleckenstein  5 років тому

      I think you should go for different pickups then, since the Lithiums aren't really made for Jazz or traditional stuff. You could order it with Holdsworth pickups for example.

      Josh Lim I used 10-46 for E Standard and 11-60 for Drop B, since both sets have more or less the same tension on the neck. This neck is one of the most stable ones I ever experienced on a guitar!

    How versatile are the pickups? They sound really clear w/o being nasal like DMZs but not sure if they're as open sounding as BKPs.
    Could it do Gary Moore or Roy Buchanan? I bet these pups could pull off jazz to djent but not blues nor stoner/black/other fuzzy stuff.

    • @FrankFleckenstein
      @FrankFleckenstein  9 років тому

      Yi Hyung Lee These pickups are really versatile. They can do dirty and fuzzy stuff as well, but in the same time remain clean and transparent! Sometimes this is not what you want, but then again no pickup can do everything!
