  • On 4 July 2012, the ATLAS and CMS spokespersons announced during a seminar at CERN that their experiments had found a particle consistent with the long sought-after Higgs boson.
“I think we have it, no?” was the question posed by the then CERN Director General Rolf Heuer on 4 July in the CERN auditorium.

Imagine knowing in your twilight years that your name will forever be attached to something so fundamental (no pun intended) to humanity. That while you may not be here much longer, your name will remain for hundreds, perhaps even thousands of years.
    I'd cry too

I'm glad this universe allowed him to feel this vindication of such a huge part of his life's work (never to discount his amazing team's work).
    RIP legend.

    Happy Birthday Higgs Boson!!!!
I have NO IDEA what the hell you are or what discoveries you unlock for us... But I'm STILL EXCITED!!!
Science is beautiful! And if you don't understand something then Go Out and Discover what it is!
Unlike all the idiots who just freak out and start calling Scientists "sinners" because they are too stupid to learn XD

In the words of yourself: Go out and discover what the Higgs Boson is.
I've tried myself, but it seems there's no conclusive way to explain it. I call BS.

if i correlated it to the amount of movement woul dn´t i be expecting a massless particle?

If I get a very tiny hipothetical speed arround 10^-83 for the graviton would it be steady or with almost no movement at all would that be considered copletely ou of mind or woul it be possible?

Who cut this video? It was so choppy and kind of funny. seriously a couple seconds to each clip wouldn't of hurt. The music also kind of made this seem like I was watching the comeback scene in a movie.

FYI, antimatter was already discovered in 1932 by Carl Anderson. What CERN looks for now are exotic particles which are not described by the Standard Model of particle physics.

What I dislike with the “physics” of the CERN, is that discovering a particle having a sub-set of properties matching the expectations becomes the public justification of all a “theory” where a particle gives the mass although it already has its own mass…
-If their thousands scientists knew that the mass multiplied with speed was the unique energy giving foundation to the forces, and that half a handful of thinkers were on the way of a better model of gravity as radiations, they would not go back at CERN.

It's a font that is favorable for people with visual learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia..) so since these studies are being presented on an international scale I'm sure they wanted to make sure everyone has easy access to the findings.

I'm confused... what exactly are you talking about?
This marks the 5th Anniversary that we humans discovered that the Higgs Boson existed (It's always been there, we just didn't know about it).
Did you act this way when we discovered Pluto? Or when we discovered all of Pluto's friends and family in the Kuiper belt?
Do you act this way each time we discover a new species of animal or plant, in the far remote reaches of our beautiful world? Do you call us "FOOLS" each time we happen upon a discovery?
Disrespecting people who discover, learn, and explore is the Hallmark of an uneducated mind and a Bitter, Bitter Soul.
