    I agree with you, in some genres too much proximity effect can completely ruin the vocals, it tends to sound unnatural and unbalanced. When you find the sweet spot the mic will respond better, your voice will sound better and you won't need to over process it to achieve a great sound.

    Also I got a question maybe it could be a video, but what do u think about Latinos using the "N" word? Cuz artist like Lil Pump be saying that shit

      +Fierro I cannot speak for all black people and I haven't really given this that much thought... , but I will say that to me, if someone outside of a black person, uses it, in music, regular speech or in any way, it's corny to me. It's deliberately using a term to sound a certain way, when we know that amongst ALL people, you don't talk that way with that term, because not even the most racist person will converse using that term all day everyday. So there must be a reason one would be using it, and that would be for the purposes of sounding like other people or something like that. Trying to rap like a black rapper. No. I respect G Eazy and Eminem whom don't use the term, and they are dope rappers. Also it depends on what the person classifies as, as there are black Latinos and white Latinos...

    Basically in modern music your vocals should starts from 200 hz or a bit higher. All below 200 hz is for bass.
    So yes, distance is very important, EQing this region will make vocals just unnatural and thin.

    great video man, thanks! so this is not the same for a mic like the shure sm7b because of its dynamic polar pattern?

      @MotifLegend  6 років тому +1

      +Christoffer Rou correct. On a Shure, your encouraged to be pretty close to it, and be sure that your recording technique is really good
