Great approach Daniel I'm trying to do the same. Here in Australia I'm using local timbers instead of imported materials. A good replacement for Honduran Mahogany is Silky Oak [ grevillea robusta] as well as Victorian Ash [ eucalyptus regnans ] a heavier timber but makes very strong necks. Bunya Pine makes great tops. Like you I'm trying to reduce the carbon footprint of my creations.
