It's great that stompbox designers add such enrichments as "hot switch" - it really gives more options. And ... a great music track to present a blues pedal - thx Shawn!
Very cool intro track, with great soloing as usual! (The solo with the red Iconic guitar - OMG!) Nice that J Rockett updated this pedal and added the Hot Switch. I caught that little Norwegian Wood reference at 13:25, nice!
I still have my original tour series Blue Note. The "select" seems to be a bit more dynamic and of course, adding the "hot switch" brings more versatility.
I would just say that Shawn is a perfect reason why all of us guitarists should "bother". He's an inspiring player, and musician. I'm more of a jazz player but having watched one of his videos a few years ago, I was hooked on his phrasing and beautiful tone- a lot of which seems very jazz influenced.
Hi Shawn love your demo! Informative, giving knowledge to understand how each pedal works and what's the purpose for each guitarist or enthusiast! I wanted to know, if you were playing on the song Jehovah Jireh by Vineyard Music?
Hi Shawn. Beautiful playing as always. I`ve got this pedal and I love it. But when I look inside the pedal, I can´t see any battery clip. Is it normal for the new line of J. Rockett pedals?
I´m sorry, but that is not correct. Over the years I own three J. Rockett pedals (Blue Note, Lenny and GTO) from the "Tour Series", you have tested 8 years ago. And all three have a battery clip inside. The dimension of the circuit board from the older Blue Note pedal (the one without the hot switch) and the new one, that you currently tested in this video is equal. So it is no problem to place a 9 Volt battery inside. There must be another reason, why J. Rockett produce the Blue Note V2 pedal witout a battery clip. May be J. rockett has forget to place the battery clip in my pedal? Has anybody a opinion? Thanks
The "aformentioned" is outside of the "aforementions" so the first is not within the parameters of the other!! So I won't mention the thing that was sorta not the other...but it's surely worth the aforementioned.
That sounds fantastic, delicious.. we are all slaves to the grind .. 😂 my J-RAD Archer may be getting some company .. I literally 👀 eye-popped 👀 at the "woodiness" (is that a word) ? 🙄🤔
So the only difference between the original version and this is a tightened up Fat control and a fancy label plate? Whether or not, I appreciate the breakdown and tasty playing.
Lesson learned! That guitar did not catch fire and good gawd help me by his grace, my Deusenberg was not lost. This ain't my first rodeo or BBQ via candlelight. Haha, thanks for watching!!
@@jakollee I first saw a Tyler guitar in the mid to late 90s. I was immediately put off by the headstock. That all changed when I played it. Jim Tyler builds an incredible guitar.

Agreed. I don’t like two button standard sized pedals but that feature is worth putting on a second button I reckon…or at least a switch port.
And the orignal Blue Note already had the hot swtich so I guess it's making a slight return.
The big box Blue Note is one I keep coming back to, just works for me. Think I’ll pick up one of these because two is better than one 🙂
Same here.
Is the "hot" switch can be activated by using a stomp switch?
@@GreccPerspective Nope. You reach down and use your fingers.
@@GreccPerspective not stock but I’ve seen some big box ones modded to get that feature
@@thebrysmith3That's what she said!

Haha, thanks so much! Good ears my friend!
I’d been looking at the blue note (tour series) for a little while… this might just be what i’m looking for.

Always great playin! 🤟🎸🎶✨️
Thanks so much!!!
After 40 years of playing watching Shawn always makes me question whether I should bother anymore😂. Great player.
Oh c'mon now. I bet you sound great!!
@@ShawnTubbs Thanks Shawn! I have my moments. Hey, what do you play on David Crosby's last album?
@@OldRunt I played AC and EGT on "River Rise", "Boxes" and "Ships In The Night".

This whole track just slays Shawn! 👍👍
Thanks so much!!
Great playing...Great sounding pedal!
Great playing Shawn! Pedal sounds nice, thanks for video!
Thanks so much for watching!!
That Norwegian Wood reference was cool.
Does it make me play like you? That's what I need the play like Shawn pedal!
You'll never work in this town if you play like me!! Haha, thanks Brett!
😂
How does this compare with the Keeley MK 3 & which one would you choose to use for the warmerst organic sound ?

Hi Shawn. Beautiful playing as always. I`ve got this pedal and I love it. But when I look inside the pedal, I can´t see any battery clip. Is it normal for the new line of J. Rockett pedals?
Thanks so much for watching! The "Tour Series" enclosures are too small to accommodate a battery.

Sorry, I was wrong. Reach out to Rockett Pedals.
Shawn... I never heard anyone say "aforementioned' (3:36) in a pedal demo... even your descriptions go outside! ;)

@@ShawnTubbs An augmented response! Gotta love Shawn's outside sensibilities... ;) ha! [love your playing dude...]
Shawn...you can find the sweet pot in every gear
What circuit is it based on ?
Are these suitable for valve amps?
Yes.
It's so select, it's not even on their website yet!
Haha, it's a very selective selection for the website!! Hopefully, it's posted now. Thanks for watching!
I didnt hear any noise in high gain position. Are you using a noise gate,or is the pedal that quiet?
It's really quiet.
Good morning Shawn, hope you are doing well.
I'm doing well my friend, thanks for watching!
That sounds fantastic, delicious.. we are all slaves to the grind .. 😂 my J-RAD Archer may be getting some company .. I literally 👀 eye-popped 👀 at the "woodiness" (is that a word) ? 🙄🤔
Haha, right on. The Blue Note would pair nicely with an Archer.
Hey Shawn, does this “feel” like your tilt od?
The Blue Note isn't quite as "amp-like" as the Tilt OD but it's not stiff.
Shawn what was that gig you did on SNL was it STP?
Once with STP, and twice with Carrie Underwood.
@@ShawnTubbs Awesome Shawn thanks Alfred

Been waiting for a hand wired version
The original is the Pro Series. I'm not sure if this "Tour Series" version will replace it but the "Tour Series" pedal did not have the "hot" switch.
thx bro... I liked the original
RIP JAMES TYLER
Heartbreaking loss.
Can someone let me know if the "hot" switch can be activated by using a stomp switch?
Thanks so much for watching and for the question. The "hot" switch can't be activated via an external switch.

Those Tylers sound OK but it looks like they called Hartley Peavey to design the logo and headstock? Too bad
They've always been like that that, and by now you've gotten over it or you haven't.

gots to get one. had one of the first version. sold it. total dumbass move.

Man the blue note vs halcyon blue 😅
Hmmmm. I don't have any experience with the Halcyon Blue. I know Origin builds good stuff for sure.
